Description

The Kurgo Tru-Fit Smart Harness with Steel Nesting Buckles Enhanced Strength is a crash-tested dog car harness that keeps your dog safe while riding in the car. It has been designed as a dog safety harness, not a converted walking harness. The all-steel Nesting Buckle System is based on the engineering for harnesses used by rock climbers and linesmen ensuring strength and safety. With five adjustments points, it’s easy to get a near custom fit for any dog, regardless of size and proportions. The chest pad reduces stress on the trachea and sternum while dispersing kinetic energy across the chest of the dog. This is important during those rare but dangerous impact crashes. The chest pad and straps are also very comfortable, making this dog car harness great as an everyday walking harness. For maximum crash protection and to limit excursion, you should use the included carabiner to attach the harness to your car seatbelt system. If your dog cannot tolerate this level of restraint, you can also use the included 10-inch dog seat belt tether to provide a bit more range of movement.

Key Benefits

  • Broad, padded chest plate for extra protection and comfort
  • Compatible with any vehicle seat belt system
  • Includes a carabiner and 10-inch dog seat belt loop
  • Functions as an auto or walking harness, providing ultimate comfort by reducing stress on the trachea and sternum while dispersing kinetic energy across the chest of the dog
  • Five adjustment points for a perfect fit on all shapes and sizes

  • Heavy Duty Vest for a Powerful Pup!

    By on

Was using a really cheap vest with plastic buckles for almost a year with a Boxer/Mastiff mix. Welp the neighbor's cat was outside and my dog straight disintegrated the vest to get at the cat. While looking around this vest looked to be the most heavy duty and fit my needs for a 60lb pure muscle pup. I absolutely love the design!! The front buckles are fixed so really easy to slip on and the sides are in the perfect place (you even have 2 options for your growing pup - wish I saw this before). The buckles feel heavy duty and the vest alone seems to hold up extremely well while the dog is outside with me on her tie out. If I have a complaint it would be that the front does come up high on Was using a really cheap vest with plastic buckles for almost a year with a Boxer/Mastiff mix. • Great harness

    By on

I was looking for a harness that would prevent my dog from pulling, work with a seat belt, and be easy to put on and take off. It's a great harness. I have a border collie-Australian Shepherd puppy that gets fussy when you grab her by the collar and/or try to force her into harnesses. This one is great because you can put it over her head (give her a second to calm down and) and than clip the sides without worrying that a strap will fall off. It's a little heavy (which works for me since she has a lot of energy). I love the way it clips on and doesn't have any plastic that can easily break. My only concern is if the metal gets hot and can burn her (I have used this on hikes, daytrips to beach I was looking for a harness that would prevent my dog from pulling, work with a seat belt, and be easy to put on and take off. My only concern is if the metal gets hot and can burn her (I have used this on hikes, daytrips to beach cities and so far no issues). It does take a litte adjusting to figure out how the side metal belt buckle works and the dog needs to have a little patience to let you put this on. Luckily my dog figured out this means she is going for a drive or hike and lets me do this without issue. I keep the seat belt clip in the car so I can easily "buckle her in". It also works when you want to go to a restaurant and tie the leash around the chair or table. … more

  • Worth Every Penny!

These are so well made! My little dog HATES his harness, but seems content to leave this one alone. (He has chewed threw FOUR in less than two years.) The additional strap makes it easy for us to get our dogs in and out of the car without any trouble. Make this investment in your dog's safety in the car.

  • everything we needed it to be

This harness is easily adjusted to fit my pup. Easy to get on and off of him but secure enough for he can't wiggle out of it himself. It took only a couple times taking him for a walk before he learned to stop pulling with this harness on. I couldn't be happier, if I ever have the need I'll buy it again.

  • well built, fit not exact

    By on

these work really well. Very well made. The only reason I gave it a 4 rating versus 5, is bc using the "fit" chart, it is off a little. I got a small for my 22 lb bischon. I used all the measurements it asked for and he came up a small, but it is a little big. I'm still working with all the ways to take it up on his chest, so maybe it will eventually fit if I keep tweaking it. Would purchase again and I definitely recommend it

  • Recommend only for certain breeds

    By on

I guess my Weim puppy's chest hasn't filled out enough yet because when I strap her in this harness, it always lands ender her right armpit and it looks so uncomfortable. I'd hoped it would sit evenly on her chest and still hold her in the seat. If I loosen it so it's not so tight, it gives her too much room to turn her body left and right. She's 6mos and about 55lbs, so I believe I have the correct size harness.

  • Harness runs small

    By on

I should've paid more attention to others' reviews when I ordered a harness for my 4-month old micro Bernedoodle puppy: it's very snug, even though she's on the low end of the weight range for the size I ordered (small). She weighed 10.25 lbs when she first wore it and I struggled to get it over her head. Once I did, it fit fine, but I'm afraid it won't fit her much longer. I should've ordered a Medium. Highly recommend sizing up!!

  • Nice Harness

    By on

I brought this same harness 3 other times directly from Kurgo for my Alaskan Malamute, they are more pricy so I was glad when I found this same harness from Chewy.com, but I don't like this new steel nesting buckles I prefer the plastic quick release buckles its hard to put it on your puppy when they kept moving.

  • Love it...

This has been the best harness for our dog who is a husky mix. It fits him well and I feel that the buckles won't break over time. He has not tried to chew this one off like the other ones we have purchased. Thank you for making a great quality harness.

  • MUCH EASIER TO PUT ON!

    By on

I am loving this harness. It's quite sturdy and well made. We've had other harnesses, but this one is the best in my opinion. Our puppy - Zeus's Thunder and Lightning, a 13-inch Beagle - is almost a year old now and I thought it would be easier if I didn't have to actually lift him into his "car seat" we had for him. I still have to lift him into our SUV, but not over and into a car seat. Once I figured out how to put it on and get it over his head, it's a snap to put on and take off. Yesterday, he sat in front with me on the way to the dog park and seemed quite happy. I would recommend that purchasers watch the video which is really helpful.
