I have three cats and one of them started developing a face rash. We went to the vet and did some tests, but nothing was conclusive; and it was therefore determined he had sensitivities to something he was eating. We did a food sensitivity test and found that he was sensitive to some odd items like tapioca, alfalfa, and some other stuff. It seems that a lot of these items are found in cat food. This was one of the few dry foods (we feed both wet and dry) that did not have any of the ingredients that showed up as him being sensitive to on the test. I switched over to this dry food, and his face is finally clearing up. Thank you! I will put before and after pictures in the review.
After a long search, we finally pinpointed my 9 year-old cat's sensitivity to peas. I've been scouring ingredient lists for months; besides freeze-dried and frozen foods, Inception is the only one that does not contain wheat, corn, soy, potatoes, or legumes. I bought two bags from the only store in my area that carried it, and all three of my cats went nuts for their new food! It does contain oats; cooked oats are actually good for cats. All those other fillers are not, and can actually cause health problems. After three weeks, my sensitive cat has stopped over-shedding and her dry skin has significantly improved. She has lost enough of her girth that she can groom her own back end and isn't uncomfortable when I pick her up. Best of all, she is exploring and playing and even running for the first time in years! My cats are 9, 5, and 1. 9 and 5 are chonks -- 5 sneaks out to eat the neighbors' Friskies, 9 has sensitivities and a congenital metabolism issue. So I'm trying to balance a diet for very different needs, give them the healthiest food possible, and not break the bank. I feed a mix of Inception, Stella & Chewy freeze-dried food, and canned Fancy Feast (pate only; fewer phosphates) or home-cooked chicken and liver. The Inception helps them feel fuller, which is good because with only the other two foods my drama queens think they're starving between meals. My local store stopped carrying the Inception, and my guys are pouting. They'll be happy to see the delivery guy from Chewy.
I opened the bag to start mixing it with their current dry food and they were curious so I let them have a sniff and bite. They both gobbled it. Even the picky maine coon. Happy to finally transition them to a filler free dry food in addition to some wet. Hopefully their tummies manage
Both our cats like it.
Don't get me wrong... Inception for cats seems to be a high quality food, unfortunately my cats absolutely hate it! Ordered Inception as a replacement out of desperation because the Purina Beyond limited ingredient cat food 13 lb bag is suddenly out of stock everywhere! I only recently switched from the Purina Beyond Grain Free Dry Cat Food after using it for over 4 years because the price suddenly jumped by $10 recently, now I can't even get stuff with grains in it without shopping for weeks on end and still unable to find more than a freak8ng 5lb bag! I bought the largest bag of Inception and now I have to throw it away... what a waste!
The ingredients look good on this, with something of a mid-range price. Unfortunately, no one in our household of 5 cats will give it the time of day. It's a complete walk away without so much as a nibble. I decided to make it feral cat food, figuring it would be a bonus over their usual, but I've been finding that even the ferals don't seem to really like it. And they are normally pretty hungry and unfinicky. Not sure what's wrong with this stuff. My dog does like the Inception dog food, but the cats consider this a complete No Go.
Finally a dry food both house cats like. Only problem is the dog likes it too and I have to stand guard so cats can eat first
My precious, toothless, cat Fred will not eat anything except this food and an occasional can of tuna in water. He just LOVES Inception.
oats, milo and millet are the healthiest grains for cats, much better than corn or potatoes. i'm not sure why no one has thought of using these in cat foods before, but i've read a lot of good things about them. since most cat foods have some type of starch, i'd rather have these than any others. yes, it may take your cat a bit of time to get used to the change, but i feel it's worth it to make the change if your cat food has other grains.
I really liked the ingredients in this food so I gave it a try. My cats seemed to love it at first but once the first bag was finished and I opened the second bag they refused to eat it. I’m not sure why.
