I love my pioneer pet fountains. Unfortunately the plastic parts inside are kinda crappy. Not the filters, they filter fine and they do not have any stress on them at all. However I have had to replace some of the plastic housing on the pump/filter units before this and the plastic is flimsy and junky and I would rather that my cats (no dogs at present) did not have to drink water filtered through plastic. Nevertheless, the fountains are great except for the flimsy plastic parts.
First - the filters are supposed to be rinsed before use to wash out any residual charcoal. Most of the complaints are about the residual charcaol - easy to fix. Cats need clean fresh water; fresh clean available water promotes kidney health. The design of the stainless fountain allows the cat to choose between the flowing water or the still pond. The stainless fountain is more resitant to bacterial growth than ceramic or plastic - big plus. The filters help to clean debris and keep the water fresher for longer. I have two of these fountains for 3 cats. I change the filters once a month and wash the fountain once a week. Throughout the week just add fresh cold water (or ice cubes!) as they are drinking it. My cats like it when I add ice cubes.
I have had a Pioneer Pet water fountain and filters for years. I do like the product but I wish Pioneer Pet had the option of purchasing the plastic container that houses the filter mechanism. There is an option to purchase the filter but not the container it sits in--why? Otherwise, I highly recommend the filter replacements and fountains.
I've had my Pioneer Pet Fountain for several years now. It works beautifully. My two cats and one dog love it. Replacement parts are easy to get through Chewy. It's stainless steel design makes it clean, efficient, and durable.
Bought a set of filters for my new fountain. Have not had to use them yet, but the one that came with the fountain seems to be doing a great job! I read a review before I bought it and the review said that the stainless steel fountains tend to show dirt quickly, but I have not observed this (plus I wanna know if there's dirt so I can clean it!) I assume it is because these filters are so efficient. A day or two after I set it up, one of my cats vomited right into the fountain. Gotta love it. I was impressed though how hard the filter worked to try to clear it out! While cleaning, the filter was super easy to just rise off.
Does what it says on the box; which is all that can be asked for a water filter
We have had a hard time securing these water filters for our cat's water fountain. So very happy Chewy has this product.
I've been a happy customer of Pioneer Pet's stainless steel fountain for several years. However, over the last year, I've been noticing consistent problems with black, slimy residue on all the fountain parts. I ordered new parts and new filters. The new parts were mostly good, but it became apparent that the filters were defective and the cause of the black, slimy residue. I've tried contacting Pioneer Pet but they don't respond to either phone calls or emails. This last package was the worst. I love the fountain, but without proper parts and filters, it's useless and I won't have Arwen drinking from what is clearly a fountain contaminated by defective filters. I sincerely hope through this review that Pioneer Pet will address this issue.
Love getting everything from chewy. All my pet needs in one place. *****
I bought replacement filters and pump because I anticipated my dog using the fountain, but he wouldn't.
