Weruva Wx Phos Focused

The Weruva Wx formula has low levels of phosphorous without sacrificing protein content or quality. It offers highly bioavailable proteins for optimal digestion and good amino acid absorption to help maintain muscle mass.

Why Seek Lower Phosphorous Formulas?

As kidney health declines, the kidneys filter blood less efficiently, and phosphorous may enter the blood stream, creating new health issues. A diet with lower phosphorous, although it will not cure kidney issues, can help minimize these other ailments.

What is the protein, phosphorus, and sodium contents on a dry matter basis?

This variety contains approximately 11.35% Protein content on an as fed basis (62.40% on a dry matter basis), 0.058% Phosphorus content on an as fed basis (0.32% on a dry matter basis) and 0.12% Sodium content on an as fed basis (0.65% on a dry matter basis).

Can you tell me what fish are used for the 'fish broth' and the 'fish oil?' Thank you!

What is the iodine levels of this food? Is it considered lower iodine?

While iodine is not something Weruva tests for regularly, they do target AAFCO minimums for iodine. According to AAFCO, the minimum is 0.6 mg/kg on a dry matter basis for cats.

Bought this for my older cat who has elevated kidney numbers but doesn't require Rx food yet (although I am trying that too). The shreds are too stringy and she just licks off the liquid and leaves the meat so I thought I would try the pate. She turns up her nose at it alone but will sometimes eat a little mixed with her usual food. It won't go to waste as I have 13 cats...somebody will eat it but I won't buy it again.

Our vet just recommended switching from urinary care cat food to kidney care, as our old boy's kidneys are starting to struggle. I first tried a multi-flavor pack and ruled out all the ones with chicken, which he would not eat at all. But after ordering more of this flavor we found that he really just doesn't like any of it. We've just gone to full prescription kidney diet and he is devouring both Hills salmon flavored pate and Royal Canin. We are afraid we might have half-starved him trying to give him this Weruva, even with just a little mixed into his old food. It has a weird color and consistency.

I bought these for my older cat because I read older cats should have less phosphorus in case they develop kidney issues. She loves food her food with gravy. I’ve tried adding pet food broth but it only works some of the times. She loves these. She drinks all the gravy and then picks at the food. She doesn’t eat all the food because it’s shredded pieces but she eats most of it.

Some of our senior cats started to show sign of kidney disease from blood work report. We bought these as supplement to try to reduce the amount of phosphorus in their diet while maintaining a relatively high protein diet for their metabolism. They seem to like this food okay when mixed with some other regular foods. According to the label, this is not a complete and balanced diet (due to low phosphorus content) So don't feed this to your cat who doesn't have any kidney disease. And mix with regular cat food to provide a rather completed and balanced diet.
