Wouldn't Even Touch It
My dog is the hungriest, food seeking dog I've ever had. That being said, he wouldn't touch this dental treat with a ten foot pole. When I took it out of the package, it smelled overwhelmingly of white chocolate, very sweet smelling, which I found weird. He sniffed it and walked away. I tried to give it again and he took it then dropped it on the carpet and walked away. Something must be off with the flavor. He loves Greenies, so we'll use those instead!
noticeable difference in breath
Price notwithstanding, these chews are great. Dog absolutely loves them (will choose this treat over any others when given the option) and they do seem to help his breath. There is a noticeable and lasting difference when he eats these for a few days compared to when he doesn’t. I space out treats to every other day to make the bag last longer.
Dog Looks Forward to Her Nightly Treat
My vet recommended these after I took my pup to see if she needed a teeth cleaning. She mainly has plaque on the premolars and molars and her breath was pretty bad switching from a fishy smell to garbage breath. Its been 2-3 weeks since I started giving her these every night and I can safely say that these have been a god send. Her breath smells fresh all day now, and most importantly I've noticed that the plaque on the tips of the premolars has chipped off and is now showing pearly white teeth. Extra bonus is that she goes nuts when I take one out of the bag. Only downside is that I have to hold it and try to slow her down from scarfing it down in less than 3 minutes. Sometimes I even stick it into a kong to keep her entertained for a while longer.
Our Girl Loves Them
We rescued a husky/collie mix that had some moderate tartar on her teeth. She was 2 years old when we adopted her and we do not know what type of food, treats, etc. she was given in her first 2 1/2 years. We had her teeth professionally cleaned at the vet and they sent us home with a 14 count bag of OraVet and I also purchased a 30 count from Chewy. The vet's office recommended these chews because the chews take more than a minute to finish and that is what you want your dog to achieve in helping with tartar control. Our dog loves them and it takes her about 5-7 minutes to eat. The chews, along with brushing her teeth daily, hopefully will aid in any tartar build-up.
Horrible for the Environment
WHY are these individually wrapped!?!? They come in a resealable bag that should keep them fresh. There is absolutely no reason to be so utterly wasteful. We’ve been buying Greenies for the last 3 years and the dogs love them, but these were recommended and less expensive, so we figured we’d give them a try. The dogs were very skeptical at the change and did eventually eat them, but we will not be buying these again unless the packaging changes to something far less wasteful.
Dog loves them
Our vet recommended these after we shelled out big bucks for the 12 year old re-homed dog who had NEVER had his teeth cleaned. I was a bit put off by the price but his breath smells SO much better. He’s 90 lbs and actually chews on them, too, so I’m happy that he wasn’t just inhaling them like he does anything else. He is supposed to stay out of the dining room while we eat dinner and I use these as his “treat” for obeying. It’s a win for everyone because it keeps him obedient and cleans his teeth.
Not for powerful chewers
My 70lb Labrador took 5 seconds to chew this in half and then swallow the two pieces whole. Might work for a less powerful chewer who would actually nibble on and chew this product. But do not recommend for a large breed dog that is a powerful chewer. Tried 2 - dog did the same with both, so gave the bag to someone with a small dog.
Vet recommended and loving them
My rescued senior Boxer/APBT loves these. Even with his missing teeth, he is easily able to chew these. He was not a fan of other dental chews (nor was I for multiple reasons) but these, these he loves and whole heartedly consumes. I love the smell of these and love seeing my boy so excited to “brush his teef”.
I wonder where the yellow went?
Our Vet, Dr. Kathy, recommended it for our Golden Retreiver rescue. It works! Also he has have kissing fresh breath. A miracle! Thank you Dr. Kathy and Oravet!
They still have poopy breath
I gave it 2 stars because 2 out of 3 of my dogs liked them as a treat and none of them will eat 'greenies', but my big German shepherd basically told me, "nice try" as he turned his nose up and walked away. These did not change my one dog's bad breath at all, nor did it scrape any plaque off of either of them.
