Prior to switching my diabetic cat to Glycobalance, I had been using Urinary SO wet food. With my first case of Glycobalance, I immediately noticed a consistency difference relative to the other wet food. These cans appeared to have a higher water content. If I didn't know better, I would say they were just watered-down versions of other Royal Canin food. I worked through my first case and started into my second case of cans. The consistency in the second case was COMPLETELY different from the first. Far less water, far more food. I'm highly concerned about the quality control for this product. Either a) royal canin has little control over the formula that goes into these cans or worse b) they mistakenly put a Glycobalance label on a different line of food. Regardless, the new wet food is elevating my cat's glucose level more than the first case. Very unhappy and disappointed. Will be calling royal canin and chewy to resolve.
Angel is a very picky eater and was only able to eat one brand of soft food and hard food for the last six years. Since she’s developed diabetes I had to switch her food. The first I tried she constantly threw up. I tried the Royal Canin referred by my vet and Angel absolutely loves it.
Our Vet prescribed Royal Canin as it was the only cat food with SO component that helps dissolve stones. After just three weeks our Vet was extremely happy with the progress as the bladder was free of stones and just had small grains left. We will continue to use this food until the condition clears up. Our cat likes both the canned and the hard food. It is expensive but it does what it is supposed to do. Very satisfied especially after trying 3 other brands that did not do the job.
When switching my cats food from the other diabetic food (which smelled horrible and have little gritty bits) I was so relieved that this appeared like regular cat food along with a decent smell and texture. I have two requests: 1) make bigger cans 2) have another flavor for variety. Otherwise, very pleased that me cat devours her meals. Thanks!
My cat loves this food. He is a picky eater, but not a problem with glycobalance; he lacks his bowl dry.
My pet sitter started using this when we were gone, and I slowly lessen the amount, and my 19 year old cat is doing fantastic. I had used the dry Glycobalance for years, but this seems to have calmed his stomach and he's doing so much better with the vomiting, and I love it!
Our aging diabetic cat has grown tired of the special Purina food for diabetics, so this has been a good addition to his diet. I wish it came in a pate, because he's lacking a lot of teeth and has trouble chewing the little flakes.
When I tried to switch my cat Danny Trejo to canned glycobalance he would only eat the gravy and left the tender pieces to spoil. However, if I put it in a blender he will eat it all. So expensive though. For perspective, this product is more expensive than a NY strip steak.
I am sure this is an excellent food for diabetic cats, but mine quit eating for a few days after feeding it to him. In fact, none of my 4 cats would eat it. I did like the small bits of meat and the gravy appearance.
One of our cats living well at 21yo with diabetes was eating another brand and this was highly recommended by our Vet in case the other brand might not be always available. Our kitty loves it!
