Questions & Answers

16 Customer Questions

I was surprised to see Hydrolyzed Chicken Liver in the ingredients since chicken is such a common allergy. Is hydrologyzed chicken different or better in some way?
Answer by ChewyNov 19, 2017
The hydrolyzed chicken liver has been broken down into its amino acid components to reduce the chances of it causing an allergic reaction in sensitive dogs.

Are these cans BPA-free?
Answer by ChewyJun 24, 2019
These cans are BPA-free.

Can I microwave the dog food?
Answer by ChewyJul 21, 2022
This recipe can be microwaved. Warming the food or adding warm water brings out the aroma and flavor of the food, increasing the appeal to the pet. Warm the canned or dry product to, but not above, body temperature - this can be done by warming for a few (3-5) seconds in the microwave. When microwaving the food, please cover with a microwave safe lid or microwave safe plastic wrap. Before serving the food, it is important to stir the food to ensure there are no hot spots to cause harm to the pet.

Does this contain yeast? Or wheat?
Answer by ChewyOct 23, 2017
This item does not contain yeast or wheat.

Our dog doesn't like it at all

Our vet gave us a prescription for this for our Rose who has an inflamed small intestine. It is a chore getting her to eat it. Vet recommended 1 1/2 cans twice a day. We usually end up trying to hand feed both meals, breakfast off and on from 6AM to noon and dinner off and on until about 9PM. Yesterday she ate about 3/4 of a can total. We even mix it with a little chicken broth which usually ends up with her licking at the food but eating very little. To be honest, with a consistency like bologna Jello and a pretty nasty smell, if I were Rose I wouldn't want to eat it either.

Excellent Food Supplement

Our vet provided Hills Prescription Diet and we added it to his nuggets. Our Rottweiler loved it and his appetite returned. Chewy's price was substantially lower than our vet.

It works, but it smells

Our dog has terrible food allergies. We switched to this wet food as a treat and she loves it! But the smell is quite pungent. However it keeps her allergies at bay so we persevere despite the odor.

Dented cans

The wet food is OK, but six of the cans were severely dented. I do not think that I will order canned foods for shipping again.

Z/D dog food

Our Yorkie was recently put on the Z/D food because of her allergies. First, I noticed when I open the can, it is not full. It’s kind of swirled around like an ice cream cone and then empty in the middle. Very expense anyway and then not to get full cans! Second, the food consistency is very difficult for my dog to eat.

Roo loves this & his tummy does, too!

Roo has stomach issues & this has helped so much. He likes the ZD canned food, dry food, and treats.

Great product

Our dog loves this wet food. He has a chronic colitis problem, but this food keeps his colitis at bay. All of the other dogs that come to our house love it, as well. Just wish they would keep making the 5.5 ounce cans, rather than the 13 oz.

Ok, but weird.

Our dogs will eat the dry of this but it takes some work to get them to eat the canned. It’s a strange texture and smell. If we add some sweet potato they’ll eat a little.
