Best Purchase Ever
I use this bag for my cat and dog all the time. It has a clip inside so you can secure your pet while keeping it completely open (I’ve gone skiing, biking… and it has kept my pets safely attached inside). The base is solid which also helps keep them comfortable. It has a lot of space and waterproof inside incase of pet accidents, it also has a soft removable mat that can easily be washed. I travel a lot and though it’s spacious it is within airline norms and easily fits under the seat infront of you.
On top of this it is quite fashionable and looks like a regular backpack when you close all the flaps, (incase you need to sneak your pet in somewhere).
Also works quite well as a cooler of you need to keep drinks fresh.
I’m obsessed with this bag as are my pets!
Airport Ready
This seems sort of pricey, but honestly isn’t. It not only holds an animal up to 18lbs well with room to move around, you can put a laptop or tablet in it. The nicest feature is, if you can get your animal to be calm, if you keep the flap over, no one knows your pet is in there . It looks like a backpack. It fits just fine under airplane seats. My baby did well traveling with this bag. My only issue is the magnetic closures on the front did not do well when my dog wanted to wiggle a lot. I would also try to add a way to put a small lock on it. Other than that, very cool, very sturdy, very useful backpack/ pet carrier.

StylishNdiscreet!
Licorice is 16 pounds. He can sit up in the backpack or curl into a ball at the bottom. On the airplane, I had to put the bag flat on its back to slide it under the seat, and Lico used it like a sleeping bag. This is a major upgrade from our last bag, the Petgear bag, which was cheaper and very comfy for him, but not as attractive, discreet or easy to carry as this one.
Pluses: No one has any idea there’s a dog in there!!! The bag looks sleek and attractive. The pockets are functional. The chest strap helps distribute the weight, making it easier to carry.
Downsides: the dog has to be placed into the bag—he can’t just walk in, so if your dog isn’t used to carrier bags, I imagine there might be an adjustment period where he fights it.
There could be more mesh for air circulation. If the secrecy flap is down, there are only two small vents on either side. Still, Licorice seems fine in there. 4,9/5 stars.
I would love a bag exactly like this, except shorter...
This bag is GREAT. But it's short for my dog. Yes, be sure to read the dimensions. I didn't. My dog loved it but she couldn't see out at the top...oh well...I do hope Kurgo will hear me and make a shorter one.

Amazing backpack but my kitty is not a fan
This is a high quality and sturdy back pack!!
Unfortunately, I have a medium sized male cat (12.2 lb) and he does not like this back pack. If your cat is smaller and like curling up in small places they will luckily love it and it is comfortable to wear.

Structural and visibility issues
The material is good quality, although the turquoise maybe a bit too bright for some. The real problem for small pets is that there’s no rigid material to hold the interior open and off of them. The only rigid structure is at the base of the carrier. Also, the top mesh doesn’t provide sufficient visibility for the pet to see out when zipped closed. A close miss I’ll need to return this one.
Great quality, comfortable for me and my dog
Love this bag. My pup is a 26 pound cocker spaniel, she fits perfectly in the bag with the top open, she has a little extra room around her but not much. Closing the top is a bit too tight. We got it for the bike and moped and longer hikes that she needs breaks on (she’s an old lady), and this bag is perfect for that. If you want a travel bag that closes, I’d say this bag would be good for pups no bigger than 20lbs. The bottom of the bag is solid and she seems very comfortable. I’m 5’2” and the bag is comfortable to wear. It has a sternum buckle in front, but no waste strap which would have been nice. Overall great quality and would buy again.

Fit for a princess (aka spoiled city pup)
I purchased this backpack to transport my 15 pound Cavalier King Charles Spaniel to/from daycare during inclement weather and when it is too hot or cold for her to walk. We live in a city and the walk is about a mile one way. It works for us.
She has plenty of room in the carrier and likes to look out the top. I think she enjoys the different view from when we walk :) When I glanced at our reflection in windows she seems very content (and cute).
I’m petite. I originally looked at Kurgo’s G-train backpack. I bought it for my sister and she loves it. However, when I tried hers on it hit in the wrong place on my back. With my frame, this isn’t uncommon for me with backpacks and it hurts. This backpack, the Rucksack, is slightly shorter and didn’t cause the pain the other did. The back and shoulders have the appropriate level of padding. More than I thought and I’m happy with it.
Even with the shorter height, my pup still had plenty of room and the shape of the Rucksack actually works better for her. This seems to have a more square-ish compartment for the pup. Also the opening to stick their head out is bigger than the G-train. I like that I can have it open for her, a mesh cover, and the regular cover in case or rain/snow (there are side vents for air).
The colors are nice. I love the interior color. I wish Kurgo made a matching leash and harness of the interior color. The exterior has a slightly more blue/grayish color than expected. There is dark brown leather/faux leather that is characteristic of a rucksack.
There are three pockets: (1) an interior laptop or water bladder bag pocket, (2) a back pocket for an iPad mini or the like, and (3) a very small front pocket that would be good for a credit card or the like. Honestly, the pockets are pretty useless unless it’s for those purposes. There is no separate place for food, leash, etc. or a wallet. You could put it in with the dog, but mine would eat it or it could be uncomfortable for her. The G-train has better and more useful pockets. This won’t impact our use because I’ll have my work tote with me and I’ll put her food and leash in that, but I wanted it to be the only bag for a hike, it would be difficult.
I do wish the tether was adjustable, but it works for us.
The bag is not as rigid as one would think. We have some issues at first figure out how to get her into it with ease. The bag kept collapsing, but we eventually figured it out over the first few times we used it. Her SleepyPod Air and Wildone Tote are easier in that respect, but the backpack style is better for longer trips.
Fits Even a Miniature Schnauzer!
It's hard to find a backpack big enough to fit a 20 lb miniature schnauzer so I was skeptical about how this bag would fit him. But it fits him perfectly!! The bottom is solid so he can keep his footing and not panic. The bag is well ventilated so he did not get too warm while inside. He can sit comfortably inside and had a great time!
My only issue that keeps it from being five stars is that after a while wearing it with a dog like a miniature schnauzer, the shoulder straps right where the clip is can get a little uncomfortable. Additionally, the leash clip inside the bag can be a bit short for a larger 'small' dog. It still works though, just a bit snug to attach to a harness.
Overall DEFINITELY worth the price and definitely good for 'small' dogs that are a bit bigger and heavier than a Jack Russel Terrier.
