This cordless, ergonomic design gradually trims nails at a 45-degree angle in a controlled manner, reducing your changes of cutting the nail quick. When grooming with other tools like clippers and scissors, you have a greater chance of cutting the quick which can result in pain. This tool has a clear cap on the nail guard to capture nail dust and fur.

I have 2 German Shepherds. My previous grinder was loud and burned through batteries in just over 1 month. This grinder is much quieter. Have been using this for 3 weeks and still have not had to recharge. Best of all able to grind both dogs nails in about half the time it used to take. Only thing I don't like is the plastic sleeve around the grinding shaft is cheap and fear it will break easily.
I am using this on a now very non-reactive 16 y.o. 50 lb dog, so cannot report on how well I would have had to train her in her younger more active days. We had previously gone to the vet for her manicures, but with age, her travel anxiety is sky high and her sleep schedule has gotten too erratic for us to put her through the stress of it again. She only tolerated the lowest setting (think it was the higher vibration versus the noise since her hearing is almost gone) which is fine with me since the slower spin forced me to be more careful. I did not use the paw guide as I don't see how you can be careful enough not to hit the wick. I have been filing down her nails in increments as they had gotten too long and I wanted to allow the wick to recede. But, it does work well and I am more comfortable with this than with clippers. Word of caution. This is a power tool. I am very comfortable with power tools myself so know how to be careful. If you are not, just be sure to go slowly and maybe practice on something inanimate. I hate to think of dogs getting hurt by this if someone went too fast too hard or even slipped off the nail.
My dogs were terrified of this tool. They have had their nails dremeled in the past, but for some reason, hate the sound of this one. We have been unable to file one or two nails at a time, and it has been very traumatic for them. I am hoping to buy a less intimidating model for them, and hope that this experience hasn’t now ruined them for future filing. I would not recommend this particular model at all if your dogs are at all sensitive to sound. :(
This dremel was a dream for my 4 GSDs. After 8 uses (2x each dog) it quit on my. Chewy customer service stepped in...I wished this lasted longer. It really worked well foe the short time that it did work.
I have been using a regular Drummel sander on my dog’s nails for years per the suggestion of our breeder. When the battery died I bought this. Quieter and the shield over the sander protects my hands when the pup jerks her oaw.
This model is 100x better than previous models. The guide attachment makes it easier and safer when introducing to a puppy- because they wiggle around. In addition to the guide attachment other attachments are provided for when you and your puppy get comfortable. Previous models of the Pet Dremel didn't include any of the attachments. Greatly improved and I highly recommend this model!
I love the new nail trimmer from Dremel that I just got from Chewy. I've used several others but this is the most quiet and longest lasting on a charge!! My dog falls asleep sometimes while I'm doing her nails!
Purchased this grinder as this is what our groomer uses, instead of cutters. She told me “the grind” was better for nail health. Our dog partner isn’t keen on our form yet! Groomer completes the task in the time we get a nail or two done. Hopefully with a bit of practice, everyone will be happy with the home job. Paid what two trims cost, so definitely cost effective (if I gain some expertise)!
The setting that is suggested does not have enough RMP to do the job on a large breed dog. AND it got too hot to hold while doing only 1 dog.
This mail grinder is so easy to use. Anyone who is hesitant about trimming nails will appreciate the nearly “idiot-proof” plastic nail guard. The guard helps position each nail at proper angle. Be aware that the length of the guard is for adult dogs. When I attempted to gently grind puppy nails, even overly-long nails were too short to touch the grinding disc. It will work if you remove the guard but that’s not ideal if you are new to grinding. Replacement discs are available at local hardware stores. This is a quality grinder, charges fast, and I recommend it.
