the weight restriction does not change based on on changing the size of the carrier. Is the weight limit really 16 lbs. regardless of if buying the medium or XL?

The Medium carrier is suitable for pets up to 16 pounds and the X-Large is suitable for pets up to 35 pounds.
Will this squish down (slightly collapsible)to fit under most airline seats? What is the weight of the carrier alone?

The medium size carrier is Guaranteed On Board American, United and Air Canada. The X-Large size is too large for in-cabin. The carrier does push down by un-velcroing and collapsing the frame on one end of the carrier to allow that end to be pushed down. The Medium carrier is approximately 3.66 pounds and the X-Large carrier is approximately 6.68 pounds.

This carrier features seat belt-style straps to easily install with your vehicle's existing latch and car seat tether systems, and includes a shoulder strap. Backpack straps are not provided with this product.

Really like alot

I really like this carrier alot. I have used it once, so far. I like how it hooks on to the seat mounts. I had a little trouble unhooking it from the seat. The problem was me. I recently had thumb surgery, so that was abit of the challenge. That was a challenge on my part, because I don't have alot of strength in my hand and also had a brace on my hand and wrist. The product is great. Attaches to the seat very easily and securely. CARRIER IS 5 STARS, HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

My dog is a chewer!

My puppy was able to tear a pretty significant hole in this carrier unfortunately. I had it for about a month before this happened

Great portable carrier

Very flexible, but also very sturdy carrier. We have a large cat in length and weight (24 pounds). Plenty of room and ample window screens. When not traveling our cat has made the carrier his cat cave. Great purchase!

Weird and not easy to use.

We are so disappointed in this carrier.1- the straps do not work correctly so that you can attach it to the handle of your suitcase. 2- the car seat attachments flap and bang every time you carry it. I wanted it for plane travel and do not recall anything about these annoying metal clasps clanking about when I read the description. 3- there are two metal brackets, one on each end on the inside that are very hard to put up and they hold the carrier ends up so that the dog has room but when you put it under the plane seat, they can collapse onto the dog! Overall, while it seems well made, it is highly inconvenient and annoying to use. I do not recommend.

Well made!

I took a star off as this was intended for my 15 pound Shih Tzu. No way! It does fit my 7 pound cat wonderfully and she is extremely attached to it. It has become her little den in my office. The seatbelt hooks are super convenient and safe and this carrier will be an emergency transport for kitty when needed. Caring it around is a little awkward as the seatbelt hooks dangle when not hooked to the car. Overall, very nice and well-made.

This is a Quality Carrier

I also owned a smaller Sherpa carrier that is still working fine but a little small and doesn't secure well in the truck. This is a high quality carrier and as long as your vehicle has a tether type system for the clips to attach to it will be safe as can be.

A handle and a strap.

Opens at both ends for ease of putting your pet inside. Opens on the side for the comfort of your pet. There are clip hooks on the bottom that hook onto an airline seat for the safety of your pet. Worth the money.

Well Designed Dog Carrier

I use this carrier in the car. It was simple to securely install and is easy to use. Using hook and loop tape, I easily attached a folding windshield guard to control the sun entering the carrier from either end and to secure the pad that sits on the bottom.

Saved my 6 kittens lives

If it weren't for this carrier and I was using a traditional hard one my foster kittens would be dead. I got into a really bad head on collision accident, both cars were totaled and my sternum was cracked. But because I had them in this carrier thank goodness all of them were okay. and of course immediately following the accident I took them to the vet instead of going to the ER so I knew they were okay. If you want total assurance that your pet is going to be safe get this carrier, I can't recommend it enough. Also get the recommended cushion pad for the bottom I imagine that helped the impact.
