Frisco Multi-Function Covered Cat Litter Box, 29-in, With Tray

This box seemed huge when it arrived, but it solved a couple of problems for us and our two big-and-tall kitties: it helps prevent scattered litter from their vigorous digging pre- and post- “deposits” and it has prevented accidental misses due to their taller bodies with their taller squats. They sometimes overshot the sides of their short-sided box despite the fact that they were fully inside it at the time. This big box accommodates their overall size and it prevents accidental misses. It is easy to clean with smooth bottom and sides. We do not use an insert or the lid that came with the box (their heads could touch the lid and we feared the confinement would cause them resist using the new box). They adapted quickly, in part because we set the old box in front of the new one for a couple of days so the new would become familiar and they could choose which to use.

After a move my 2 girls started peeing high. I’ve bought several “high-sided” litter boxes and spent too much money until I found this one. This one is higher than any other and now the pee stays in the box! For reference, my girls are Norwegian forest/american shorthair and 9 and 12 pounds.

My male cat was peeing right up at the back of his old litterbox causing pee to seep out between the box bottom and the lid and drip to the floor. There is a top entry box available, but my cat won't use it. I tried this box because the back is very high, and it would take an acrobat to get his rear up high enough to spray through the hand holds (altho that might not be true with the smaller Frisco boxes) This jumbo box is huge! Be sure to measure your space. I read some reviews about flimsy hinges, but have been careful and not had any trouble. Less litter is being tracked out because the cats seem to move to the back of the box and it is spacious!
