When your life revolves around napping in the sun, it's easy to add an extra pound or two. But the vets have spoken: 50% of American cats need to slim down! The PetSafe SlimCat Interactive Feeder lets your cat play away the pounds while working for his dinner or treats. Pack the SlimCat feeding ball with your fur baby's kibble, and it distributes an adjustable amount of food as your cat bats and pounces.
SlimCat can be used by all cats and particularly overweight cats can benefit from the interaction.
By providing smaller portions of food throughout the day, it helps to maintain optimum weight as well as improve your cat’s digestion.
Improves behavioral problems such as excessive meowing, scratching or aggression.
Holds 2/3 cup of dry food or treats.
Dishwasher safe, BPA-free plastic.
†Capacity is calculated by total volume. When using container, choose a capacity greater than what you need to prevent overfilling and spills.
I purchased this after trying the Northmate Catch Interactive Cat Feeder (which didn't work) to slow my overweight cat down when he eats. It worked. While he doesn't enjoy using it, he now finishes after his sister and doesn't get a chance to eat her food too. You can adjust the hole sizes so more or less food drops out. Being lazy, he uses his head to push it around to drop out the food, as that works better than when he bats it with his paws. Only issue is that obviously it gets rolled all around the floor so your cat will be eating food from the floor.
These are great!

I don't free feed my cats, they eat wet food in the morning and in the evening. I got these to leave out during the day and overnight. It keeps them occupied and prevents them from eating too fast. They are also dishwasher safe which is convenient. I originally bought 2 but ended up getting 2 more so I can have a couple extra filled and ready to go. One of my cats caught on pretty quickly, the other wasn't too happy having to do extra work but she's started using it. Very satisfied with this purchase!
I like it more than my cat does.

My friend has two of these for her cats, and they love 'em! When I was cat-sitting for her, I thought my cat might benefit from the small challenge of a puzzle. I love that the ball adjusts to accommodate different kibble sizes. It's a nicely sized item and really functional! Too bad kitty just doesn't get it or isn't interested in putting in the effort for his food. Maybe it'd've been more fun for him if I introduced it to his routine earlier.
So I really wanted to like it.

So i really wanted to like this, however, its very small 2 handfuls almost filled it, and the kittens were not engaged with it at all, they played with it for 10 minutes and figured out they didnt have to do anything to push it and food fell out (on the harder setting) and Then lost interest quite quickly, which is odd as my kittens are very playful players. I gave 3 stars because the idea is great, ad it might work for some, its why i gave it a shot. So bummer For us but may work for someone different. Im returning this and going to give the Trixie 5 in 1 fun board a try. Fingers crossed, as i need something to keep them occupied before i wake up in the morning.
Fun to watch them maneuver it!!!

My cats either bat it (the young one) or push it around with their head (the old lazy one). It's fun to watch! The amount it dispenses is iffy (usually nothing or too much at once) or I would have given it 5 stars.
Perfect interactive feeder!

The feeder was perfect for our needs. Our cat needed a “diet” plan, so the feeder was perfect to regulate his dry food intake and encourage a little movement and exercise. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his FeLV just a week after our purchase and is no longer with us.
Great To Slow Down Eating And Provide Portion Control
on Sep 26, 2018
This interactive feeder was great for my indoor cat. He was able to pick it up right away and now he is eating much slower and he seems to enjoy batting the ball around the floor. It's still too early to tell if this will help with weight loss but it definitely makes feeding time more fun for him. I have laminate flooring which is perfect for this ball and it doesn't leave much of a mess, but that might be due to him scarfing down every kibble that comes out!
Maybe not for older cats?

I bought this hoping I could get my chubby 10 year old kitties to play with it. They're so food motivated, this should surely get their attention, I thought. Nope. Sure, if I roll it a bit and get the food to come out, they'll eat it. But otherwise? They just look at it and have absolutely no interest in it. It's been sitting for over a week now. I move it occasionally to try to get them interested but they just aren't. Oh well!

I like to leave out puzzles with treats and dry food in various parts of my home for my cat to go “hunting”. I noticed that she was gaining too much wait if I free feed her (e.g. leaving dry food out in a bowl). So by making her hunt for her food, I feel like it would satisfy her animal instincts and maintain a healthy weight. Unfortunately, she want nothing to do with this feeder. I’ve tried to pawn this thing off to my neighbor’s cat and another family cat but they too were not very pleased with this.
our cats can't figure it out

Hopeful they will, as it looks like a good way to slim them down. I removed their bowl of dry food and just left the food ball out, but they would only dine when I pushed the ball.
