"Glaucoma in dogs is a condition in which intraocular fluid cannot drain properly from the eye, causing a potentially damaging buildup of pressure. Glaucoma can cause serious pain and blindness if left untreated, so it is important to get your dog's eyes checked regularly and watch for subtle signs like redness, swelling, discharge and squinting."
"You do need a prescription for glaucoma medication for dogs. Only your vet can properly diagnose glaucoma and determine the best course of treatment for your pup. Your vet will test the internal pressure in your dog's eye and determine whether emergency treatment or surgery may be necessary. If not, your vet or canine ophthalmologist will likely prescribe a glaucoma medication for your dog, usually an ophthalmic eye drop solution. Pain medication may also be prescribed to relieve the discomfort associated with uncontrolled canine glaucoma."
