Fluker’s Ceramic Reptile Heat Emitter is the perfect solution for keeping your cold-blooded friend comfortable and healthy, reducing risk of digestive problems or infection caused by inadequate heat. This large, circular emitter directs heat to increase the basking area without light. It’s a great way to supplement the overhead heat in your reptile or amphibian’s terrarium.
Reptiles are ectotherms or "cold-blooded" animals who depend on he surrounding environmental temperature to regulate their own body temperature. If the environmental temperature in your terrarium is inadequate, your pet may be susceptible to digestive problems or infections.

Non-light emitting element provides heat without bright, blinding light
Screw heat emitter into Flukers Repta-Lamp. Clamp lamp at one end of the enclosure (basking area) and plug in. Do not place heat emitter over glass or plexiglass. Do not allow reptile to contact the heat emitter. Turn emitter on and allow to heat for 30. Measure the floor temperature of the enclosure under the heat emitter to determine that it is appropriate for your pet.
I chose the Fluker's Heat Emitter over a heat lamp for safety reasons. It is used in a pen for two domestic mini bunnies who were abandoned in my garden and rescued at death's door. The vet was prepared to euthanize one. I nursed them back over several weeks and now they are flourishing in a pen in my laundry room. They spend most time out of their little teepee house under the heat emitter on a cushion of baby quilts. It gives me such joy to see them healthy, warm and happy. While the Fluker emitter now being used has had a long life, I bought two emitters in last purchase to be sure I have one at hand at all times as winter approaches. With the cold nights approaching we needed extra heat for Ms. Tiggywinkle, our newest family member! We tried the warming pad but that wasn't doing it. So this was next and it is wonderful. The heat is perfect and keeps our hedgehog at a comfortable temperature. Thanks Chewy for carrying this!

The bulb only emits heat about 3 inches so it didn't keep my hedgehog warm at all but on top of the bulb not emitting heat it arrived broken. The top part of the bulb (metal piece that screws into the lamp) looked like it had just been glued together but not very good because as soon as I took it out of the box it was starting to fall apart, I went ahead and tried to screw it into the lamp because it seemed like a pretty easy fix so if it worked I would have kept it and tried to fix it myself. But, it didn't work and the return process seemed to take forever so I ended up just keeping the bulb and the clamp lamp and threw them away. Wasn't worth the money.
Burnt out and destroyed my dome light.

It was getting pretty cold at night around were I live, so I did a bit of research. I found ceramic dome lights and I read the instructions before I bought it. I made sure my dome light could handle the wattage.
As soon as I got it I tried it and in less than 30 minutes my dome light blew out with sparks. It got so hot in less then 30. Minutes. that I couldn't even touch the handle of the dome light to take it away from my terrarium. I'm hoping to get a refund.

I bought these bulbs to keep my furnace room warm, works excellent.
I monitor the room with a remote sensor, keeps the on-demand hot water pipes from freezing without having to run the furnace for warmth as I also use heat pumps. Don't need to keep the furnace running now saving on expensive fuel bills. Thanks
Wow! Amazing customer service

After writing about the emitter we ordered arriving broken (most likely in Holiday shipping), I received a new heat emitter (in perfect condition) after a pleasant email asking about my issues and concerns. I did not take the time to send the original back and chalked it up to rough delivery during the holidays and of no fault of Chewy's. I must say how impressed I am with the level of customer service and the wonderful (and humorous) emails I have received from them! Will definitely be doing business with them in the future!

Where I live we encounter below 0 degree temps. My 3 pekin ducks let me put them in a xl dog crate at night, they stay on a pond that never freezes all day long, not sure how that happens! But they do get the shivers so that's where I set it up inside the pen and it keeps it very warm for them, it's Awsome!
