Instructions

  • Place brick in pail/bucket or sink.
  • Add four quarts of water.
  • Allow brick to expand for 20 to 30 minutes.
  • Wring out excess moisture.

For small animals, snakes, and tarantulas, use dry by laying out moist substrate in the sun to dry before moving to your animal's enclosure.

Maintenance: Mist your Eco Earth daily to achieve the desired humidity level in your enclosure. Check your humidity gauge to confirm that you have the correct humidity levels for the species you are keeping. It helps to partially cover the top of your terrarium glass to increase humidity levels.

Cleaning: Spot clean as needed. If a foul odor persists, then remove all Eco Earth and replace. Changing all of your Eco Earth depends on the smell and number/size of animals in your enclosure but a 100% change is recommended at least every six months.

  • Great buy for our hermit crabs

    By on

These bricks are huge!! A great value!! I moisten & mix this with the sand in the hermit crab tank. I have been buying compressed coconut fiber disks from out local pet store. This is many times over more than the small disks I have been using. 3 large bricks for the price I paid for 2 small disks from the pet store!!!! I will store the unused bricks in zip lock bags.

  • Awesome for snakes and lizards

Two bricks of this substrate cover my snake's 50 gallon terrarium, and half a brick is more than enough for my 10 gallon. It has a nice, earthy smell, retains moisture, and is super soft. I highly recommend this substrate for all tropical reptiles.

  • Eco Earth works for me

    By on

Bought this for my hermit crabs and crested Gecko. Much cheaper than buying in pet store and since I use all 3 blocks for the hermit crabs, it does save me money. Been using this for years and hermit crabs seem to like it. Crested Gecko doesn't usually go on cage bottom but I use it to help keep in the moisture. Easy to add water and expand to full size and I periodically add water to keep it moist.

  • Product is a 5 star but 1 flaw..

    By on

Eco Earth is great. One brick makes a bucket full of coconut fiber. One flaw is the packaging. Their is not way to secure the other bricks when not used, but other than that this is great substrate to keep humidity

  • Not for small tanks

    By on

Product was not described as 3 large bricks. This is not ideal for a 10 gallon gecko tank. And forget breaking them apart. You would need a jack hammer to do so and it makes a colossal mess. Unless you have a large tank, i would not recommend this.

  • pretty good for its price

    By on

I've used eco earth for a long time and it's great! This pack is huge and perfect for my 4 enclosures. The only thing it's it takes a while to dry out so if you were to use it for say a leopard gecko make sure you dry it out or but the preform bag moist eco earth can be very bad for them. Overall it's a great value for its price, would recommend

  • Easy, Odor-Free, and Pretty!

    By on

This is BY FAR the easiest substrate for reptiles! I've recently put all three of my bearded dragons and my leopard gecko on this, and almost a week later all of the poop smell from my room was gone! The preparation (though messy if not careful) is really easy, and looks great on the floors of natural terrariums. The waste is easy to clean, and doesnt leave stains like on reptile carpet. It's also 100% easier to clean the cages if your dragon tends to poop on the substrate. Only problem is they'll probably kick dirt into their water bowl. Overall, this is a great product for your reptile. • Used for Frogs and Hermit Crabs

    By on

I like this substrate because it holds humidity but has lower risk of molding than other beddings. It's so convienent, just put the block into your cage and fill it with some warm water. Also works for some plants. Just a little bit messy

  • Makes a lot of substrate

These things expand like crazy. They can be a bit messy so a 5gal bucket outside is best to mix it imo. Works great for our lay boxes.
