Questions & Answers

38 Customer Questions

We have previously purchased this product. After several years the heating pad no longer works and we would like to purchase a new pad and cover. Can we do that?

Answer by RebeccaOct 15, 2025
I have the same problem. They have a K&H outdoor heating pad with fleece that is 18” and I don’t know if that’s the right size to replace the old one.

Iis this house able to withstand windsand rain and snow

Answer by ChewyDec 16, 2017
K&H's heated beds and pads are water-resistant. They're designed to be used safely with pets, even when the pet is water-soaked. Please make sure to place the bed or pad in a relatively dry area such as a covered porch, garage, kennel or dog house. The bed or pad should not be placed where there is a potential for standing water from heavy rain and the product should not be immersed in water.

How many cats could fit in this house?

Answer by ChewyMar 10, 2024
This will depend on the size of each cat. The sleeping surface area for this product is 14 x 18 inches. For multiple cats, it is recommended to use the K&H Pet Products Outdoor Multi-Kitty A-Frame, which has a sleeping surface of 19 x 24 inches.

Where are the two doors located?

Answer by ChewyDec 13, 2022
This cat house has a door on both the front and back for easy escape.

We have several feral friends that have free range through our fenced yard, they often sleep on our patio furniture. As it's winter I thought it would be nice to provide a little more protection and comfort. I have previously made shelters for them using storage tubs with styrofoam insulation and straw. We first put this on an uncovered patio, under the eaves, and left off the doors, I put some treats and catnip in it. they were in and out of it the very first day! They quickly discovered the warming pad and the male took ownership after day two - he naps in it several times a day and sleeps in it at night. If he's not around the littlest one will get in it immediately. We got a winter storm with several days of horrible freezing rain -so we moved the heated cat house under our covered patio and made a fort with the patio furniture and tarps and put all the cat houses under it. Our poor babies pretty much stayed under the tarp and in the heated house the whole time. We are going to set up a more permanent shelter and buy more of these. I don't think they would care to have the door flaps on it even though it would be warmer, I think they prefer being able to see out both sides and escape quickly. We have oppossum and raccoons that forage regularly, they have not messed with it so far, I don't think it would stand up to a raccoon assault, but it's good for the price and well built for what it's intended for.

I have bought over a half dozen various products from K&H over the last decade and this one did not disappoint. Bought this for a formally feral cat who cannot tolerate confinement in house/garage but I want her to feel warm and safe on our porch. Although the house is just for one cat, I purchased this model for the extra space and double opening (escape route). Easy to assemble, sturdy, good warmth and comforting safety features. I'm hoping this item will be as long term reliable as all the other K&H products I have purchased (heated water bowls, heated cat pad, outdoor heated dog beds). K&H and Chewy = perfect combination for taking care of my pets!

You get what you pay for

As long as the weather is nice this house is an okay shelter but the heating pad hardly even got warm and stopped working completely after a few weeks. This house is not water proof. I have to regularly dry it out after a heavy rain to ensure my outdoor feral cats do not freeze during the winter months. I do not have a covered porch or patio so unless you do I would not recommend. The heating pad also messed up my outdoor gfci outlet and I had to have it replaced. I bought this shelter on a sale and I guess it was worth the $30 I paid but I am not impressed by the quality and would not repurchase at any price.

I bought this because of the k&h name as I have three of their other houses. The shelter itself is fairly decent but the heating pad is very very cheaply made. Thin vinyl covers the heating pad and the electric cord is flimsy and questionable. Super dissatisfied and disappointed with this aspect of the product. The only reason I didn't return it is a snowstorm was upon us and needed something.

Good value on sale.

Sets up easily like an origami house made of semi rigid foamed panels cladded synthetic tough skin. Held together by built-in velcro strips surprisingly strong

Sets up easily like an origami house made of semi rigid foamed panels cladded synthetic tough skin. Held together by built-in velcro strips surprisingly strong. The roof just tough enough to survived my 15 lb cat. The warm pad come separately from the house panels. It is big enough for two 15lb cats to snuggle in but mostly they like it best solo.

Our 2 cats are very happy campers. They are indoor / outdoor cats. They love spending time outdoors but are not fans of our New England winter weather. We bought 2 houses so they each have their own special place. We placed them in our barn, with one cat door facing out the windows. They now have a personal place to hang out away from our house that's cozy and warm and out of the wind. Plus, they can still keep an eye on what's going on both in the barn and outside.

Affordable and super functional

This heated cat (animal) shelter is super easy to assemble and to store away when the seasons change. Connected by Velcro, it all ends up laying flat for storage. I made sure to test it with a pillow before letting my cats use it like suggested and that worked perfectly as a test that the pad isn't getting too hot. The cord is a bit short for some applications, though. I got some catnip and spread a bit inside on the carpet-like material and had to set each cat inside with the roof partially open to get them to go in as they were a bit timid about the plastic "doggy" door on each side. Once they were inside, I let them come out of the door and then I set them back inside through the top and then it seemed that they learned how warm it was pretty quickly and proceeded to test out the entrance to get into it without me setting them in through the top. Highly recommend for any small outdoor animals needing some warmth. Thank you Chewy!

I have ALS, and am trying to provide for the cats in my rescue after my imminent death. Spot is my only indoor/ outdoor kitty, refusing to stay inside since I brought him in as a stray. (And yes, he is fixed.) A neighbor has agreed to feed him and watch over him, after I am gone, but I needed a warm shelter for Iowa winters. I put it on my back porch for now, and the first night it was there, he found it and stayed in it all night, refusing to come in to the house. He has spent several more nights in it, now, only occasionally coming in to sleep on my pillow above my head. I am certain when I move it to her porch, he will continue to use it. It is reassuring to know he will be warm after I am gone.

Portable warm cat house

Once again I am 100% satisfied with my purchase from Chewy. I bought this cat house for my outside covered porch as we take care of a few feral neighborhood cats

Once again I am 100% satisfied with my purchase from Chewy. I bought this cat house for my outside covered porch as we take care of a few feral neighborhood cats. Extremely easy to put together as you just use the attached Velcro to place pieces together. Sturdy, two exit/entrances, and very heavy durable material used. We put a plug in warming pad in the home and the outside cats are using at night which makes me very happy as it’s bitterly cold here. I highly recommend this product and the price can’t be beat.
