Description

Tired of scooping your cat's smelly litter? With the Ultra Automatic box from ScoopFree, you can go hands-free and finally stop breaking a sweat. This innovative, top-entry litter box does all the work for you, keeping itself clean without all that stinky hassle. When your cat crawls in to do his business, litter crystals absorb liquid waste and dehydrate solid waste to destroy odors. Then, an automatic rake sweeps through to push the mess out of sight, out of mind, and out of your nose! It keeps itself clean, without needing you to scoop, clean or refill it for weeks. When it comes time to reload, simply place the lid on the disposable tray and throw it away. The crystal litter is 99% track-free, but, if that's not enough, the top-entry hood is built with a large, grated surface for even more protection against tracking. Plus, an included health counter makes sure you know how often your kitty uses the box—so you can keep a watchful eye on his behavior! ScoopFree makes your life easier, your home cleaner and your cat happier. What could be better?

Key Benefits
  • Self-cleaning box keeps itself tidy for weeks—with no scooping, cleaning or refilling—so you can focus on your favorite parts of being a cat parent.
  • Crystal cat litter first absorbs liquids and dehydrates solid waste, then the automatic rake shoves it all into a covered trap—which means you never have to touch or see the smelly stuff.
  • Litter crystals rarely stick to cats' paws, but this top-entry hood has a grated surface that adds extra protection from tracking.
  • Built-in health counter tells you how many times your cat has used the box, so you can easily track your cat's habits and share results with your veterinarian.
  • Cleaning up is simpler than ever—just stick the lid on the disposable tray and toss it in the trash!

Precautions

Pregnant women, babies, small children and immune-deficient individuals should avoid contact with cat litter waste. If your kitten is under 6 months of age, leave the unit UNPLUGGED and scoop waste until kitten is 6 months old.

Here are some tips to help get the most life from the Disposable Crystal Litter Tray.

  • ScoopFree Disposable Litter Trays work best if placed AWAY from areas of high humidity such as bathrooms, showers, and basements. Moisture in the air can shorten the life of the crystal litter and disposable tray. Place in a room with moving air to pull away moisture, such as a room with a fan.
  • Cats with diets high in crude fiber and ash content will produce more solid waste. This may prematurely fill the waste trap. Consider changing the cat’s diet to a food with no byproducts or fillers.
  • Increased elimination habits of older cats and cats with diabetes, kidney and thyroid problems may result in a shorter tray life.
  • Stirring litter crystals once a week may help the tray life for cats that are ill or have a high urine output. Stirring will also distribute saturated crystals, which will also help with cats consistently urinate in the same spot or do not dig. Be sure to mix in the crystal litter from behind the rake and along the sides of the litter box. DO NOT mix in litter from under the waste trap.
  • Kittens are not as developed so their solid waste can be runny. Kittens will go through litter trays faster than adult cats. It is recommended to use ScoopFree with cats that are older than 6 months.

CAUTION: If your kitten is under 6 months of age, leave the unit UNPLUGGED and scoop waste until kitten is 6 months old.

Care & Cleaning

The ScoopFree Self-Cleaning Litter Box seldom needs cleaned because of its revolutionary design. Surfaces that would normally become soiled are discarded with each Disposable Crystal Litter Tray. However, you may occasionally choose to clean the litter box.

WARNING Do not submerge or expose the electrical components to water or cleaning solutions. Always unplug the unit when not in use, before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning.

To Clean:

  1. Unplug power adapter from wall outlet and disconnect from the litter box.
  2. Lift and remove the litter box frame from the crystal litter tray.
  3. Remove waste trap cover by tilting it outwards until the side posts fall out of the slots on the front of the litter box frame.
  4. Wipe all surfaces on the litter box frame with a cloth or sponge using mild soap and water. Wipe rake with sponge or soft brush. DO NOT use bleach or chemicals to clean as they can act as a repellent to your cat.
  5. Clean the Detection Sensors on the interior sides of the litter box frame to make sure they are not blocked.
  6. Thoroughly dry all parts before reassembling the litter box.

To Reassemble:

  1. Install the waste trap cover by sliding the posts on the side of the cover into the slots on the front of the litter box frame.
  2. Install the litter tray (see “Litter Tray Installation” page 8).

Troubleshooting

Indicator light is flashing rapidly, and rake is at home position.

  • Check if waste trap is full. If so, replace litter tray.
  • Check for obstructions and remove if necessary.
  • Make sure magnets on waste cover are properly attached to litter tray. If not, lift waste cover and lower it back down; you should hear a “click” when correctly attached to the tray.
  • Make sure waste trap cover is properly installed.
  • Ensure litter box is level and seated properly on litter tray.
  • Ensure litter is evenly distributed. Never add extra litter.
  • Unplug the litter box and wait a few seconds. Plug the litter box in again. When the rake returns to the home position, the indicator light will glow solid green.

Indicator light is flashing rapidly (8 times per second), and rake is stopped several inches away from the home position.

  • Check for any obstructions behind the rake. If so, unplug the litter box and remove obstruction. Wait a few seconds.
  • Plug the litter box in again. The rake should return to the home position and the indicator light will turn on solid green.

Indicator light is flashing medium (4 times per second), and system will not rake after the countdown time elapses.

  • Check to see if the detection sensors are obstructed.
  • Unplug box and clear any litter or waste that may have collected on the sensors. After cleaning, plug it back in.
  • When the rake returns to the home position, the indicator light should turn on solid green.

Magnets on waste trap cover do not attach to litter tray.

  • Waste trap cover may not be properly installed. See “Care and Cleaning” page 13 to remove and reinstall waste trap Cover.
  • Then press down on waste trap cover or lift waste trap on litter tray until you hear a click, indicating magnets have attached to the tray.

Litter box frame is not level on litter tray.

  • The litter box should rest on the litter tray when installed, not on the floor. Make sure the litter box is completely level on the litter tray (see “Litter Tray Installation ” page 8).
FAQ

Can ScoopFree Self-Cleaning Litter Box be used with multiple cats?

ScoopFree was designed for use with one or two cats. If you have more than two cats, it is recommended to have at least one litter box for every two cats.

How will I know when to change the litter tray?

You should change the litter tray when either of the following occurs: * The crystal litter is saturated. As the crystals absorb urine, the litter will start to turn yellow. Once the majority of the litter turns yellow, the crystals are nearing their saturation point. When the crystals can no longer absorb any more moisture, you may start to notice an odor from the urine. * The waste trap is full. When the waste trap is full, the waste trap cover will not close completely. You may see small pieces of solid waste sticking out from underneath the lid. You may also start to notice an odor from the solid waste.

Like that I don't have to scoop everyday

    By on

So I bought this because I hate having to clean the litterbox everyday (like literally the only bad part of owning an indoor cat) it works great to scoop the poop under its storage flap but it does nothing for the poop smell... i don't have any issues with urine smell and its 2 cats using it but the poop doesn't stop stinking until at least an hr after its pushed under the storage flap. I'm considering adding baking soda to the litter mixture but worried about messing up the system so haven't. I think next time I'll fork over the extra 200 and get the litter genie that hooks to your toilet.

Disappointing for the cost of litter

    By on

I looked forward to this litter box after reading a lot of good reviews. Unfortunately, my experience with it has been awful. I never leave reviews, but this one has been really frustrating because of the positive reviews I read before I purchased. I have two cats, so I knew that I would have to change the litter more frequently than recommended. That being said, I can barely even make it ten days before it smells so bad I can't go in the room where this box is because the litter is completely saturated with urine. In an attempt to save money I purchased the reusable plastic tray (the disposable cardboard trays literally double your cost). Big mistake. Luckily I had someone to help me dump the tray full of feces and urine into a trash bag, otherwise, it would have ended up all over my floor. It was also incredibly hard to clean. I'll have to go back to paying twice the amount for the disposable cardboard boxes. I had high hopes based on the positive reviews, but right now I'm just wishing I had stuck with my traditional scoop litter box. This has just been a huge waste of money over the last 4 months. The reason it gets two stars instead of one is that it would work great if I could afford to replace the litter every week (or more) - but at $15+ a bag, I'm not willing to do that. Wish I could return and get my money back. The only thing I like this for is if I have to go out of town for a couple of days and have someone checking in on the cats so I don't have to ask them to scoop the box. Otherwise, no benefits over the traditional scoop box in my mind. If they could improve the litter, I'd be a much happier customer. … more

    Just what we needed!

    By on

We had the hardest time as a family changing/scooping the litter box. Everyone is always “busy” or not their turn. This litter box has eased stressed not just for the family but for the cats too. It’s completely simple. It is completely ZERO hassle. I wish I would have purchased one sooner. I plan to buy another and gift it to my mother in law. I love it!

Cat will not use litter box

My cat refuses to use this litter box. She has previously used a litter maid auto litter box with no issue but she refuses to use this box.

    Two paws up

    By on

I went back and forth before this purchase but ultimately went for it and I’m thrilled by the product. The litter really does dehydrated waste, it is hands-free for me as scooping is timed and automatically executed. We are 38 uses in and have had no real issues. Our 8 month old cat adjusted easily and loves the top opening to climb in. The rake did get paused twice mid-scoop, so not sure what that was about. I just hit the manual button and it reset and was fine after that. Requires minimal effort. I check it when I’m in the laundry room to make sure it’s functioning. So far so good!

    Was better before

    By on

I absolutely loved this box when I purchased it about a year ago. Although there was some oder, it worked really well with little tracking. Such a nice change from all of the clay litters I had tried. Recently, however, they must have changed the crystals. They no longer seem to allow the evaporation of the urine, so after just a few days, the urine oder is really bad. We tried stirring the litter but it all turned into a gooey gel at the bottom of the box. I am still using this because I haven't found a better solution but I do wish they had not changed the crystals, especially at the price.

    Waste of money

    By on

My cat makes a bigger mess with this litter box. When walking into the house you can smell the odor from the box which with the old litter box I couldn't. The self cleaning system is set at the recommended 20 minutes but the poop sticks to it bad and is difficult to clean. I was excited about getting this product but it has been a bigger headache and a waste of money.

    Best Litter Box I've Used

    By on

I ended up with a medical issue that made it so I couldn't scoop litter as often. So we purchased 2 of these boxes for 3 cats. They are AMAZING! The smell isn't there, the cats love them, there's no litter mess on the floor. Honestly should have gotten these sooner.

    Worked ok for a while

    By on

I have had this box for just around 1 year. It functioned ok from the start. Having 2 cats I got the reusable tray to use since it was more financially feasible, as the litter only lasted weeks. There has always been an odor with the box, which is slightly disappointing. It isn't heavily overwhelming, but it is noticeable in the room I have the box in. Today I came in to change the litter, and the rake has broken. It is stuck in the middle of the box, and is not going anywhere. Thankfully I still have a regular box downstairs for the boys to use, and will be bringing it up here. Very much a disappointment. It absolutely functioned in the beginning, but definitely be wary, it has a limited life span. I loved the convenience of not having to scoop, but I think I will save money and just go back to my regular litter boxes, until I can splurge on a more expensive system. … more
