Fine Tunes has more than doubled in price since I started buying it for my city birds. I must use waste-free products to comply with regulations. Now I've noticed lots more tiny seeds that all my birds reject. I resent paying more for less. The consumer shouldn't always have to bear the brunt of increased expenses to the company. Truly disappointed. Birds might have to go elsewhere to eat. This disabled senior's budget can't handle the increases.
I buy over 100 lbs of this product every month. In past it has been very satisfactory. Recent addition of the hulled white proso millet, has significantly added to the weight of the bag but has been for the most part rejected by the sparrows towhees, juncos, and doves that frequent our feeders (we have five). I am not happy in having to sweep this up and dispose of it - especially considering the extra cost of this "premium" feed.
When it says 'no waste', it means no waste. It is expensive, but you get what you paid for! Almost looks like it's fit for human consumption! :)
I buy 5 bags of this and the Fruit & Nut every 6 weeks. I've done so for years. My second last order was bad, no doubt rancid. I don't necessarily blame the brand as much as I blame the storage of the product. It was most definitely old, hopefully not toxic. This last order, we've noticed they added a ton of millet. The quality is slowly but consistently deteriorating. This stuff is way too expensive. I expect to get what I pay for. I'll give it one more try then I will be shopping around for another brand.
I've always been happy with the 15 lb. bag: the contents always smell fresh. But this last time I bought the 5 lb. bag and it smells like old wood, a real difference from the usually fresh-smelling 15 lb. bags I normally get. My problem is that If I order 2 large bags of bird seed, then I end up with a huge box which neither my husband nor I can lift (and our carriers are probably getting fed up with because they're starting to leave the box in from of our garage instead of one our porch, which is also a problem because they get rained on and we nearly run them over with our cars).
Lyric is spot on when they say "No Waste Mix". The smaller birds clean up every last speck on a daily basis. I trust that they are getting a good meal since there are no filler in the mix.
Price just keeps going up and up. I trust the quality and seed mix are not changing.
Excellent product and price. Add spicy sauce to prevent squirrels from eating all the seed. Attracts all sorts of beautiful birds.
... just wanted to show the results, if I didn't show you these results, I would be looking at an empty bird feeder, they ate is ALL!
I’ve been buying this Fine Tunes mix on Chewy for about 5 years now. It’s an exceptional feed in terms of quality and price. Nicely sized chunks of nuts and seed. My one concern is that the white proso millet content keeps increasing. Proso millet is really feller when it comes to song birds. I don’t mind a little but I’m seeing it more and more in the bottom of my feeders uneaten. Other wise a great mix.
