Is it possible that this could spray people and other pets of they get too close to the device?

This spray uses infrared to detect changes in temperature and is designed to deter pets up to 3 feet away.
I see this is 1 part of an automatic/motion "sense" like package. Does this can work without the motion senser part? Like, if I bought a couple of these, can I just spray them as needed - does it have a functioning spray top that can be used on it's own?

This Deterrent Spray is a harmless but startling automatic spray that reminds your pet to stay away from the area or object. This Spray cannot be used manually.
What is the spray made of? I do not see any information.

This deterrent spray uses HFO-1234ze gas. It's scentless, stainless and harmless spray, safe for people, animals and environment.
Can adjust how much spray comes out? We ran through our first can very quickly

The nozzle can be adjusted to spray to distances up to 3 feet. Overall, each acn will have 80-100 sprays.

Would give a 3 star, but who reads those?

Sensor seems hit and miss. Mostly hits me, and misses the cats. When it does manage to get the cats, they really don't like it, so I guess it's good in that way. Pretty expensive investment.

Works but too expensive

Got these to keep one of the cats off the counters and table. It works, but doesn't last long at all, especially for almost $17 per can, not worth it.

Love Ssscat!

I bought my first set (can and motion detector) of Ssscat because my kitten was destroying my boyfriends Train layout! Then I got another set so I could bake in peace, without him surfing the counter! Works wonders

Works great!

I read all the reviews and wanted to give it a try anyway. It really is a great idea and it does work. I mainly wanted to keep my cat off the counter. It does do that. And I want to keep my cats away from my new sofa. They don't like the spray. It is expensive and the can doesn't last as long as I would like, but it is doing the job.

Great deterrant

this product is great when you find that nothing else is keeping your cats away from something - I've used it on tables and shelves to keep the cats from breaking things. A few times they get the spray, they stop trying!

Emptied completely on first night

The can emptied out completely It leaked from base. I put top on as tight as I could and straight but it still leaked. Was empty next morning

Keeps cats off Christmas tree

Tired of having the Christmas tree bothered? The can emits a quick shot of air if the cat gets too near. Adjustable for height of spray. I think the sound keeps the cats away as well.

Didn't work as promised

I was very disappointed with this product. Although many of the reviews said it did not work for them, I wanted to give it a try. It seemed to either not detect motion at all or have a delayed reaction. Since that was the case it did not suit my needs.

It works but....

I'm giving this product 4 stars because it does, in fact, work. I couldn't give it five stars because although it will keep my cat off of the counter, it's not because he has learned some sort of lesson, it's just because he's terrified of the can. I can set the empty can down in the middle of floor and he'll just stay away from the can while he's jumping up on the counters. Also, this product is not cheap and the can was empty only 3 days.
