Important Information

Fleas rise to the top of your dog's coat as they die, so consider it a triumph if you start seeing more fleas at first, after treating your pet.

Onguard Plus works to eliminate fleas in all life stages. If you’re still seeing fleas after application, it may be because your dog has picked up new fleas from the environment, which may include other pets, surfaces and outdoor areas. Don’t worry, Onguard Plus starts working immediately on any new fleas that get on your dog, eliminating them within 24 hours from contact. It may take up to 30 days to break the entire flea life cycle. Additionally, you should also treat sources of new fleas (i.e., carpet, yard, etc.) to ensure complete flea control.

About Onguard Plus Flea & Tick for Dogs

One Solution, Powerful Protection

Onguard Plus is a monthly topical spot treatment that helps eliminate fleas and ticks and protects your pet from painful bites and infestations. This flea and tick preventative treatment not only stops ticks and fleas in their tracks, but also prevents the hatching of new fleas and keeps fighting off ticks so your dog can find relief from these pests.

One Solution, Powerful Protection

Preventing Fleas at Every Turn

Fleas are not only a nuisance for your pup, but they may also cause bigger problems like flea allergy dermatitis. The best way to prevent and eliminate a flea problem is to attack them at all life stages, which Onguard Plus does efficiently.

Flea finds a home

Once on your cat, it bites to feed within just 2 hours.

Eggs are laid

In 2 days, an adult flea will lay eggs.

Eggs hatch into larvae

Eggs fall off your pet, scatter around the home, and then hatch.

Larvae turn into pupae

Pupae can wait for up to a year before emerging as adult fleas.

2 Powerful Active Ingredients

Onguard Plus uses two active ingredients that are commonly used to protect dogs from fleas and ticks. Fipronil and (S)-methoprene work together to stop an infestation in its tracks and prevent future ones. Fipronil kills adult fleas, ticks and chewing lice and aids eliminating flea eggs and larvae by disrupting their maturation. Together the two create a highly effective flea and tick preventative treatment.

One-Step Application

These topical flea and tick treatments are easy to apply and effective for up to 30 days. Choose from three treatments or six so you can keep your pet protected. Simply apply it between the shoulder blades of your pet, and the long-lasting solution will keep protecting them from fleas and ticks. The formula is both waterproof and sunlight-proof, so you don’t have to worry about reapplication throughout the month.

    Lymes disease guaranteed

By Jeff on Nov 9, 2021

I set reminders in my phone to make sure I apply it every time. I normally buy better stuff but things were tight and I settled for this product. I've had dogs my entire life and know how to apply the product to skin and not hair. With the weather starting to change in the last month I've picked five blood suckers off of one dog and four off of the other. I also treat my property with bug killer multiple times a year. So I know they aren't coming from home. If you take your dogs with you places and want to make sure they're protected look elsewhere because if not you'll be paying way more money to the vet.

    Worth a try

By Barbara on Nov 23, 2021

I was very hesitant to get this since the reviews were not that good. I decided to try it since the fleas are so bad this year. I have 2 pitbulls that if they have one flea on them they will scratch constantly. I put it on and the constant scratching stopped. I never saw any fleas on them so they weren’t overrun with them so I think this was enough to keep a few off them.

    Didn’t work! Waste of money!

By doggymama on Sep 22, 2021

I bought the 6 pack (since I have 3 dogs I figured I would get two treatments out of it with all three). The first round I gave them, I thought it was doing it’s job, seeing as they didn’t get any fleas, we would find the occasional tick on them, but we just moved into a more wooded area and we hadn’t treated it yet so I thought that was normal. Well second time around I gave it to them, and went about my usual business. My fiancé went out to his dad’s house and apparently his dad has fleas. He brought them back, and I didn’t think anything of it, because again, I treated my babies. They have been MISERABLE for days now and are covered in fleas. Now I have to spend more money to get rid of them! … more

    Doesn't work

By Lara on Oct 13, 2021

I've been giving this to my dog once a month for several months now, and just gave him another dose yesterday. The last few days, my dog has been covered in deer ticks. I just pulled three lives ticks off of him, and the other day I found one engorged and feeding on him. This product doesn't seem to kill ticks, which is the main reason I got it.

    Waste of time

By Trash on Oct 14, 2021

Doesn't work. Bought it when I saw fleas on our pup. The first few days I thought it might be working because I saw less. After a week he's miserable again. I did a second dose after a month and it hasn't worked.

    Just buy Frontline!

By Snce on Oct 17, 2021

I gave this a try for our two dogs because it had some decent reviews and a great price point. It was a definite fail! We've not been able to get control of the flees. I was really disappointed.

    Great value

By HugosMom on Oct 21, 2021

Good product for a great price. I have been using this on my 81 lb Mastiff mix for the last 6 months and I haven’t seen a tick or flea on him ever. I wish it also repelled mosquitos

We live in the country and have always had issues with fleas. We've tried many things, including home remedies with little to no improvement. We had a dog that had a bad chemical reaction to a very well-known name brand topical product several years ago, so we try to steer clear of those now.
