My older German Shepherd's were on another premium dog food for several years. One of my females tends to get hot-spots every once in a while and both scratch a lot. Their breaths were very stinky and I've had their teeth cleaned every year. A friend said it could be a gastro thing that gives them bad breath. Well, since I switched, their breath is MUCH better, their stool is good and my pickier eater doesn't need to be enticed with anything else in her food bowl.

Every bag has been inconsistent of how much freeze dried product is in there. This last I bought had absolutely none but the last bag had quite a bit. I’ve ordered it maybe four times and every bag has been different. But the dogs keep eating it but I can see they definitely prefer the ones with the freeze dried product in it. Not sure if I want to pay extra for a product that is inconsistent.

We have a 2 1/2 year old Golden/Retreiver mix. For almost 2 years we fed him Iams Pro and he kept having digestion problems, ie loose stool, vomiting, etc. After doing some research, we decided to give Merricks Grain Free a try and what a difference. His problems have cleared up, he loves the taste, and he has even lost some weight(same exercise and portions) down to 90 lbs from almost 100 lbs. Merricks is definitely more expensive than what we were paying, but it’s a small price to pay for a very important member of the family!

My pup was 20lbs underweight when I rescued her from Canada. She was boney, and after walking for a while her legs would give out. I bought this food after getting her weight up a little. She immediately loved it. She went straight in, almost didn't wait for me to open the bag. Its been about 4-5 months now, she's had every flavor and no complaints! Just love for the food. Her weight has come back, her energy is 10x and her fur is AMAZING. I would reccomend this to anyone.

No nonsense dog food

I absolutely love this food. I purchased Hero’s Banquet after learning about how they give back to veterans. Not only is it a cool cause but the food is also amazing

I absolutely love this food. I purchased Hero’s Banquet after learning about how they give back to veterans. Not only is it a cool cause but the food is also amazing. Been feeding it to my active pug and he doesn’t pass gass anymore and his coat is actually shiny. We are planning on adding a German Shepherd to Family and we will continue to feed backcountry.

I recently switched my 1 year old English Bulldog and one of my 3 year old Saint Bernards to this food. Our EB was on Purina Pro Plan Shredded Chicken & Rice but the kibble was so gosh darn big she couldn't really chew it. One of our Saints is having digestive issues so that is why we switched her from the same Purina Pro Plan. They both love it and what is nice is the kibble size is great for both breeds. I know it is way more expensive but nowadays you get what you pay for. Buy the smaller bags to switch and the once your pup is switched spend the money on the larger bag. Stinks the biggest bag is only 20 pounds but it is what it is. Also, you get to support a great cause with this particular bag.

Freeze dried, no kibble

We LOVE it!! He devoured it. For me, it doesn't smell like Kibble, and I want to give my pets the best food I can for his health.

I was very disappointed in my recent order of Merrick Backcountry Raw Infused dog food. In the past there has always been a lot of the freeze dried meat, there is very little in this bag. VERY LITTLE. Like every 10th scoop you may get a little chunk. I went back to this since I was spending just as much adding real meat to his grain free kibble so I figured I would just go back to the Backcountry. Not happy. And neither is Harry! I still have to add chicken or steak to get him to eat it now.
