Dog starts to hyperventilate in a storm or on fireworks days, so I give her one pill broken into four pieces. She is about 50 pounds and 15 years old.
I bought this to help with my dog's anxiety over riding in the car. My dog would not eat this supplement. It smells like the herbs it's made out of and seems as though no flavoring has been added to entice a dog to want to eat it. Trying to get him to eat it initially caused added anxiety rather then relieving any of his anxiety. I then tried grinding it up and hiding it in some canned food to see if it would help with anxiety. He was still hesitant to eat it but did eventually consume all of it. I didn't notice a reduction in anxiety after he consumed the supplement.
I wanted to try this prosense calming tablets for my senior dog, because he occasionally gets stressed and for my young Blue Heeler mix because she has excessive energy that living on 3 acres doesn't wear off. She is always on... so I thought this might help on occasion when there is a lot going on outside that keeps her on guard. I'm still haven't found out if it helps. Apparently it tastes horrible, my senior who never hesitates to take vitamins spit it out and said "not going to happen" the other who would eat a rock was so reluctant and finally swallowed a small piece. It does have a strong fragrance. I haven't tried again but I will.
I didn't find that they helped calm my dog at all. He almost seemed more anxious. He drools alot after taking them. Sometimes he also vomits stomach acid later. He did eat them okay for the most part until toward the end of the bottle.
We have not used this yet. Bought for Fawn during travel.
Dog initially spit out the first one. Gave it to him again and now he happily eats the recommended 2 a day tablets
As someone else said I agree they work along side training. It does take some time to kick in and yes they are large pills. I've used these when I know a storm is coming or if there are fire works. She doesn't get them everyday. That said just like people not everything works for each dog. Each one is different.
Very good at taking the edge off. If you're looking for a sedate animal, this is not your go-to. I have a 14 lb terrier-mix rescue. We don't know her history, but she was obviously abused. She was painfully shy and always scared of noises. Once she started feeling safe she still was twitchy and jumpy. Never aggressive. I started giving these to her and she slowly continued to calm. I thought she would be fine without them and stopped her daily supplement. Edginess returned and I put her back on them. These ease her reaction to stimuli to where she calms herself rather than goes into a panic attack. It is subtle but effective. I don't want her doped up, but rather something to help her cope. These seem to accomplish this safely and healthfully.
I have a 7 yr old pit bull mix who has separation anxiety. I have tried a multitude of products including and not limited very expensive CBD treats and nothing has worked with the exception of these tabs.... I give her two every morning and she is completely relaxed all day. These calming tabs just may depend on the dog as they do not work on my 1.5 yr old grand puppy (bully pit pure bred). My dog chews them up as she would a regular treat..
My 1 yr old Border Collie is high drive with mild separation anxiety. One tablet a day takes the edge off and he is able to have impulse control.
