Curious on this product if a non diabetic cat can also eat it I am having problems with feeding time for my diabetic boy wanting to eat with his litter mates
Answer by ChewyFeb 01, 2018
Since this is a prescription food formulated to meet specific diet restrictions from known health issues, this food should not be fed to any other animal than the one prescribed due to the restriction of specific nutrients. Prescription diets can be detrimental to an otherwise healthy pet if that pet doesn't have the ailment for which the food is designed.

What is the carbohydrate content in this food?
Answer by ChewyApr 16, 2023
The carbohydrate content in this formula is 23.54% as Fed and 25.59% as Dry Matter.

About how many cups per bag?
Answer by ChewyNov 21, 2019
There are approximately 17.6 cups of kibble in this 4.4 pound bag.

Mr. Chow LOVES IT!!!

The foods I can give my little boy "Mr. Chow" are very limited, due to him being diagnosed with diabetes recently, and I kind of felt bad, he can't eat any of the supermarket dry foods. I was very sceptical when I bought Royal Canin Gycobalance, and it's a little more pricey than the regular foods, but Mr. Chow really loves it... WHAT A RELIEF!!! Mr. Chow is very finicky, and this is probably the only thing the vet recommened he really enjoys. I'm so happy to have him back on dry food, along with his canned. Thank you Royal Canin!!! :-)

Okay, but gave cat allergies

This food is fine. Both of my cats eat it and seem to like it just fine. But they both ate salmon based food for their whole lives before I needed to switch to this, and I’m now finding out that my prediabetic cat is allergic to chicken. There doesn’t seem to be a dry food for diabetes that ISN’T chicken, so I have to choose between diabetes and allergies that make him shed, throw up, and rub his nose/ears raw. I wish there was something I could do for him. It’s a pretty pricey food but it still gets 3 stars for lowering his glucose. Other, nondiabetic cat also eats this food and is fine with it.

Needs better bag

This is the most expensive cat food on the market. Almost. Why do they have such poor packaging.? Every other even cheap pet food comes in a reclosable bag. For the price of this stuff you think they could spend a few cents on a reclosable bag.

Dry food for my diabetic cat

I held my breath when I ordered this because my cat is so “finicky” when it comes to special diets BUT I have to say she is slowly starting to like it!!

Terrific food

My cat loves kibble but the glycobalance he had her on wants staying her hunger. This food keeps her full and her coat is soft and shiny.

Chewy's quick response was amazing. In just a day it was delivered. After waiting a month to get delivery and my cat not eating properly from another company it was wonderful dealing with Chewy. Thank you Chewy.

High on Carbs

My feline cat was recently diagnosed with diabetes. I was given a list of food from wet and dry to switch my cat over too. Aside from being expensive and aside from the fact No Carbs should be avoided with diabetic cats, how is it possible this dry food is high on carbs? Especially, if this is a diet for diabetic cats. My cat loved it, but I switched her over to Purina DM which is a low 17 percent in carbs. I do combine both a wet and dry food balance which the vet has recommended. I just would stay away from these dry kibbles

Diabetic food

Excellent food for diabetic cats. Used this food for several cats over the years. Also like wet food as well.

Glucose shot up 2 months after starting

Jasper has been in Diabetic remission for over 2 years, we took her for a checkup and got her blood tests in July '22. All Good! We asked the vet for a different food just for variety, they recommended this food. In Sept '22 she started excessively drinking and urinating (I MEAN A LOT) we took her back for tests, Glucose levels were through the roof!! We have stopped giving this food and she improving, staying with the Purina DM kibble.

Good taste

My cats love the taste of this food. I only use it as a treat since it’s much higher in carbs than the wet food they get. There is not any hard treat options for diabetes that I have found. This food is perfect for it.
