Instructions
  • Place brick in pail/bucket or sink.
  • Add four quarts of water.
  • Allow brick to expand for 20 to 30 minutes.
  • Wring out excess moisture.

For small animals, snakes, and tarantulas, use dry by laying out moist substrate in the sun to dry before moving to your animal's enclosure.

Maintenance: Mist your Eco Earth daily to achieve the desired humidity level in your enclosure. Check your humidity gauge to confirm that you have the correct humidity levels for the species you are keeping. It helps to partially cover the top of your terrarium glass to increase humidity levels.

Cleaning: Spot clean as needed. If a foul odor persists, then remove all Eco Earth and replace. Changing all of your Eco Earth depends on the smell and number/size of animals in your enclosure but a 100% change is recommended at least every six months.

  • NOT JUST FOR REPTILES

    By on

I use this product in gardening. I mix my own soils and coco coir is an excellent companion with compost, sand and other natural additives. Recipes depend on what you're planting or amending. The cost of a bag of coco coir is quite steep. The bricks are extremely cost effective and Chewy was by far the most economical. This is my second order this spring. Couldn't be happier.

  • So much for such a low price!

I love this substrate for my crestie's terrarium! It looks very natural and sticks together well enough that I'm not scared my gecko will swallow it. I make and keep it in a huge plastic tub. Love this product!

i got a lot more than needed but it's always good to have extra haha i should read more carefully bc this a TON for such a low price ?? but it works great for a humid hide and while i wouldn't use it as a substrate for my leopard gecko he seems to enjoy it in his designated hide lmao

  • This is great

It is 3 bricks of compressed soil and you put it in water and then it expands and my turtle likes it much better then cocunut fibers. I only needed one brick so this will last along time

  • A Must Have

    By on

I currently have about 20 of these bricks in storage. I use about two per month for my pets. It's really easy to soak the bricks and break them up, and there's never any rocks or twigs mixed in. I've tried other brands and Zoo Med's version is still my favorite.

  • More than just a bed for reptiles!

EcoEarth coconut fiber is great when mixed with potting soils to give aeration to the mix. I mix 1 part perlite, 1 part EcoEarth, 2 parts soil for potted plants. And its all natural.

  • Easy, Odor-Free, and Pretty!

    By on

This is BY FAR the easiest substrate for reptiles! I've recently put all three of my bearded dragons and my leopard gecko on this, and almost a week later all of the poop smell from my room was gone! The preparation (though messy if not careful) is really easy, and looks great on the floors of natural terrariums. The waste is easy to clean, and doesnt leave stains like on reptile carpet. It's also 100% easier to clean the cages if your dragon tends to poop on the substrate. Only problem is they'll probably kick dirt into their water bowl. Overall, this is a great product for your reptile. • Great Product

    By on

I cannot vouch for how much they say it expands to but it does absorb like four times its amount of water. Very fine, easy to mix, and does not smell bad unless you don't like the smell of dirt!

  • Perfect for Sulcata Tortoise

Since I don't have access to natural dirt, I use this stuff. It's really great and holds moisture nicely without creating too much dust.

  • Eco Earth works for me

    By on

Bought this for my hermit crabs and crested Gecko. Much cheaper than buying in pet store and since I use all 3 blocks for the hermit crabs, it does save me money. Been using this for years and hermit crabs seem to like it. Crested Gecko doesn't usually go on cage bottom but I use it to help keep in the moisture. Easy to add water and expand to full size and I periodically add water to keep it moist.
