Can one of these be stacked on top of another one of these? If so, would that make the cat even warmer than with just one? Thank you.

Is it noisy?

Answer by Rene B.Jan 19, 2026
There's a crinkling noise inside the pad that can be heard when the pet moves around on it.

Is this pad warm enough to use outdoors during the night in winter?

Answer by ChewyJun 09, 2024
This pad uses self-warming materials that radiate heat back to your pet. This may not be enough heat for winter time.

What is this made of? Would it be toxic if a pet ingested it?

Answer by ChewyApr 05, 2024
The topside of the crate pad is made from soft, inviting microfleece while the bottom has a "stay pet" non-slip fabric to keep the pad from bunching up in the crate. The self-warming material is actually metalized plastic, similar to that in which you’ll find in space blankets. It is not intended to be chewed and is not safe if ingested.

When I first took it out of the box I was skeptical. There didn't seem to be much special about it but I went ahead and put it on the top tier of the cat condo and waited to see. First day he wouldn't go on it. He went up there as usual but it made a crinkling sound so he avoided it. The cat condo is in front of a window facing a large tree with lots of birds (cat TV!) but since it's winter it's a bit chillier in front of the window right now. Anyhow, day 2 he went to his perch and snuggled right in. Now I can't hardly get him out of there! I think the crinkling sound must act kind of like a space blanket because it definitely holds warmth. If you're on the fence, try it! It's definitely a keeper at my house!

My 16 yr old Saffron loves to be snuggly warm. He has various beds throughout the house which he utilizes. However, since putting this warming mat in one of his cave beds (it fits perfectly), he hibernates in there. Have to entice him to come out and get some exercise several times a day! It's a big hit in our house. Give it a try if you have an elderly cat. You'll be pleasantly surprised. It's well made and easy to care for.

I have 7 cats which we have 5 inside and 2 that want to be outside cats. I provide houses outside for these cats and we have all sorts of climbing houses inside. These warming mats are used for both. I have extra to wash when needed and they will go inside the indoor little houses on the climbing trees and they will go in the outside houses so the outdoor cats can self warm. The outside houses are on our wooden deck outside our patio door with an overhang that has a shower curtain surrounding it to keep out the snow and the rain. It does not get wet so that is why I do not use straw, I use these warming mats and they do not get wet. They serve their purpose well. Thank you K&H because not all mats are good for self-warming. Yours are. And when I wash them, they are on delicate cycle and they only are on low to dry so I do not mess with the foil-type warming portion of the mat.

Both my cats liked it. It works as far as warming up from their body heat. It's very soft, fits perfectly in an XL cat carrier, is surprisingly absorbent (which wasn't a selling point but ended up being super useful!), and makes a pleasant crinkling sound that is preferred by my cats in their toys (but did freak out the cat it was bought for until his brother took a nap on it, smh). It was smaller than I expected, but that's on me for not breaking out the measuring tape. It should be great for average sized cats to sprawl out on, but was a bit small for my 4 ft long oranges. Just enough room to curl into a tight ball on or loaf with their tail not on it at all. I have faith that it will be possible to handwash and line dry it. Gotta go do that now, actually ^.^'

My two cats do use the mats when they are on cushy leather sofas. Otherwise there is little to no padding in the mat, though they do reflect some warmth. The fabric is loosely woven and feels as if it may well not survive many wash cycles which is bad because my cats are very particular about wanting their bedding freshly and frequently washed. My two former ferals have upgraded their standards.

Unfortunately the mats have a slight crinkle sound so my cats will not lie down on them. And, of course, they are not warm until a cat lies down on it. So I am using them on chairs I do not want my cats on. I will buy a plug in warming mat hoping they will use even if it has a crinkle sound because the warmth will attract them. I had wanted to avoid the plug in mats but those are my destiny.

I always wash new bedding before use, even though I bought this for my outside cat’s house. It came out of the wash great. His house is already insulated with pads but I wanted Frank to have a self warming bed too. He loves it. I bought another to have when the other is getting washed. I highly recommend this pad for cats.

I've been feeding a feral cat for years (along with many others). she is now tame for me, I can pet her. she has made friends with a former feral who lives across the street. I call them my porch cats. They eat together and sleep together cuddled on this mat. It keeps them toastly warm over night.

We have many cats/kittens indoor and outdoor. The cats inside sleep side-by-side in order to rest on the warming pad and the outdoor cats choose the level on their "house" where the warming pad is located. The kittens (there are five) have a large room and multiple areas set aside for sleeping, yet all five kittens find the self-warming pad and huddle together. Only wish they didn't cost as much.
