Description

Onsior tablets are a prescription non-narcotic, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) medication that helps control postoperative pain and inflammation associated with declawing, spaying, and neutering in pets 5.5 pounds or more and four months of age or older, for a maximum of three days.

Proudly sourced directly from the manufacturer or their approved distributor. Guaranteed genuine and backed by the manufacturer.

Uses

Onsior tablets are indicated for the control of postoperative pain and inflammation associated with soft tissue surgery in pets more than 5.5 lbs and four months of age or older, for up to a maximum of three days.

Possible Side Effects

Please contact your veterinarian if the following adverse reactions occur: decrease in appetite, vomiting, change in bowel movements, such as diarrhea or change in stool color, change in drinking or urination, or change in behavior, such as depression or restlessness.

Drug & Food Interactions

Onsior tablets should not be used in pets that have a hypersensitivity to Robenacoxib or known intolerance to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

Precautions

The use of fluid therapy during surgery is recommended to decrease potential renal complications. Appetite should be monitored—stop administration if appetite decreases or if your pet becomes lethargic. Please consult with your veterinarian before giving to pets younger than 4 months of age and weighing less than 5.5 lbs, pets used for breeding or in pregnant or lactating pets.

Please note product may arrive in a Chewy Pharmacy vial, manufacturer packaging is shown for reference.

FAQ

How does Onsior work?

Onsior is a coxib NSAID that is rapidly absorbed, persists at the site of inflammation and is rapidly cleared from the bloodstream.

Is Onsior safe?

Onsior has been shown to be well-tolerated when administered at a dose of 2 mg/kg (injection and tablets) to dogs, and at a dose of 2 mg/kg (injection) and 1 mg/kg (tablets) to cats for up to a maximum of 3 days.

Is Onsior effective?

Onsior has been shown to be effective at controlling the postoperative pain and inflammation associated with soft-tissue surgery in dogs greater than 5.5 lbs and younger than 4 months of age, and orthopedic surgery, ovariohysterectomy and castration in cats greater than 5.5 lbs and younger than 4 months of age, for up to a maximum of 3 days.

Is Onsior convenient?

Because the injectable formulation has identical dosing for dogs and cats, surgical protocols can be streamlined and may reduce the risk of dosing errors. The availability of both injectable and oral formulations make Onsior convenient to administer in the hospital and at home.

    Onsior tablets

By Gigi on Jan 4, 2022

The combination of this medication, fluids every 48 hours and prescription urinary food saved my cat. She had a calcium oxalate stone trapped in her Urethra for a period of 3 months. On this regimen her bladder is now clearing. My only complaint is the price. If the malady continues in my cat she’ll have to be on this for a long period of time, possibly life and that could get unaffordable. However, I am grateful these meds are available from Chewy and my kitty Butterscotch is doing much better now.

Effective medication for my cat’s urinary tract inflammation

By Tonya on Oct 11, 2021

This medicine purchased from Chewy is 1/3 of the cost at my veterinarian’s office. I love my veterinarian and they take excellent care of my cat, but I treating her chronic condition is costly and it helps to save a little money where possible. I also purchase her prescription urinary wet food, Cosiquin supplements, and Felway calming pheromones from Chewy. And the kitty litter for the multiple litter boxes that must be frequently changed. Having all this arrive via auto shipments makes my life easier.

    Works Wonders

By Bonn on Jun 14, 2021

My geriatric cat has arthritis and kidney disease, so it was hard to find him an NSAID that’s safer for his kidneys but Onsior does the trick! His bloodwork still looks good after taking it. I can tell from the way he walks and jumps on and off of furniture that he feels much more comfortable.

    Great Product for Senior Cat

By Sylviane on Feb 20, 2021

These pills are amazing for my 16.5-year-old cat's pain. Her knees are so bad that my vet has never seen anything like them. I can tell when my cat takes these pills that she feels better. It makes me happy that we can keep her comfortable as she ages. The fact that they are chewable makes them even better since I don't have to try to fight my cat to get her to take her pills.

Well tolerated by sensitive little cat

    By cccc on Jan 12, 2021 top1000Contributor

My daughter has chronic pain from an injury to her wrist she got while living on the street before I took her in. We've tried gabapentin and buprenex but they both make her really out of it. Not only does she not have any side effects on onsior, but it also REALLY helps her with her pain. She takes it as needed and it's easy to hide in a little cheese. Very grateful for this medication!

Gave my Senior Boy new life

By FLJRZGirl on Jan 4, 2021

When my boy started to get arthritis and up in age (he made it to 19), he would have times where he wouldn't eat for a few days and would barely move. Vet prescribed this and within a few hours, he would get the zoomies and have new found energy! We used this periodically over his last 3 years and it was amazing to see how it helped him.

Just what he needed for hip dysplasia

By MaineCoonMomma on Dec 28, 2020

Our 10 y/o Maine Coon has been having arthritis pain due to his hip dysplasia. We didn’t want to treat just the pain but the source. Onsior has been working so well for him. He doesn’t walk with a limp and he so much more active and a lot happier all around.

    My Abby boy was limping!

By AJFranklin on Aug 30, 2020

Over the course of three weeks I noticed my active, fun-loving cat start favoring his left rear leg. His usual chipper gait was now painful and his jump was diminished. My heart was breaking for my boy. My Vet took x-rays and found Arthiritis in his lower spine. This was probably giving him sciatica and pain down the leg. He had some arthritis in other joints. We started Ikey on Onsior 6 mg. One every 48 hrs. Chewy took my information and called my Vet for the Rx. Over the course of a month the results have been impressive. Although Ikey still has some limp he his running around again, jumping almost normally, and is a happy boy again. He’s got his purr back! Then we save the tenderloin of our roasted chicken so we can slice off a disc sized piece to hide the pill in. He eagerly swallows! … more
