What is the height with the shield?

Answer by ShannonJul 26, 2025
The description & photo shows the height from bottom of litter box to top of scatter shield is 14”. I would like to know the height of the litter pan itself, without the shield.

Does the shield attach in such a way that if the cat pees against it, the urine stays in the box?

Answer by AynzNov 21, 2025
Yes

What is the height WITHOUT the shield? Thank yoo!

It is so nice not having to see my cats struggle in a small litter box to do their business. Now they can turn around and get in and out without difficulty. They take a lot of litter but is is so worth it. Some positive suggestions; manufactures this (top & bottom) with a thicker no-stick plastic/pvc , manufacture in a non-stick stainless steel(top & bottom), better no-leak seamless connection or include a tube of ez pliable sealant, maybe offer more colors and design patterns, offer personalization. Over alll this litter box was a Great Price and good quality. Highly Recommended!

When our kitten started getting bigger than our older cat and outgrowing her "normal" sized litter box, we needed a solution. I saw this XXL box and thought that should work. Boy does it! In hind sight I should have measured it against our smaller boxes and ordered an XL if there is one, because this thing is huge. But our big little boy is still growing, so we'll keep it. Taking one star off because an option for side entry in the shield would be nice.

This is a great solution to litter scattering. It just doesn’t happen with this box, which is great. We gave this 4 rather than 5 stars due to a design issue. The front inside corners have two grooves that capture waste and keep it there, and these areas are too small to get the scoop into. So we’re constantly trying to dig out old cat poop from two of the corners, and it often stays in there. A simple smooth corner design would solve this. Not sure why the company includes these grooves. Even so, the box is worth it.

They cant kick litter backwards.

No more litter being kicked out the back of the box. I bought two for 3 cats. It also takes 60lbs of litter to keep it full so the three cats for two boxes was overkill

No more litter being kicked out the back of the box. I bought two for 3 cats. It also takes 60lbs of litter to keep it full so the three cats for two boxes was overkill. One box would have been enough if cleaned every other or every two days. Having two of these this size has been wonderful. They like it too. They practically play in it like a giant sand box.

The way this barely snaps together is not snug so it leaves a lip and gap where urine catches. I bought this for my big boy who likes to pee right on the sides or back of the litter box, the one i had wasnt high enough and he overshot so in the trash it went and I found this one, about 4 inches taller but 2 separate pieces (top and bottom) so if you have a kitty that likes to pee on the side of the box, the urine gets trapped in between the top and bottom on the inside lip because it is not a tight fit, the top basically just sits on the actual litterbox with 1 snap that secures it. Disappointed because I thought I finally found something perfect for my smaller older girl and my big boy, but alas, I am still on the hunt!

The bottom is not flat. For some reason it is raised about 1/8 inch leaving a 2 inch x 1/8 inch gutter around the interior bottom. That means you have to scrape the edges by coming off the edges instead of simply going around the perimeter of the bottom. It also did not sit level for some reason until I added enough litter to weigh the uneven side down. I like it, and it is the right size for my big kitties. It was just not designed with ease of scooping in mind. I also like the blue color!

I needed a high-sided box because (one of) my cats tends to pee over the edge. While the sides are high enough, the way the top and bottom of the box fit together doesn't prevent urine from getting outside the box. It should have been designed so that the removable top fits *into the bottom, not *onto the bottom. Unfortunately I frequently find myself having to bleach and clean up urine from around and under the box .... and when it's full of litter, it very hard to move and clean underneath the box. Not Chewy's fault by any means, but this Cat Mom is very frustrated that I can't fix my issue.

I love the size and the scatter shield, as well as the materials both are made from. BUT why have an uneven bottom of the litter pan, especially when it creates low areas all around the sides? My cats love the corners and sides to do their business, so this means wet litter and poop collects around the sides and in the corners. Because this surround area is lower, it is more difficult to scoop out. Why not have simply have a smooth bottom for the entire litter paan?

One of my cats, Tigger is 14 years old so I like to pamper him. Last fall I had three kittens on my porch and I took them in. I've had cats my whole life but never experienced anything like this. All of a sudden Tigger started pooping over the side of the pan. After getting a second pan regular size nothing changed. It looked as if the pans were too small and that was exactly what it was. No more over the top in this house!

Another litter box we bought for our new cat clan member who does #1 with her rear end facing the opening. I have had to modify the opening a bit as the new cat's habit has defeated the higher opening. After a few days usage and seeing where the #1 piles are I am a little concerned the #1 might get under the scatter shield and potentially be a harbor for smells making weekly cleaning of the the scatter sheet required.
