Is this a “stay on” heatin unit, or does it shut off automatically after a certain number of hours. I’m looking for a stay on unit.

K&H heated beds and pads will emit heat anytime they are plugged in so your pet can sense that heat and be drawn to the bed or pad for warmth and comfort. When your pet is not on the pad, the heat will dissipate into the air and the surface temperature will vary according to the ambient air temperature. MET Safety Laboratories suggests unplugging the bed if you leave your home on an extended vacation, as they do with any electrical appliance. Otherwise, it is designed for 24/7 operation and you can leave it plugged in all day. This bed has been certified by MET labs to adhere to strict electrical safety standards.

Description says it's machine-washable, but is it also okay to put in the dryer? Can the whole bed (minus the heating pad, of course) go into the washer, or do you have to remove the foam or insulation and only put the cover in the washer?

With the exception of the heating pad, this full bed can be machine washed. However, it also features a removable cover that can be washed as well. It is recommended to line dry this bed or use a no-heat cycle.

Is this for outdoor use? Very important - I have an outdoor colony that needs a heated bed.

This bed includes a removable four-watt heater to warm your paw-tner up on colder nights and is designed to remain 10-15 degrees above the ambient air temperature. It is also machine washable for easy cleaning.

She loves it!

Placed almost 18 y.o. Lillie on the bed and she took right to it. Sure beats heat rice warmers and tucking in around bed constantly. Works great and she’s in it

Placed almost 18 y.o. Lillie on the bed and she took right to it. Sure beats heat rice warmers and tucking in around bed constantly. Works great and she’s in it for most of day and goes to a different bed or rocker top when i guess needs to cool down. Understand why doesn’t have but wish cord was a bit longer as limits where can use and was thinking of getting the solo heating unit but is same as one in bed so cord too short. Would have liked the chocolate colored bed better but got the gray as it was less expensive in case she didn’t take to it (think looser floppier materials too) and probably older model and now the chocolate one’s no longer available. Thrilled she loves it. And haven’t noticed electric bill any different as check everyday so usage (24/7plugged in) costs negligible.

My cat is 23 years old and I noticed she was always curling up by a heat vent. I thought she would appreciate a heated bed so I figured I'd give it a try. When I got it, I thought it wasn't working because it wasn't getting warm. Then I read that you should put a pillow on it to feel the warmth and I realized that it only works when there is weight on it. I put her in it and she spent the ENTIRE day in it, just getting up to go to the bathroom and eat. Best Christmas gift I've ever bought!

This bed is a total hit with my cat Zoe. It's very soft and it's deep enough that she can curl up and sleep. She doesn't like something that covers her head. She's used that type a couple times and never returns. Not the case with this one. Good product. I should note that my review cannot speak to the warming factor. I had it plugged in and the first time she stepped into it she jumped right back out. So she uses it without electrical heating.

Two of my cats have used these, and seem to like them on cold days. They maintain a light warmth, which keeps them in use. The sides are not firm, but very soft, which is helpful to my large 13 lb. cat that likes to sit in it and hang over the side. I have two of the cups, and my medium (10 to 12 lb) cats can easily curl up in them. I am a fan of K & H products and also have 4 of the outdoor heated houses that I have used for years, and are still going strong. It’s a good company and makes good products.

My Picky Cat LOVES This

My older cat has had many beds over the years. The longest she would lay in them was a couple of hours (if at all). Most, she just ignored and went somewhere else

My older cat has had many beds over the years. The longest she would lay in them was a couple of hours (if at all). Most, she just ignored and went somewhere else to sleep. This bed, however, is COMPLETELY the opposite! She absolutely LOVES THE BED and is nested in there 3/4 (maybe more) of her time spent sleeping and a lot of her waking hours, too. I am astonished and so happy to have FINALLY found something she loves. She is so much happier now. Thank you!!

Fan favorite but no structure

My cat loves this bed. It feels slightly warm when it’s empty but once the cat lays in it, it is noticeably warmer than the rest of the house. The only downside

My cat loves this bed. It feels slightly warm when it’s empty but once the cat lays in it, it is noticeably warmer than the rest of the house. The only downside is the side walls have little to no structure or padding, so they flop inward if he leans on them at all. I have to readjust often or else he lays on the top and doesn’t get any of the warming pad.

This bed looks so nice online and had great reviews. I couldn’t wait for it to come in. I have a senior cat who gets cold easily. I got this today in the mail and was very disappointed. It’s paper thin. The material feels and looks cheap. I have bought nicer cat beds at Aldi’s for 15 dollars. I LOVE Chewy but this was s the second cat bed I have bought through the site and they are the only purchases I truly regret. I will give it to the local rescue bc they can’t least use the heating pad.

Choco was my 21 year old cat. She had arthritis and in the months before she passed away, I got her this bed. She was always in it. She loved this bed. Some people will say it's too floppy but I liked this aspect because it meant I can see her sleeping in it during the day from the cat camera. Plus, when it was time for bed, I could just fold her up in it like a little taco and transport her to the bedroom. It gave her so much warmth and comfort in her last months. I'm so grateful.
