How long is the cord?
The cord is 5.5 feet long.
What temperature will this bed reach?
The surface of the bed will be about 15°F above ambient air temperature until the pet lies on the bed. Then it will warm to about 102°F, which is the natural body temperature of dogs and cats.
IS this bed pressure sensitive?
This bed is not pressure sensitive. All K&H heated beds and pads feature dual thermostats and are designed to warm to your pet's normal body temperature when he/she lies on the pad. This is a function of the insulation provided by a pet’s body, not the weight of the pet.K&H beds and pads will emit heat anytime they are plugged in so your pet can sense that heat and be drawn to the bed or pad for warmth and comfort. When your pet is not on the pad, the heat will dissipate into the air and the surface temperature will vary according to the ambient air temperature.
Can I use an extension cord with this product?
MET requires that all manufacturers put the extension cord statement “Do not use with extension cord” on every item that is MET listed by UL 499 standards. This is because they cannot test every extension cord on the market in conjunction with our products for safety. Also, MET suggests that an extension cord is not recommended as a permanent fixture and should only be a temporary solution when using any electrical product.
How long can a heated bed be plugged in?
MET Safety Laboratories suggests unplugging the bed if you leave your home on an extended vacation, as they do with any electrical appliance. Otherwise, it is designed for 24/7 operation and you can leave it plugged in all day. This item has been certified by MET labs to adhere to strict electrical safety standards.
Is there an off/on switch?
There is not an off/on switch. The bed is always on when plugged in.
1-Year Limited Warranty.

Large pad but only has tiny heater inside
By KokoJO on Feb 8, 2021
Got this product to replace a different brand of cat-bed heater (a gift) that stopped working. I was expecting the heating element inside the bed-cover (pictured) to be about the same size as the bed (as is the case with other brands of heated cat-beds that I've seen or used). No! While the bed-cover (seen in the product photo) is approximately 14 x 20 inches, the heating element inside (a small, vinyl-covered packet) is only 9 x 9 inches, and floats around inside the bed-cover, randomly. Also, the top material is a plush, non-woven insulation-like material which is easily torn and pulled by cat-claws, so the whole thing needs to be placed _under_ another blanket, not exposed with the cat sleeping Got this product to replace a different brand of cat-bed heater (a gift) that stopped working. There is no thermostat or timer (explained clearly in the product description) but I prefer units with a timer/thermostat (unavailable when I ordered this product on sale). The only reason I gave it a "recommend" is that my cat likes it a LOT, sleeps on it all the time, and she doesn't care about the missing features at all! But as the human who is constantly plugging, unplugging and re-centering the heating element, and re-arranging the blanket on my bed, I'm not liking it nearly as much as other brands with better covers and timers/thermostats. … more

My Cat is in Lurv
By KrazyKitKat on Feb 18, 2021
I bought this for my senior cat who also has back arthritis. She likes to sleep on the floor because she has issues with even using pet stairs or ramps, so I wanted to get her something to help keep her warm and comfortable since she has refused every cat bed I have gotten her. I put this in her current favorite spot, and once I added a paper bag on top of it (she loves her paper bags) she barely moves off of it. It gets warm but not hot, which is good. My only complaint is that the heating element pad could be larger.

Cover Frays Gross!
By ElliO on Feb 5, 2021
The heating pad itself has been solid and reliable, though as other reviewers noted, it's less than half the size of the cover, and even my small cat curled into a ball doesn't fit "comfy" on the heater part. But the real problem is the cover. Within weeks, it was fraying into a coarse, nasty, scratchy polyester mess. I tried just trimming off the fraying threads and fluff, but it only seems to have gotten worse. I finally threw it away and made a cozy fleece cover for it. With the fleece cover, it fits nicely into the bottom of my cat's cushy bed and she seems quite content. Unless you love having scratchy grey polyester balls shedding all over, get one of K&Hs other heating pads.

Perfect for my elderly kitty
By BabyKitty on Jan 21, 2021
I was a little hesitant to get this based on other reviews of the heating portion being so much smaller than the pad and that it doesn't get really warm to touch. I'm glad I got it, though! The heater is somewhat smaller than the pad, but I found that no matter where my kitty lays on it, it provides warmth. I love the fact that it doesn't get too warm because my kitty sleeps hard and I was afraid it might get too hot and hurt him. No, it's perfect. It does get warmer when they lay on it than how it feels just to touch with nothing on it. He used to feel cold to the touch, and now he's toasty and has even gone back to sleeping on his side and stretching out, so I know it feels good to him! Already a Favorite!
By smf15362 on Feb 22, 2021
My cats discovered my electric blanket during this WFH winter, so I thought I should get them something to call their own--mostly so I could get my blanket back, haha. They immediately took to this. Already considering getting another one so they don't have to fight over who gets to sleep on it! Great for chilly Chicago winters in drafty apartments.

What am I supposed to do with this tiny thing?
By ProfDjangoNomstradamus on Jan 24, 2021
My mother bought me this... thing. She thought I would love it because it would keep me warm in my bed at night when I sleep. Mother, dear Mother, you were so wrong, how could this tiny thing be of any use to such a scholar as I? Not only will I not lay on it or even touch my paw to it because of the odor when it heats, the actual "warming" pad is only half the size of the cover that it comes in. Really, Mother... why would you even dream that this was a quality made bed for me? I might as well sleep next to that fluffy giant dog lives here and tries to eat me if I want some extra warmth. Not your best attempt, Mother.

Shrimpy heat pad
By kkee on Jan 22, 2021
The heating pad in this cat flat bed is maybe 6” x 6”. Where would you put it in a pad about 12” x 18” (I’m not sure of the true size off the top of my head). I’m very disappointed. I would return it but I have already taken the tags and wrapping off a week before I discovered the size of the actual heating pad. I thought I had read the description carefully. The cover is supposed to trap cat hair, I’m not sure, but it’s very scratchy.

Would not recommend
By csneed on Jan 27, 2021
The pad is scratchy and tears very easily. I do not see how I would put it in the washer even on gentle. Pad is gray: but an unfortunate gray color. Does not feel comfortable or look good with most decor. I am particular about the things I buy my cats- especially the two with arthritis. I did put a towel on top to be less scratchy but that absorbs the heat too so kitty feels less.

Misleading item
By Soso on Jan 19, 2021
I would only recommend this product if a friend wanted a small heating pad inserted into a large cover. I assumed the heating pad was the same size as the cover, but it is not. The heating pad inside is half the size as the cover, so it is very awkward to use. You would be better off just buying a smaller, cheaper item. The heating pad itself is great, so I just inserted it into the old cover, but now I am stuck with a large cover that is useless.

This ones a little different
By Bonnie on Jan 4, 2021
I have several K&H warming pet beds. This one is a little different. It’s nice because it doesn’t have the foam inserts but the bed itself is thick and padded. It washed up nicely and the cats really like the texture to lay on. It does seem like it will hold on to all the hair (or anything else that comes in contact with it). The actual heating pad is a little small. I don’t think I’d buy it at full price but the sale price makes it a good value
