KONGs are easy to keep clean and top-shelf dishwasher safe. Caretakers should regularly examine toys and look for cracks, separations and/or missing pieces. Inspect KONG rubber toys by flexing the rubber when it is dry. Loose pieces larger than a food nugget can be harmful if swallowed so make sure to remove or replace damaged or worn toys.
My cat just stares at the ball and waits for me to push it or kick it with my feet. The treats don’t come out of the ball until you push it around several times. So my cat loses interest very fast. She is 10 years old so maybe she is just too old to learn a new trick. I have seen these balls work with dogs very successfully. So maybe my cat just isn’t that interested. I would suggest getting something like this for a younger animal and start them out at a younger age to learn how to get food by this method.
Good puzzle toy for cats
on Mar 10, 2019
My cats do well with this puzzle toy. They get their meals in them. It slows down their eating and makes them work for it. For some of them it took them a couple of days to figure it out. I had to start with it in two pieces since this was their first puzzle and they didn’t know what to do with it. After a couple of days they were able to do it as a whole piece.
Both of my cats love it

It took about 20-25 minutes to teach each of my cats how to use this and after that they have had so much fun my dog is legitimately jealous of them. I got it 2 days ago and I have been feeding them their dinner by gradually loading all of it into the ball and letting them whack it around all night. If you have a cat that likes whacking things (I do) this is perfect.

The cats have been unable to consistently make this food toy "work". Its shape makes it difficult for them to get the treats out. But, it does give them something to roll around the room with an occasional treat falling out.
a waste of money

My cat just couldn't see the fun in this. It doesn't roll naturally, so it has to be manipulated in a way that he hasn't the patience for, and, when any come out at all, several pieces of food fall out in a clump instead of one or two at a time.

I have three cats, so far only one has figured out to bat it around until food pops out. The problem is he rolls it around once and a ton of food falls out, almost all of it that I put in there. Then once that is out, only a couple of pieces will fall out at a time. So maybe I didn't read enough about it before purchasing because I wanted to use this to feed them their dinners since they scarf their food down so fast that usually at least one of them vomits it back up. I was hoping this would slow them down. It's nice for a very small amount of food, though.
Catherine, a Texas cat
on Jan 25, 2019
Our order was delivered on time in 2 days. Catherine did not pay much attention to the ball for a day or so but as with all play things she finally started tapping it around and giving some attention to the ball. By the end of the fourth day she had it figured out and seemed to enjoy the game of "Tap and Eat".
Cat not impressed

I had a smaller treat ball but the treats came out too easily. I thought this one would be more challenging. It's easy to fill, and it does take a bit longer to get the treats out, but it's no challenge for my cat. He knows if he just stands there and pushes it slightly with his head the treats will come out. I've tried different sized dry food/treats but the result is always the same. Disappointing for a Kong product.

My cat will bat this around all day, treats inside or not. I love that he has to work a little to get a treat but I also love that he still plays with it when it’s empty thinking somehow a treat might still be inside.
Good foraging alternative

The only con is that it rolls out more food at once then I expected, making snacktime somewhat short. Easy to fill, easy to clean, and my cat can easily roll it around.
