Important Information

Fleas rise to the top of your pet's coat as they die, so consider it a triumph if you start seeing more fleas at first, after treating your pet. If you’re still seeing fleas after application, it may be because your pet has picked up new fleas from the environment, which may include other pets, surfaces and outdoor areas. It may take up to 30 days to break the entire flea life cycle. Additionally, you should also treat sources of new fleas (i.e., carpet, yard, etc.) to ensure complete flea control.

It's been 3 weeks and my cat still has a bunch of fleas on his ears and nose. Should I apply another treatment and hope it will eventually work or assume it's not going to work for him and try something else?
Answer by ChewyAug 02, 2018
If you see fleas on your cat within a month after your pet receives flea treatment with Cheristin for cats, it is most likely these are new fleas that have very recently emerged from pupae and jumped onto the cat. These new fleas will be killed quickly before they can produce eggs that contaminate the environment.Consistent monthly application of Cheristin for cats should be maintained to provide continued protection for your cat against these fleas.

This is a new product to me. In addition to killing adult fleas does its properties include a flea growth inhibitor ?
Answer by ChewySep 25, 2017
This product is intended to kill fleas but not flea eggs, pupae and larvae. Female fleas can lay up to 50 eggs per day so there is potential for a large buildup of eggs, larvae and pupae, resulting in a constant supply of new adults emerging in the cat’s environment. We always encourage pet parents to treat all pets and surrounding areas in and outside of the home.

My cats are large, will one tube be enough
Answer by ChewyJul 21, 2017
Even if your cats weigh over 20 pounds using more than 1 single dose is not advised.

I have 2 kittens, 14 wks old & inseparable...they clean each other constantly...is it a problem if they lick the treatment on each other's neck??
Answer by ChewyJun 16, 2021
You should not allow your cat to ingest this product.

Cheristin flea drops

It doesn't kill all the adult fleas. I have 3 cats that were infested with fleas when we moved out to Georgia. My cats never had them b4 and are strictly indoor. Now I'm battling an infestation. My babies are suffering. It's a work in progress, I get that, but it's time consuming. I vacuumed daily, I bathed them every 4 days and comb them. 1 is 18 yrs old and the twins are 11 yrs old. I understand the flea cycle is about 3 mths long to break. I thought the drops would kill off all the adults, but since I've applied, 2 weeks ago, I'm still finding alive adults on them. Kinda daunting.

NOLA FLEAS ARE A SPECIES OF THEIR OWN!!

If anyone lives in New Orleans you are aware that fleas down here are like the plague with clearly a physiology all their own. They always seem to develop resistance to even the most major tried and true (as well as more expensive) medications out there. I had moved to NOLA from Chicago with my two kitties and quickly discovered the high ranking Revolution I had always used with great success in Chicago was doing squat!! I had tried at least 4 different brands/strengths via on line reviews until I got "educated" on the reality of NOLA fleas...haha. Seriously, no joke. Again, if you're in New Orleans...YOU KNOW. So, I tried Cheristan as recommended and provided by the vet and never used otherwise since then. For real. No balding at the application site either (Although all cats are different). Ps- CHEWY.COM is also AMAZING!! and no, I'm not gearing paid for this review...lol.

DISAPPOINTED IN NEW DESIGN OF PRODUCT TUBE

This product has been successful in flea treatment. I am a repeat customer. HOWEVER, they recently changed the design of the tube. Instructions and labeling are terrible as to how to open the tube! By the time I figured it out, I wore the flea treatment x3. Called Elanco to advise. They never offered to replace the wasted product. Chewy however did replace it.

Use a different product!

3 fully indoor cats here. One suddenly came down with tapeworms - an indicator of fleas - even though we haven't seen a single flea. We also do not have a rodent or insect problem in the house, so I was certain it was from fleas. On a recommendation of a Veterinarian, I purchased the 3 month supply of this product to treat all 3 cats on the assumption that if one has fleas they all do. Treated all 3 cats at the same time. In less than 3 weeks, adult fleas were spotted on the cat that had the tapeworms. Ended up taking him to the vet, who confirmed fleas and gave him an Rx Flea treatment (again!) in addition to an Rx for tapeworms to be safe. This does not work. Please do not waste your money!

Destroyed my NOLA flea problem!

Will gladly recommend this product to anyone who will listen. Have been fighting fleas down here for years. After only 3 months of using this product on my 3 cats we are finally completely fle free!!! You must be patient as this does not work on flea eggs. They will hatch and THEN it will kill them too. It takes a few weeks to a few months to eradicate them entirely, but it works. I just want to jump and shout. We are flea free!!!

Guaranteed

Cheristin really does kill fleas within an hour and allows you to see for yourself. Fleas will start floating to the top of your pets' hair, and depending on how many fleas and ticks there are, they may or may not fall to their doom onto your furniture and bedding. It's nothing to just whip out your good 'o vaccuum - I'm happy and relieved !

New cap...

The new style cap is much easier to use than the old style. However , the directions need to clarify that the cap does not come off. It would have saved me me from twisting until I had product all over my hands... Stupid? Maybe. Just used to the old package I guess..

When NOTHING else worked!

Will be using this from now on. After doing two months of frontline pro, flea traps, flea combs, flea sprays over and over and over - THIS is what finally got the fleas off my furbaby. It doesn't hurt that it's not extremely expensive either.

Best Flea Medication

I have tried 3 other brands before this one and Cheristin worked immediately to relieve my cats of fleas. I also have an indoor/outdoor cat and she hasn’t been scratching since I put the medication on her! Safe to say I won’t be switching to another brand.

Works great

I've tried so many flea medicines before and none have worked, but this one worked amazing. My cats had so many fleas but a majority of them were gone within the first day. This lasted the full month too. My cats also groom eachother a lot so I was very worried about them getting sick from licking each other, but they were actually good and none had a reaction.
