PetSafe Busy Buddy Tug-A-Jug Treat Dispenser Tough Dog Chew Toy, Small

This is the only puzzle feeder/toy they sell on this site that has taken Mouse multiple hours to empty!!! He has a love/hate relationship with it. Some reviewers mention it breaking - maybe their dog is a heavier chewer, or it’s a new design or theirs was a fluke, but the thing is sturdy as heck. The rope toy is thick and well-tied, the bottle itself is thick tough plastic, and the ball cover thing for the opening of the bottle is hard enough to prevent being torn off. It holds almost two cups of kibble which is A+++. I will play tug of war with him with it when he gets bored of trying to get the kibble out. Some reviews mention their dogs not being able to get food out - Mouse got a full cup of kibble out in less than two hours, so it is very possible, and it’s a blessing for dogs that are too clever for many puzzle feeders! Our other dog wouldn’t be able to get food out of this even if it was just an open bottle without the rope toy, so it definitely depends on the dog. I wouldn’t recommend this for dogs that are big power chewers - we had a dog that would tear chunks out of black Kong toys, he would have destroyed this - but for moderate chewers who are more interested in trying to get the food out by pawing or kicking (or whining) than chewing, i highly recommend it!!

At last, a toy my 1 yr. old Cavalier King Charles (A.K.A. the "toy terrorist") hasn't destroyed! We've had the small size Tug-a-Jug for a few months. It's made of a very sturdy plastic, and although it can be very noisy hitting a wood or tile floor, playing on a carpeted floor is no problem. When we 1st got the toy, she couldn't master getting the treats out, got frustrated & lost interest. Could be because she was very young, could be the treats weren't appealing enough to keep her sniffing interest. To note: I was trying to stuff the treats through the top & got myself frustrated trying to get them in myself, so I could understand a young puppy's frustration; until this stupid human recently realized you can UNSCREW the bottom to get treats in & duh, now I can clean it too. We had it put away for a while until after she had destroyed most all her other toys, we pulled this one back out & gave it another shot. I tried a different type of treat (mini dry dog biscuits broken in half) & she can now figure out how to play with it to get it to dispense treats & it is now one of her favorite toys. Happy puppy, happy mommy since this is about the only toy she hasn't chewed through. I've also had excellent experience with both Chewy & the manufacturer (PetSafe) having stellar customer service if I had a problem with anything. I gave 4 instead of 5 stars only because the toy is a bit on the heavy side for small dogs & some dogs may easily get frustrated if they can't get it to work, but otherwise it is a great toy.

When I first gave this to her I had put small, soft, smelly treats in it. She wasn't a huge fan. She sniffed it and walked away. I left it there though, thinking maybe she would show some interest in it eventually. Well a couple days later, I hear tons of noise and clanking upstairs. I come upstairs to see her playing with this toy trying with all her might to get those treats out! She ended up getting them all out eventually. Today, it's too hot for her to play outside but I want her to get some exercise so I put treats in this thing and gave it to her. She immediately went to work on it and hasn't left it alone since I gave it to her! She loves this toy. It's really loud and kind of annoying hearing it hit the sides of the walls and stuff (I can't imagine what it would be like on hardwood floors!) but it's keeping her entertained and she loves a good mental challenge, so I'm happy with it!

This Busy Buddy Tug-A-Jug Dog Toy is another of the durable toys we got for our 15 mo old mini pincher, who is a very strong chewer. Nothing lasts very long once he gets it in his clutches. This interactive/mind stimulating toy has 3 different materials on it. It has hard plastic that does scratch but is tough enough to stay in tact; it has the rope that makes it easy to grab and run with; and it has a durable rubber stationery ring around the neck for soft cleaning of his teeth. The treats go inside the bottom and the holes in the removable cover let him know there are goodies inside. Keeps him busy for hours. The treats don't come out to easily which is the challenging part for him and for us it's the...aahhhh moment...as he's safe and having fun!!!
