Questions & Answers

5 Customer Questions

Is this dishwasher safe for cleaning?

Answer by ChewyOct 03, 2024
We'd suggest to hand wash the puzzle with a mild soap and warm water. Wipe to dry.

Where is this manufactured?

Answer by ChewyNov 24, 2024
All of Outward Hound products are designed in Colorado USA. Most are manufactured in China by partners that they know and trust and a selection of their chew products & treats are made here in the USA.

Is this treat puzzle made with food grade plastics?

Answer by ChewyFeb 13, 2025
This puzzle is made with food grade plastic.

Can a small dog use this puzzle?

Answer by ChewyFeb 20, 2025
This toy is designed specifically for cats, so the size and structure are optimized for feline use. However, it is durable and sturdy enough to handle gentle play from small-breed puppies or dogs. If the dog tends to chew or be more aggressive with toys, a dog-specific puzzle feeder might be a better option, as those are often made with materials that are more suitable for canine play styles.

Size is perfect for my cat. She is an extremely gentle and careful cat. Other puzzles require more aggressiveness so she looses motivation to access the treats in difficult areas. The hinges and sliding mechanism on this puzzle are easy for her to manipulate. She can get into the spots and scoop out her treats with ease. She gets so excited when I bring this out!

My old cat loves this and really enjoys having to work for her treats. Wasn’t sure if she would actually figure out what to do with it, but she was able to get to her treats and the more we use it the faster she has gotten at solving this little treat puzzle.

Effective but easily learned

3 senior cats. One has absolutely no interest in this regardless. One is interested in it with high value treats only, but he’s also figured out how to flip it over and get them without trying. The third? He appears to like the challenge. Instead of going to the door where his treats live, he now stands with a paw on this puzzle and demands that I put them in it. After about 4 days using it, he has figured it out completely, but it still keeps him from eating them too quickly and puking.

I bought the puzzle for all of my boys. Eddie - about 7 - is not interested. Toby - about 5 - figured it out with help, but is not a fan. Eli - about 9 months - got it immediately and can now solve for ALL the treats in about 5 minutes, which includes downtime because you have to fake out your prey, right?
