Important Information

Fleas rise to the top of your pet's coat as they die, so consider it a triumph if you start seeing more fleas at first, after treating your pet. If you’re still seeing fleas after application, it may be because your pet has picked up new fleas from the environment, which may include other pets, surfaces and outdoor areas. It may take up to 30 days to break the entire flea life cycle. Additionally, you should also treat sources of new fleas (i.e., carpet, yard, etc.) to ensure complete flea control.

It's been 3 weeks and my cat still has a bunch of fleas on his ears and nose. Should I apply another treatment and hope it will eventually work or assume it's not going to work for him and try something else?
Answer by ChewyAug 02, 2018
If you see fleas on your cat within a month after your pet receives flea treatment with Cheristin for cats, it is most likely these are new fleas that have very recently emerged from pupae and jumped onto the cat. These new fleas will be killed quickly before they can produce eggs that contaminate the environment.Consistent monthly application of Cheristin for cats should be maintained to provide continued protection for your cat against these fleas.

Excellent pricing for a good flea treatment

I tried a different allergy topical treatment for my cat and found it did not work for even a week. Fleas are rampant outside now in our area (San Diego). They are in sand, they are in soil, and they are in grasses. It is an uphill battle. Ranger's fleas began dying immediately. He did not make licking the treatment off his sole purpose for living - which is a first - so I found that alone remarkable. He has started scratching again and it is still well within the 30-day period in which Cheristin is supposed to work. But fleas must bite in order to die. I see no mass invasion. I bought some natural product wipes for this interim which I use on his face and head to keep the bugs from his ears, chins, etc. So far, any fleas I have seen where he has lain were dying or dead. I received my order in 48 hours even though I ordered it on a weekend. Very impressed with Chewy!

Caused hair loss on application site

My cat had an adverse reaction to Cheristin which caused a large patch of his fur on the application site to fall out, leaving a substantial bald patch. Chewy customer service was great and refunded my purchase immediately and encouraged me to report the adverse reaction to the manufacturer. I would recommend to pet owners that they use another flea control product if their cat has allergies or sensitive skin.

This flea treatment was a life saver. The day after I put this on my cats I had dead fleas everywhere. After two weeks I am not finding any fleas in my home or on my cats. Highly recommend Cheristin. Thank you for a great product that really works. Worth the price.

Cheristin Flea treatment

I was skeptical that this would work. I had tried everything on my cats. After 1 application, my cats are flea free. It really did work in 30 minutes. It has been 2 weeks since I put the product on the cats, and they remain flea free. Will recommend and will purchase again!

Best Flea Treatment I have ever Seen!

I have spent a monumental amount of money on different flea treatments over the counter and at the veterinarian's office and this product I applies one time to all my babies and it killed every flea and all the eggs and my cats are the happiest they have been in a long time. I won't use anything else again. I would recommend this to anyone who has Flea problems, we were over run with them and nothing else worked.

Vet said this is the only OTC that works; gross on fur

As the title says. It seems to work since we haven't had a flea issue (knock on wood). We switch between this and revolution since the latter is too expensive for us to afford monthly. This goes on really stinky and makes the cat fur gross, kind of like what I think would happen if you put hair gel on the cat's fur. It hurts my throat from being around it - i dont know if it's the stinky smell or harsh chemicals, so I'm sure it's more unpleasant for cats. I suspect it causes lethargy in one of my cats the next day after applying. But I'm glad to have a cheaper alternative and no serious health issues.

So I was ready to cuss chewy associates because none of them could do anything that I couldn't do via their website, my kittens were dying from flea bites and nothing was helping. They tried to do their best and were so kind through my anger and frustration. Ultimately I picked Cheristin because of the positive reviews on multiple websites AND the fact that half of the negative reviews were just about packaging. I ordered this on a Sunday, it came the next day, just under 24hrs!!! And the best part is that it IS WORKING. Not only are the fleas and flea eggs falling off my 3 cats but also the 2 kittens that are still alive and I wasn't able to use it on them. With discounts and everything we ended up paying half the price which is great because we didn't have the money to take them to the vet and got 2 months supply for all 3 cats. I couldn't be happier, it is the best OTC flea medicine I've found. And for those who have packaging issues. You just twist the cap, it breaks open the seal and there's a hole at the tip, so the cap is the applicator. The cap does not come off. I felt like an idiot when I actually paid attention but it's genius, lol.

Didn't work

I've been dealing with a flea problem for a while and I've tried a bunch of different remedies over the last few year. The reviews for this were good so I figured I would give it a shot. It seemed to give my cat some relief for a few days (no more than a week) then she was right back to scratching and biting. It also says not to give it more than once a month and some of my cats hair fell out at the application site. Maybe one day I'll find something that works more than a few days.

TERRIBLE applicator

The stuff works as well as anything else I’ve used, but I will not order this product again due to impossible applicator tube that doesn’t open (or the directions aren’t clear how to open). Every other product I’ve tried is fine… easy to open and apply without getting a drop on my hands. After hassling with this product’s applicator tube, my hands are covered with the treatment solution and I’m not sure the cat got enough on her. Back to Advantage for us!

Great product but TERRIBLE new packaging

We have used this product for years and loved it but the latest order I received had updated packaging that is basically impossible to open. Instead of the cap that you would push down on to pierce the tube now there is a cap that you are supposed to twist but it doesn’t come off. I twisted it for so long my finger is raw from the textured cap. I’m not buying this again until they un-do this stupid change.
