While this is very cute and large enough for my cats pleasure, I was disappointed with its construction. The outer cardboard shell is fine but the cardboard scratching parts that sit inside are too small. I had to tape them to the outer shell in order for the items to stay together.
Big Al is a very large and aggressive boy! He loves a cat house, but because of his enthusiasm he wrecks them quickly. This one has been perfect. It is a great size for a large cat and very sturdy.
We have three cats and all of them love going inside and hiding from us and each other. Easy assembly, although I did secure each tab with super strong tape to make it last longer, after all, it is only made from cardboard. The only small issue I have is if you go to move it, you have to move both pieces since the camper and scratching pad are not attached.
The idea of this item was very appealing as our cats LOVE anything made out of cardboard. However, the way this fastens together is not very sturdy. The bottom is supposed to stick on the sides tot he cardboard and it does not adhere at all. The cats love to go in and out but find that the front and back tend to pop off at certain fasteners and I am constantly having to re attach the base to the top. I would not say it is worth the purchase unless you have really small docile cats.
I realize this is cardboard but some of these do hold up better than others. This one did not hold up. My cat jumped on it and the top of it caved in. The only part that has self adhesive tape is the cardboard scratch pad. It’s on the front and back and attached to the bottom of the camper. The sides and top are only attached with those tabs into the slots. I taped the slots and the top hoping to make it more secure but my cat won’t go near it now. Couldn’t get a picture with him in it since he’s “afraid” of it now. The castle seems a little better constructed. I do think they are overpriced.
Smaller than I thought. My cat loves these cardboard houses, hes a bit too big for it but he likes it anyway. For the price and his happiness, Im okay with it being temporary(Gnocchi destroys it after about 2 months). I like how the tape is there to secure the scratcher. Overall decent product that is not permanent.
Item assembles quickly and easily but also comes apart even quicker. The camper just sits over the scratch base. Not connected at all. The sides fall apart because the tabs are loosely connected as well. It took a few minutes to assemble it and a matter of seconds for our cats to disassemble it completely. After years of being a Chewy customer, it would be nice if I could be a recipient to all the free things other people get. Had I received this as a free promo item then I would have known not to waste my money on it. At least now I know not to bother with any of the other ones.
Very lightweight and no bottom. Was destroyed in less than a week.
Our 2 1/2 month old kitten loves this camper scratch house! Easy to put together, keeps him so entertained!
This camper is so cute and fun. It's easy to assemble and very colorful. The color scheme is a little reminiscent of a 1960's beach movie - I can hear The Beach Boys in the background. However, it could be a bit more durable. The floor/scratch pad holds up well, it's just lighter than I might have expected. Either way Tabby loves it and plays in it and sleeps in it pretty often.
