Is it necessary to buy another filter after the old one is removed ? And does the filter give off any scent (my cat's nose is very sensitive.)

This hooded litter box solved the problem and fits neatly into a corner, giving us extra space. Minus one star because the latches are impossible to work, but clothespins work fine.

The cover was important to us at first because we had to keep the litter right outside the bedroom door while the kittens were new and getting used to us. But as they grew and had access to the whole house we keep the litter in the basement and don't use the lid. They actually use the lid in another area like a little play cave:)

With the corner design, I can now place it near the entrance to my basement, open the door more conveniently with more space, and avoid moving the box.
