How much food do I put down each day for two adult Guinea Pigs? Mine have been getting too fat and I don't know the correct amount to feed them.
Answer by ChewyApr 14, 2021
Guinea Pigs should always have hay available in a hopper, bin, or on the bottom of their cage and will graze on it as they need; keep a half cup of hay always available, and replace it daily to keep it fresh. If your guinea pig is gaining weight, make sure that you’re feeding the correct amount of pelleted food (1/8th cup once daily, per guinea pig) and only providing a treat once daily.

Is this food good for baby rabbits?
Answer by ChewyNov 26, 2018
Like adults, hay should play an important role in young rabbit's diet. Grass hay (e.g. meadow or timothy) is the one food you should introduce from the start, even if your rabbit isn't already eating it. This is the gentlest food on the gut and will provide the fibre needed for the digestive process to function.

Is this brand safe for my Guinea Pig ? I am giving it oxbow Timothy hay I am trying to save a little money since Oxbow is little bit more expensive
Answer by ChewyNov 21, 2017
This product is safe for Rabbit, Guinea Pig, Chinchilla and Degu.

About how long does the larger bag last for one guinea pig?
Answer by ChewyAug 23, 2018
There's no exact feeding amount of hay your small animal needs, the length of time it'll last will vary. You can provide hay at all times.

Old Hay

I have been trying to find a hay brand that is consistently good. It seems I will find a good one and then the next shipment the hay is really brown and old. Maybe it’s a seasonal thing. I decided to try this brand and the hay I got is thick, super dry almost for large farm animals not my little Guinea. He loves hay but this one he is digging thru and throwing it all over his cage, normally he eats all his hay. I will try another brand.

This product used to be great! I’ve been buying it for years. What happened? Drastic decline in quality. My Guinea pigs don’t like it like they used to. Worst of all. I’m getting some kind of tiny flying bugs in the hay. Sooooo disappointed!

Awful now, find a different brand

For about a year now, the quality has been inconsistent, but now the quality is consistently bad. Dusty, light colored, dry, almost chalky. Large portions of the hay go uneaten by my guinea pigs. This is not a product that should be purchased from Chewy or anywhere else until they improve their quality.

1/3 of the bag is dust

I have been reading other reviews and I can concur. The quality of this hay is not what it used to be. I always like getting the 96 oz bag of hay so it lasts longer for my 2 guinea pigs. However, at least 1/3 of the bag is fine dust and particles from the hay. This has to be strained from the feeding hay or else the pigs will sneeze and cough. It doesn't seem like it is super dry but something in the process is broken. I am not going to order the larger bag any longer. I will order the size smaller and may regret it but we will see. Hope this helps you in your purchase.

It was okay

I gave this product three starts because I've bought this same exact product else where and when I opened it the hay was mostly brown and not all green like my last bag was. My bunny won't even touch it.

Best Customer Service Ever

Our beloved guinea pig of 5 years passed away, so I contacted Chewy to return my order. Was able to return with no problem, and received the kindest message from Craig W in customer service and flowers! The thoughtfulness brought tears to my eyes, and meant so much to our family. Some people might not understand and think, oh it's just a guinea pig, but you did! We will be Chewy customers for life. Thank you so much for your kind words and thoughtfulness in our loss.

Inconsistent quality

I recently placed an order for two of these bags. One bag was super thick and pale, while the other one was deep green but the entire bag was crumbs. My rabbit has been pretty picky with it unfortunately.

Poor quality hay

My rabbit refused to eat the hay. I bought a higher quality and he is feeling better. Quality of hay is vital for a rabbit to stay healthy.

Timothy hay is bad

This is the absolute WORST hay I have ever received!! The whole bag is nothing but crushed hay that is so discolored that doesn’t even look like hay. I buy a lot from Chewy but will have to look elsewhere for a decent product

Quality has deteriorated

I’ve been using this hay for a year with not many issues in consistency. I’ve noticed the last few months the hay is mostly tiny bits and dust with very few long hay pieces. My rabbits are picky eaters so now I’m at a loss as to what to switch to since they won’t eat most hay from other brands.
