Is it safe to have the bed plugged in and heating all the time?

This bed may be plugged in as needed. MET Safety Laboratories suggests unplugging the bed if you leave your home on an extended vacation, as they do with any electrical appliance. Otherwise, it is designed for 24/7 operation and you can leave it plugged in all day or night.

Question for the manufacturer: What do you mean by 'dual thermostat'? From reading, you consider 'dual' to mean on & off.

The dual thermostat allows the surface of the bed to be about 15°F above ambient air temperature until the pet lies on the bed. Then it will warm to about 102°F, which is the natural body temperature of dogs and cats.

Does this bed turn off when the cat exits?

Is the cover of the bed removable for washing?

Warmth that lasts generations

Bit of an emotional review but it just goes to show how lovely the bed is in terms of quality and function! I originally got this for my old lady cat when she started to lose weight during her battle with kidney disease. She (like so many cats) LOVED to get all tuggled up in blankets and soft spots, but I always thought she’d love the heated aspect of these kinds of beds to keep her nice and comfortable on cold nights when I was at work and unable to give her all the cuddles she deserved! Needless to say, she LOVED it! I would often find her lounging in the bed throughout the day, i placed it high on her cat tower so my little void could hang out and survey the world from a comfy vantage point. I unfortunately lost her earlier this year due to her worsening kidney disease, our other cat never cared too much for cat beds, preferring to hang out on piles of laundry and other inconvenient locations, it wasn’t until I rescued another little black kitten from a truck stop that the bed saw an increase in use again. It took a bit for him to notice, but now he LOVES the bed. He frequently brings his toys in there for snuggles and i’ll always see the little points of his ears above the rim of the bed when I get home in the mornings. Call it what you want, but it always makes my heart feel warm to see him soaking up the warmth of the bed during the day. I miss my sweet old lady, but I’m so happy the bed has lasted long enough to give another cat the chance to enjoy it. 10/10 product!

Great Bed!

I bought two beds for my cats. They're ready to use out of the box, no complex setup. Within a day my girl already lounged in both beds LOL. It's been almost a week

I bought two beds for my cats. They're ready to use out of the box, no complex setup. Within a day my girl already lounged in both beds LOL. It's been almost a week and she only comes out to eat and meow at me in the mornings. She's in love. Still trying to get my guy to try it - he's still obsessed with his tree. Once he does, I know he'll love it. Very happy with my purchases!

I got this in the larger size for my cats. My 21 lb domestic long hair (8 year old) cat loves it. It doesn’t get as warm as I thought but it gets warm enough for Bean (the senior cat). Two suggestions to make the cats warm (pun intended) up to it quicker: 1) place it Off the floor. I put mine on the top shelf of a bar cart. 2) place a small pouch of cat nip under the cushion. The senior cat returns to it faithfully

This is the first bed I’ve got for my girl that she actually loves! For reference, I got a small bed and my cat is small sized(8lbs) and it’s the perfect size for her. I love the way the heat works on this bed because I never worry about it getting too hot like the heating pads I’ve used for neonate kittens. I also like that I can just leave it plugged in and it does its job and I don’t have to worry about it (I only unplug it if I’m leaving the house for vacation/extended periods of time) She loves that it’s study and has high walls so she can curl up. It doesn’t get too cold where I live but I wanted to give her the option and it’s her fav spot in the house. I also like the color of it, it’s super cute.

Heating element too weak

I was hopeful this would work, but the heating pad never got above my own body temperature so it certainly was not able to warm the bed itself. Then when I reached

Then when I reached out to Chewy for a return/refund some weird accounting situation happened either because an employee didn’t know what they were doing, didn’t listen to me, or already knew I would want to return the bed because Chewy had already refunded the item to me before I ever tried to plug it in! Well back to the item itself. The heat didn’t work and the shape of the bed was messed up due to shipping. Overall not worth the time or money. I donated to a thrift store so maybe someone else will have more luck.

Slow...but complete...acceptance of this new bed

I bought this about 6 weeks ago and set it up immediately because I have one cat that commandeers any lap when the house temperature goes below 75 degrees. A heated bed seemed like a good idea. Eventually, it was. But it took awhile and some tweaking. Neither of my two cats even looked at the bed for a few weeks and I thought I had wasted money. I then moved the bed around the house a bit to see if location affected things. No luck. Then I decided it might be a smell thing so I placed an old towel in/on the bed. Several days later one of the cats spent about 1/2 hour in the bed. He did it again. Then the other cat decided to try it.....and she immediately felt the difference....and has spent hours in the bed every day ever since. Success! Money well spent and a lap now freed :-)

Low but effective hear

I've tried other heated pet beds that ended up burning my poor cat! I have the vet bill to prove this. I figured I would try this bed based on its 10 to 15 degrees

I've tried other heated pet beds that ended up burning my poor cat! I have the vet bill to prove this. I figured I would try this bed based on its 10 to 15 degrees warmer claim. How? I sat on it for hours as I worked on my pc. Lol Then I sat on another heated pet bed I had removed. The other bed got hot spots that hurt me. This bed stayed steady, warm but never too warm. This bed has steady low heat. I let this bed go into use. I have an elderly cat who is on solencia shots for joint pain, but she still enjoys this heated bed. Heat allows her muscles to relax and blood to flow to her old lady bones. I keep checking the amount of heat daily, its remained steady. Its the best therapy I can give her at home. I have noticed a remarkable difference in her daily routine with her new treatments. My vet is very pleased with her progress. I recommend this product. But please keep an eye on Any heated bed you buy.

Very big!

I got the larger size just because is was on sale for the same price as the smaller one. Our cat likes to stretch out so I figured the bigger size would be okay

I got the larger size just because is was on sale for the same price as the smaller one. Our cat likes to stretch out so I figured the bigger size would be okay for her. She avoids beds with a "pillow" part for whatever reason, so it took a little convincing. Now she loves it! I felt the pillow while she was on it and it seems like the perfect temperature. It would actually be really nice for a mama kitty, although those days are behind Midnight. She does like to curl up but I like that she can still be toasty when she's all stretched out too. Seems like it shuts off by itself when she's not on it, which is nice since there's no switch and unplugging it each time would be a hassle.

My cats loved this bed at first sight, which is the most important thing. They seem to really enjoy the high, firm sides to lean against and rest their heads on. I had to buy a second one! What I like most about it is that the heat is low and even, so I don’t have to worry about it getting too hot and can leave it plugged in all the time. This is by far the best cat bed I’ve ever gotten!

My cat was suspicious - stepped into it once, but never really gave it a try. The very old and slightly arthritic pug LOVES it, though. The walls are high and firm enough that she gets plenty of support, and I think she loves the very gentle heat. It doesn't get super warm, but she can tell the difference for sure, and it's her new favorite napping place.
