Love this stand
I have 5 cats and have many scratchers of different types around the house but none were really tall. One of my cats is a big boy who likes to stretch when he scratches. I reviewed several products and decided to try this one. I have to say it was a big hit. All of the cats use it constantly. I placed it right near the basement door and it's the first thing they go for when I open the door. Besides scratching, they like to jump up and sit on the top. Best of all, my big boy can stretch all the way to the top to scratch. It has a heavy base that is hard to knock over but not impossible. It can tip if a heavy cat decides to climb up the side instead of jumping. That has happened only once. So just be aware. Even so, my cats use it so much that I am going to purchase another one for the basement area.
This cat scratching post is much easier on the eyes than most and sturdy as can be. My kitten, after temporarily adopting our new fabric accent chairs as her personal scratching furniture, just as quickly transitioned back to scratching where she's supposed to once I assembled this. Now she won't even use her earlier scratching surfaces. She can fully stretch out and lean into this post or perch atop it and look out the window when she wants to show off her acrobatic balancing skills. It is not too obvious and fits in with the rest of our cream decor pretty well for being cat furniture, to my partner's aesthetic relief.
Kittens love it
I initially got this in the hopes that I could divert my older cat from scratching furniture. She couldn't have cared less about it and other than occasionally sitting on top of the platform she mostly ignored it. I recently adopted 2 kittens and they absolutely love this. It took them a couple days to figure out how to climb up but now they both have it down super well and its always a part of their more violent play times. The platform is just big enough for 2 wiggly 2 pound kittens to wrestle on top of and the construction is sturdy enough that I don't have to worry about them knocking the structure over no matter what they do. I highly, highly recommend this product.
Perfect for my cats
It was taller than I was thinking it would be, and heavy enough to not topple, which is great. We have 9 cats, and of those who reside in the same area where it's located, they're all using it well already (we've always had scratching posts for them, so they're used to it). Every post we've owned has broken down over time, as that is normal wear and tear from constant use, whether structural, sisal rope, carpeting, etc. Cats are tough on their furniture and that should be expected. I only bought one so I could see how tall and heavy it actually was, and I'll be ordering another for the other cats. Favorite scratching post of all so far!
Best Scratching Post
My cats love this thing! I previously had a small scratching post but as my kitten got bigger she stopped using it and started scratching down the walls and every time it was like nails on a chalk board. I didn’t even get finish putting it together before she came out of the room and started using it. It’s the perfect size for them to be able to stretch on it. Definitely recommend this.
Still good after 1 year
I bought this scratching post a little over a year ago and was hesitant about not buying the "original" version made by another brand. After a year of my cat using this multiple times a day, every day, I realize I shouldn't have worried! This post is sturdy enough for my 12 lb cat. She's jumped onto the top many times and it has stayed put - no tipping. I'm sure I can get a few more years out of it.
Super Size Cat Scratcher
My cats love this scratching post! It is big enough for a Serval...though I don't have one. My cats love to jump and run into the post, and this used to be a problem with the old scratching post. The old post would fall over occasionally, but this almost 3-foot tall post is no match for them! My cats also love the pedestal at the top. Two of them take turns perching on the pedestal. Great purchase!
cat scratching post not sturdy
Chewy did a great job of delivering this quickly but I followed all directions correctly and this cat scratcher is not sturdy and won’t stand up straight. I even took it apart and put it together again and it has the same result. My cat hasn’t used it yet but if he tries to climb on it I am worried it will just fall over with how unsturdy it is
Lasted 4 Years with large cats
I purchased this scratching post 4 years ago to help combat my Siamese from destroying everything since that is what he loves to do. It is the perfect height for large cats to get a full stretch. And as you can see in the picture, even my 18lb Siamese can sit up on the top of it. It now needs to be replaced entirely since it wobbles horribly due to the post getting lose from Haku (kitty in picture) jumping up in it all the time. I am pleased with how long this lasted with big boy being such an avid scratcher and he shared this post with my two other kitties (Nora the Russian Blue rescue and Meric the kitten that was abandoned).
Good and tall
This seems to be a quality item. I was afraid it would not be tall enough for a full grown cat, but it is! Bella hasn't used it to scratch on yet. It takes her a while to get used to stuff. She is playing around it so I have high hopes she will eventually use it. Her old one (not this brand) is worn out . . .
