Is there a difference in formulation between this and the product sold for small dogs or is it just the size of the bottle? I have both larger and smaller dogs; is it safe to give them this following the dosing instructions on the small bottle so I can just open one bottle at a time?

Same formula! I compared the bottles and it’s the same. I use the 8 oz for my 14 lbs. dog per her vet.

Can cats eat this

I just noticed I’m supposed to refrigerate after opening. I haven’t been doing this after almost finishing the 16-oz size. Could this cause burping with my dog? Any side effects or adverse reactions from not refrigerating opened product?

While this liquid product must be refrigerated once opened and used within 90 days, this is not the cause of any "fish burps", repeating, etc. These common side effects are related almost exclusively to one of two things; The first is manufacturing. Most fish oils are manufactured in the Ethyl Ester (EE) form. This is not bad however in the EE form the fish oil is not as absorbed by the body thus resulting in these common side effects - this is why most people associate the "fish burps" with fish oil. Nordic Naturals products, including their Pet Line, are manufactured in the superior Triglyceride (TG) form. In this form the fish oil is 70% more absorbed thus almost completely eliminating these common side effects. That said, the second cause can simply be sensitive digestion. Some pets (and humans) simply have a sensitive stomach to fish oils which could still cause some of these side effects like "fish burps". Something to try would be giving the pet less fish oil. Try giving the pet a greatly reduced size of the recommended serving for a few days then slowly build up to the regular serving size. Alternatively sometimes giving 1 or 2 smaller servings a day may help rather than the regular serving once a day.

As a professional dog walker/pet-sitter, I recommended omega-3 fatty acids to several clients and to a friend whose 16 year old couldn't get up and down steps. She bought Nordic Naturals and told me how she saw improvement on day one, and continues to see improvement such as Jesse "running around like a puppy." Today, my client with two 17 year old dogs said that after only a week, her dogs were running on the walks, even Candy, who has been walking slowly for some time (I thought it was due to her heart condition). She said "I'm so glad it's helping them . I'm amazed at the results and how quickly it took effect. I had to slow them down and make them walk." Her mother said Casey was "running like a puppy!" This is also good for eye and brain health, immune system and cardiovascular function. Label says to consult with veterinarian if your companion animal has a medical condition and takes medication.

Needs a Dropper

This is a great product for the issues it helps with, but it’s a messy product to deal with. It’s also fish oil so getting fish oil in places is hard to deal with

This is a great product for the issues it helps with, but it’s a messy product to deal with. It’s also fish oil so getting fish oil in places is hard to deal with. It’s impossible to stop it from running down the bottle when pouring it into a spoon. You can dry it off or wash it afterwards, but that makes an even more of a chore. We ended up finding a contiainer to store it in so we don’t have to soap wash it every time and contain the smell from the bottle and residual oil that gets on surfaces. Again, great product but it’s messy without a dropper. You can switch to the pills but it’s much more expensive depending on dose requirements.

Nothing and the shots at the vet if we were lucky maybe last a month. My granddaughter told me to try this. Omg after just one pill our world changed. One pill she took her second pill this morning. The idiot drivers at FedEx are too lazy to drive up my driveway, per Chewy instructions to deliver at the back door and left the last 3 packages in the road next to my mailbox. One was so damaged, liquid omega vitamins all over outside and inside of the box and the driver put it in a plastic bag with another Chewy order. I am totally fed up with FEdex, I should rename it, fed up FedEx! Thank goodness a neighbor down the road saw my packages in the middle of the road and brought it up to my back door. Chewy, you pay FedEx for delivery. Perhaps it would be a good idea to address this delivery fiasco with them. I had to have my order replaced twice!!!!!!
