Description

Tired of scooping your cat's smelly litter? With the Ultra Automatic box from ScoopFree, you can go hands-free and finally stop breaking a sweat. This innovative, top-entry litter box does all the work for you, keeping itself clean without all that stinky hassle. When your cat crawls in to do his business, litter crystals absorb liquid waste and dehydrate solid waste to destroy odors. Then, an automatic rake sweeps through to push the mess out of sight, out of mind, and out of your nose! It keeps itself clean, without needing you to scoop, clean or refill it for weeks. When it comes time to reload, simply place the lid on the disposable tray and throw it away. The crystal litter is 99% track-free, but, if that's not enough, the top-entry hood is built with a large, grated surface for even more protection against tracking. Plus, an included health counter makes sure you know how often your kitty uses the box—so you can keep a watchful eye on his behavior! ScoopFree makes your life easier, your home cleaner and your cat happier. What could be better?

Key Benefits
  • Self-cleaning box keeps itself tidy for weeks—with no scooping, cleaning or refilling—so you can focus on your favorite parts of being a cat parent.
  • Crystal cat litter first absorbs liquids and dehydrates solid waste, then the automatic rake shoves it all into a covered trap—which means you never have to touch or see the smelly stuff.
  • Litter crystals rarely stick to cats' paws, but this top-entry hood has a grated surface that adds extra protection from tracking.
  • Built-in health counter tells you how many times your cat has used the box, so you can easily track your cat's habits and share results with your veterinarian.
  • Cleaning up is simpler than ever—just stick the lid on the disposable tray and toss it in the trash!

Here are some tips to help get the most life from the Disposable Crystal Litter Tray.

  • ScoopFree Disposable Litter Trays work best if placed AWAY from areas of high humidity such as bathrooms, showers, and basements. Moisture in the air can shorten the life of the crystal litter and disposable tray. Place in a room with moving air to pull away moisture, such as a room with a fan.
  • Cats with diets high in crude fiber and ash content will produce more solid waste. This may prematurely fill the waste trap. Consider changing the cat’s diet to a food with no byproducts or fillers.
  • Increased elimination habits of older cats and cats with diabetes, kidney and thyroid problems may result in a shorter tray life.
  • Stirring litter crystals once a week may help the tray life for cats that are ill or have a high urine output. Stirring will also distribute saturated crystals, which will also help with cats consistently urinate in the same spot or do not dig. Be sure to mix in the crystal litter from behind the rake and along the sides of the litter box. DO NOT mix in litter from under the waste trap.
  • Kittens are not as developed so their solid waste can be runny. Kittens will go through litter trays faster than adult cats. It is recommended to use ScoopFree with cats that are older than 6 months.

CAUTION: If your kitten is under 6 months of age, leave the unit UNPLUGGED and scoop waste until kitten is 6 months old.

Care & Cleaning

The ScoopFree Self-Cleaning Litter Box seldom needs cleaned because of its revolutionary design. Surfaces that would normally become soiled are discarded with each Disposable Crystal Litter Tray. However, you may occasionally choose to clean the litter box.

WARNING Do not submerge or expose the electrical components to water or cleaning solutions. Always unplug the unit when not in use, before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning.

To Clean:

  1. Unplug power adapter from wall outlet and disconnect from the litter box.
  2. Lift and remove the litter box frame from the crystal litter tray.
  3. Remove waste trap cover by tilting it outwards until the side posts fall out of the slots on the front of the litter box frame.
  4. Wipe all surfaces on the litter box frame with a cloth or sponge using mild soap and water. Wipe rake with sponge or soft brush. DO NOT use bleach or chemicals to clean as they can act as a repellent to your cat.
  5. Clean the Detection Sensors on the interior sides of the litter box frame to make sure they are not blocked.
  6. Thoroughly dry all parts before reassembling the litter box.

To Reassemble:

  1. Install the waste trap cover by sliding the posts on the side of the cover into the slots on the front of the litter box frame.
  2. Install the litter tray (see “Litter Tray Installation” page 8).

Troubleshooting

Indicator light is flashing rapidly, and rake is at home position.

  • Check if waste trap is full. If so, replace litter tray.
  • Check for obstructions and remove if necessary.
  • Make sure magnets on waste cover are properly attached to litter tray. If not, lift waste cover and lower it back down; you should hear a “click” when correctly attached to the tray.
  • Make sure waste trap cover is properly installed.
  • Ensure litter box is level and seated properly on litter tray.
  • Ensure litter is evenly distributed. Never add extra litter.
  • Unplug the litter box and wait a few seconds. Plug the litter box in again. When the rake returns to the home position, the indicator light will glow solid green.

Indicator light is flashing rapidly (8 times per second), and rake is stopped several inches away from the home position.

  • Check for any obstructions behind the rake. If so, unplug the litter box and remove obstruction. Wait a few seconds.
  • Plug the litter box in again. The rake should return to the home position and the indicator light will turn on solid green.

Indicator light is flashing medium (4 times per second), and system will not rake after the countdown time elapses.

  • Check to see if the detection sensors are obstructed.
  • Unplug box and clear any litter or waste that may have collected on the sensors. After cleaning, plug it back in.
  • When the rake returns to the home position, the indicator light should turn on solid green.

Magnets on waste trap cover do not attach to litter tray.

  • Waste trap cover may not be properly installed. See “Care and Cleaning” page 13 to remove and reinstall waste trap Cover.
  • Then press down on waste trap cover or lift waste trap on litter tray until you hear a click, indicating magnets have attached to the tray.

Litter box frame is not level on litter tray.

  • The litter box should rest on the litter tray when installed, not on the floor. Make sure the litter box is completely level on the litter tray (see “Litter Tray Installation ” page 8).
FAQ

Can ScoopFree Self-Cleaning Litter Box be used with multiple cats?

ScoopFree was designed for use with one or two cats. If you have more than two cats, it is recommended to have at least one litter box for every two cats.

How will I know when to change the litter tray?

You should change the litter tray when either of the following occurs: * The crystal litter is saturated. As the crystals absorb urine, the litter will start to turn yellow. Once the majority of the litter turns yellow, the crystals are nearing their saturation point. When the crystals can no longer absorb any more moisture, you may start to notice an odor from the urine. * The waste trap is full. When the waste trap is full, the waste trap cover will not close completely. You may see small pieces of solid waste sticking out from underneath the lid. You may also start to notice an odor from the solid waste.

Reduction in smell is worth it!!

    By on

We have had this litter box (with top entrance lid) for one month and have had no issues with litter box odor. We love the crystal litter and it is comparable to the cost of traditional clumping litter as crystals last longer. Our two cats are seniors (16 and 14 years old) and had no issue transitioning to this box. We do scoop the poop once a day since we have two cats. The crystals dry out the poop quickly and greatly reduce/remove odor. We may try clumping litter as we have a box remaining from use with our previous litter box. We are confident we would go back to crystals as our experience has been good.

    ZERO stars

I LOVE chewy I get ALL of my supplies from them and each product has been great quality until this one. All I have to say is a warning: the bottom is NOT plastic contrary to what the image looks like, it's just cardboard so, despite using the right litter (that came with it) our ONE cat's pee disintegrated the bottom within a week. And it soaked to our tile. Just no bueno. Also, it's super bulky and our house is small so, not great in that respect either, but mostly it not being plastic was the issue.

    My cats love it!

    By on

My cats were used to a top entry kitty liter box so they took to this right away. It is almost like a toy to them when the cleaning feature kicks in. They come from wherever they are to listen and it's not that loud really. As for odor control, I have no complaints. I like the cleanliness of the system, it's change out system, and no litter spillage to the outside of the system. Spendy yes, but well made. Overall, you won't be disappointed.

I wish I had bought this sooner

    By on

I was nervous to buy because my cat does not cover her poop. A friend had success with her cat and convinced me to try it out. It has been almost a month with no issues. My cat took to it immediately and the rake has had no issues. The smell level is low. I have it behind a cat door in a closet and I do not notice a smell outside the closet.

    Very disappointed

I thought this would take care of the litter odor but I think it’s actually worse. The waste is scooped under the lid of a cardboard box but it is still somewhat open and the smell is awful. I’d rather scoop everyday.

Like that I don't have to scoop everyday

    By on

So I bought this because I hate having to clean the litterbox everyday (like literally the only bad part of owning an indoor cat) it works great to scoop the poop under its storage flap but it does nothing for the poop smell... i don't have any issues with urine smell and its 2 cats using it but the poop doesn't stop stinking until at least an hr after its pushed under the storage flap. I'm considering adding baking soda to the litter mixture but worried about messing up the system so haven't. I think next time I'll fork over the extra 200 and get the litter genie that hooks to your toilet.

    Awesome Cat litter box!

    By on

I purchased this automatic litter box because I was tired of scooping and replacing the litter and because we have a puppy that likes to eat cat poo lol. For the first week I left the hood off so my cats would get used to it first then I attached the hood and showed them how to use it, took about 7 days to train them to use it but they never messed inside the house. Our cats go in and outside. Because of this I only have to change this easily removable and throw away box once a month. We were spending $30-40 a month on traditional cat litter and had to scoop clean and change every week. Now I just take off the removable top, put the lid on top and throw it away!!! This product I cannot say enough about, it was totally worth every penny and now I don’t have to worry about my puppies eating cat Poo. We also purchased the reusable tray in case we have a hard time finding the refills but that’s just a backup so far. … more

Disappointing for the cost of litter

    By on

I looked forward to this litter box after reading a lot of good reviews. Unfortunately, my experience with it has been awful. I never leave reviews, but this one has been really frustrating because of the positive reviews I read before I purchased. I have two cats, so I knew that I would have to change the litter more frequently than recommended. That being said, I can barely even make it ten days before it smells so bad I can't go in the room where this box is because the litter is completely saturated with urine. In an attempt to save money I purchased the reusable plastic tray (the disposable cardboard trays literally double your cost). Big mistake. Luckily I had someone to help me dump the tray full of feces and urine into a trash bag, otherwise, it would have ended up all over my floor. It was also incredibly hard to clean. I'll have to go back to paying twice the amount for the disposable cardboard boxes. I had high hopes based on the positive reviews, but right now I'm just wishing I had stuck with my traditional scoop litter box. This has just been a huge waste of money over the last 4 months. The reason it gets two stars instead of one is that it would work great if I could afford to replace the litter every week (or more) - but at $15+ a bag, I'm not willing to do that. Wish I could return and get my money back. The only thing I like this for is if I have to go out of town for a couple of days and have someone checking in on the cats so I don't have to ask them to scoop the box. Otherwise, no benefits over the traditional scoop box in my mind. If they could improve the litter, I'd be a much happier customer. … more

    Was better before

    By on

I absolutely loved this box when I purchased it about a year ago. Although there was some oder, it worked really well with little tracking. Such a nice change from all of the clay litters I had tried. Recently, however, they must have changed the crystals. They no longer seem to allow the evaporation of the urine, so after just a few days, the urine oder is really bad. We tried stirring the litter but it all turned into a gooey gel at the bottom of the box. I am still using this because I haven't found a better solution but I do wish they had not changed the crystals, especially at the price.
