About This Item

Details

  • Eco-Straw uses special technology to compress high fiber wheat straw into a pellet that is twice as absorbent as newspaper based litter and will absorb 300 percent its weight in moisture.
  • When wet, Eco-Straw pellets expand and separate, allowing the wet areas to be scooped on a daily basis. This eliminates waste and the litter will last longer than traditional wood shavings. Easier to clean means less time cleaning cages and more time with your pet. Eco-Straw stays in the cage and litter pan and is not easily kicked or thrown out by active pets
  • Natural fiber from the wheat grass plant is not only safe if consumed by your pet, but can be beneficial to the digestive system of rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas and other plant eating animals.
  • Eco-Straw is your ideal choice for a safe, dust free litter or bedding for your pet. It is toilet flushable and beneficial to the soil when composted. Heat treatment of the pellets guarantees that Eco-Straw will be mite and insect free.
  • Eco-Straw is cleaner and more hygienic for your pet than wood shavings. Due to the unique characteristics of Eco-Straw the urine will migrate below the surface area thereby moving moisture away from your pet. Eco-Straw will not track or stick to coats of animals with long hair, thus making the owner and pet more content and happy.

Never going back

I have been through a lot of different rabbit litters since we got our rabbits a few months ago. I used more expensive pellets that worked well but were used up too quickly. I also tried the corn husk litter and that was basically useless. I love these pellets. They really absorb the urine and the odor so I do not have to use as much for it to be effective. Never going back.

Decent litter

I bought this to use with my cats. At this point, I’ve tried every kind of litter there is after my former favorite brand switched formulas. Anyway, this DOES NOT clump. When the pellets get wet, they break apart. Because of this and the fact that my cats move the litter around when covering their business, I’m not sure how well the company’s claim about easily scooping clumps holds up. Because of the pellet size, tracking is very minimal, which is nice because I live in a 500 sq ft apartment and don’t want litter in every nook and cranny. I don’t use a real litter scoop with this, but instead a big plastic ladle to pick the poo out and stir the litter. The odor control is amazing, but a cloud of dust was created when I first poured the litter out. However, when scooping and stirring the litter, I don’t see any dust. So far I’m happy with the litter, but time will tell how well it holds up, how often it will need to be changed, and ultimately whether or becomes my new go-too litter.

Dusty afff

Overall for the price, it's absolutely great. But there is literally so much freaking dust that I have to literally wear a mask when I'm replacing their litter and some of the pieces are sooo small? Overall it works great.. but when you put the litter into the pan so much dust flies up and in general it's just too much. It gets in my eyes and I wear glasses too man.

Love This Bedding!

I’ve used this as part of my litter box filling for my bunny for years. I do a layer of paper bedding, a layer of these pellets, and then a layer of paper bedding on top. Really helps control smell and absorb liquid so litter box cleaning is easier compared to paper bedding alone. I change the whole litter box on every 3rd or 4th day. I feel better about using these than pine pellets, since the safety of pine pellets is controversial.

Not a good choice for puppy litter

I use pellets to train my puppies in a potty box starting at 3 weeks. These are the worst pellets I’ve ever used.

Works well, but horrible smell

The first bag we got of this was great and worked well at keeping the bunny litter box dry as it absorbed liquids well. However, the next 2 bags we've gotten smell awful and make the whole space smell when the bag is opened. As other reviewers have mentioned, it smells like something rotten. I don't know why it changed so much.

great alternative to yesterday's news

ever since yesterday's news got discontinued, this has been our go to and it works just as great in my opinion. It is a little pricier but there isn't another option at this point

Good alternative to yesterdays news

I like this stuff-- I resorted to wheat straw pellets for my rat cage when purina stopped making Yesterdays News, and though I don't think they work quite as well, they work better than any alternative I've tried and unlike some other paper-based alternatives I've tried, the smell of these is actually somewhat pleasant. Just be aware, these did start to mold after 7 days under a drippy water bottle. I took off one star for the price. I think this is pretty expensive for what you get so although I will likely keep buying, it does make me cringe a little bit every time I press 'add to cart'.

WORST BEDDING EVER

I CAN'T say enough on how bad this stuff is. The smell this has is like sour milk. I had to dump this after 2 days. the water bottle I use leaked a little and the mess and slime that the litter created was horrifying!!!! I didn't want to give it a star at all.

Works great with a little help

One downside to this product is that the pellets are large so that the clean pellets didn't sift out when I was scooping the box, but I didn't want a scoop with bigger holes or I wouldn't catch the little rabbit poos. I solved this by getting a poop screen for the box that sits on top of the litter. This way I can easily lift out the poos, and then just scoop out the wet litter underneath. The other downside is that the pellets do start to fall apart like sawdust when they are wet. The upside is that this litter is AMAZING at odor control (very good for rabbit pee) and is very absorbent. For those reasons, I still recommend this product.
