Good design and easy to build, but my cat doesn’t want to try it

I bought this for my cat to go with this new chair that I just bought because I didn’t want her to scratch on it like she has with the side of my bed and my mom’s

I bought this for my cat to go with this new chair that I just bought because I didn’t want her to scratch on it like she has with the side of my bed and my mom’s sofa. She has had cardboard scratching pads in the past, but I thought something upright and L-shaped would be great for her to scratch and lounge on. It was super easy to assemble with the tools provided (no tape, glue, or personal tools needed at all) and it saves a lot of room unlike flat or pole-shaped scratcher, but the only thing my cat wants to do with this scratcher is lick the cat nip that I used to pique her interest in it off and sit next to it instead of on it. She just wants to try and scratch on my new chair (which is made of real shearling wool, btw) instead! It’s so hard to find products and toys that will stimulate and enrich my cat, and she is extremely difficult to impress.

For the price, this is genius. For the same price you're lucky to get a flat slab or a tiny couch. This is soooo great. My cats were murdering the corner and side of my couch and I'd applied the sticky fabric, but it wasn't enough. I saw this and was like: Why not? Assembly is a breeze with fat plastic screws and a plastic screwdriver that spins super easily into cardboard. AND the two vertical panels can be turned around to the other side when they're tore up. I put it right next to my couch. It took them a minute to decide to scratch vertically on the cardboard, but they've taken to it and love the base also. They STILL scratch my couch. But only 1/3 of the time. Will buy again.

Best buy for my cats in years

I got the large, and it was more than big enough. I have to look to see if they have any replacement pieces for the upper part, but my 3 cats love it! I was looking

I got the large, and it was more than big enough. I have to look to see if they have any replacement pieces for the upper part, but my 3 cats love it! I was looking for something to satisfy their need to really stretch out and scratch up high, as so many cat scratchers are not a long enough continuous portion, so they have to scratch in short little strokes. This one is tall enough for even my fairly big cat to reach all the way up and he can't reach the top, and the base is big enough for them to lay on and play King of the Hill. Absolutely recommend and worth the price, very sturdy and the supports on the sides mean I'm not worried about them bending it.

I have 6 cats and most love being able to stretch high and scratch. I agree with the reviewer stating that it works well for destructive cats, I have a hyper orange and the scratcher gives him space to let out his craziness. The scratcher lasted quite a while, but I may have waited too long to flip the pieces on the top. When I tried to re-attach the top 2 pieces the scratcher fell over. I see that the replacement pieces are unavailable from the company b/c of a design change. Thankfully I bought 2 of these and will put the back-up scratcher together.

My cat has been a problem scratcher and has ruined a few pieces of furniture, pretty much ignoring other scratchers I’d bought for him (vertical sisal and all kinds of cardboard ones). The game changer with this scratcher is that cats can sit upright and scratch (which mine likes) and, if you place the scratcher against a wall or heavy piece of furniture, it’s so well-made that it doesn’t wobble. I’d recommend the large one even for an average-size cat because mine loves to stretch and rub his paws over the rounded top edge. I’m so happy that I bought a second one for my upstairs!

This item is poorly designed. The area the two side pieces connect is a huge problem, partially caused by a lack of connection at that specific point. It took my small cat (4lbs.?) exactly two minutes to grab the tip of it and fold it in half at the hinge point created by the poor design. I had to lay it flat, with the base serving as the top and the long side resting on the floor, so now it's a scratching matt on the floor instead of something that protects my couch.

I’ve stopped swearing at my cats.

Despite having a cat tower and cardboard scratch pads in the room, my couch was under attack. Double sided tape helped, but not enough. I put this scratch pad up against my couch, and it is used all the time. I got the tallest model, and the cats really like getting a full stretch when using it. Replacement pads are a little pricey and hard to find, so I purchased (3 for the price of 2) new ones when Chewy had them for sale.

This is my second purchase of two of these. When I bought the first ones, I thought the ad said that there were replaceable panels for it. Couldn't find the replacements on the website, so I just bought two brand new ones.

Perfect for protecting the couch!

The back of our couch has enough space that our kitties like to sneak back to scratch. We put plastic sticky panels across the whole thing but that didn’t stop them from one particular section - so I plunked one of these down (large size) and they actually took to it really well! When I hear scratching behind me now, I’m no longer worried about our couch being ruined because they now have a place to focus their scratching. The large version reaches just above the back of the couch but is hidden by the large cushions so I actually forget it’s back there most of the time.
