How much food do I put down each day for two adult Guinea Pigs? Mine have been getting too fat and I don't know the correct amount to feed them.
Answer by ChewyApr 14, 2021
Guinea Pigs should always have hay available in a hopper, bin, or on the bottom of their cage and will graze on it as they need; keep a half cup of hay always available, and replace it daily to keep it fresh. If your guinea pig is gaining weight, make sure that you’re feeding the correct amount of pelleted food (1/8th cup once daily, per guinea pig) and only providing a treat once daily.

Is this food good for baby rabbits?
Answer by ChewyNov 26, 2018
Like adults, hay should play an important role in young rabbit's diet. Grass hay (e.g. meadow or timothy) is the one food you should introduce from the start, even if your rabbit isn't already eating it. This is the gentlest food on the gut and will provide the fibre needed for the digestive process to function.

Is this brand safe for my Guinea Pig ? I am giving it oxbow Timothy hay I am trying to save a little money since Oxbow is little bit more expensive
Answer by ChewyNov 21, 2017
This product is safe for Rabbit, Guinea Pig, Chinchilla and Degu.

Can hamsters eat this?
Answer by ChewyJul 26, 2017
While not nutritionally necessary for hamsters, timothy hay is a safe and healthy supplement that can be offered two or three times a week, and should be part of a hamster's overall balanced diet.

Timothy grass is common forage in NYS

It hurts me to say it but for one bag of Timothy hay is almost $20 after tax in local stores. Your local farmers most growing Timothy some orchard mix or alfalfa sell 60 plus pound square bales for $4.50 a bale that'll last a lot longer for the price for the same quality. I dislike seeing things flipped for a higher price tag because of a label or being sold through stores .

Dust, dust, more dust

Chewy never has the bigger bags (which usually has less dust in it, although not recently) in stock. Even so these bags have gotten worse and worse, I’ve been buying this brand of hay for years due to limited options but at this point I’m jumping ship due to the plummet in quality. The amount of dust in this product can’t be good for a guinea pig. Will be switching bag sizes I order, probably brand too. Maybe Chewy just purchases low-quality batches.

Too Much Grass

I, nor our bunnies liked this hay as it had too much grass mixed in and made the litter box extremely damp all the time and caused us to have to change the liter box more frequently. Not sure if it was just this batch or that is typical of this brand but we will not be buying again.

Messy small pieces/dust

I bought this hay because it was cheaper than my usual go to (Oxbow). I'm really disappointed with it - it has a ton of dust and it's either large pieces that the piggies ignore, or tiny pieces that are basically dust. This is a nightmare if you use fleece lining in your cage. The piggies are not impressed as they try to pick through it all, and neither am I.

Great hay!

Our Guinea Pigs love it and eat a lot of it up! We like this brand and type as it has 1st cuts, which are the best for GP's. We will continue to buy this and other Kaytee products

Burrs and stickers in product

I'm so disappointed in Kaytee.I didn't realize that this bag was full of burrs and stickers until I changed the fleece bedding (which is all ruined now). These are STICKERS ,not some dried flower or soft weed. The quality of products from Chewy is decreasing and it is so disappointing.

Smells delicious!

The gerbils love this hay. They break it up and move it all around to make their nest. It also smells so good, it makes their enclosure stay fresher longer.

is this even hay?

This “hay” is thin dusty and doesn’t smell of hay I’m convinced it’s not Timothy hay at all. Not only is the quality garbage there’s foreign matter in the bag I found spiked balls, sticks, cotton like material. So if you’re thinking of purchasing this please don’t it’s not safe, Chewy should pull this product off the website

Hay? More like crumbs.

The last couple bags of Kaytee Timothy hay is barely hay. It's like powdered crumbs. My bunny won't eat it anymore. I also just noticed that their is no expiration date on the bags like should be. See attached photo.
