    Structural and visibility issues

    By on

The material is good quality, although the turquoise maybe a bit too bright for some. The real problem for small pets is that there’s no rigid material to hold the interior open and off of them. The only rigid structure is at the base of the carrier. Also, the top mesh doesn’t provide sufficient visibility for the pet to see out when zipped closed. A close miss I’ll need to return this one.

Great quality, comfortable for me and my dog

Love this bag. My pup is a 26 pound cocker spaniel, she fits perfectly in the bag with the top open, she has a little extra room around her but not much. Closing the top is a bit too tight. We got it for the bike and moped and longer hikes that she needs breaks on (she’s an old lady), and this bag is perfect for that. If you want a travel bag that closes, I’d say this bag would be good for pups no bigger than 20lbs. The bottom of the bag is solid and she seems very comfortable. I’m 5’2” and the bag is comfortable to wear. It has a sternum buckle in front, but no waste strap which would have been nice. Overall great quality and would buy again.

Fit for a princess (aka spoiled city pup)

I purchased this backpack to transport my 15 pound Cavalier King Charles Spaniel to/from daycare during inclement weather and when it is too hot or cold for her to walk. We live in a city and the walk is about a mile one way. It works for us. She has plenty of room in the carrier and likes to look out the top. I think she enjoys the different view from when we walk :) When I glanced at our reflection in windows she seems very content (and cute). I’m petite. I originally looked at Kurgo’s G-train backpack. I bought it for my sister and she loves it. However, when I tried hers on it hit in the wrong place on my back. With my frame, this isn’t uncommon for me with backpacks and it hurts. I bought it for my sister and she loves it. However, when I tried hers on it hit in the wrong place on my back. With my frame, this isn’t uncommon for me with backpacks and it hurts. This backpack, the Rucksack, is slightly shorter and didn’t cause the pain the other did. The back and shoulders have the appropriate level of padding. More than I thought and I’m happy with it. Even with the shorter height, my pup still had plenty of room and the shape of the Rucksack actually works better for her. This seems to have a more square-ish compartment for the pup. Also the opening to stick their head out is bigger than the G-train. I like that I can have it open for her, a mesh cover, and the regular cover in case or rain/snow (there are side vents for air). The colors are nice. I love the interior color. I wish Kurgo made a matching leash and harness of the interior color. The exterior has a slightly more blue/grayish color than expected. There is dark brown leather/faux leather that is characteristic of a rucksack. There are three pockets: (1) an interior laptop or water bladder bag pocket, (2) a back pocket for an iPad mini or the like, and (3) a very small front pocket that would be good for a credit card or the like. Honestly, the pockets are pretty useless unless it’s for those purposes. There is no separate place for food, leash, etc. or a wallet. You could put it in with the dog, but mine would eat it or it could be uncomfortable for her. The G-train has better and more useful pockets. This won’t impact our use because I’ll have my work tote with me and I’ll put her food and leash in that, but I wanted it to be the only bag for a hike, it would be difficult. I do wish the tether was adjustable, but it works for us. The bag is not as rigid as one would think. We have some issues at first figure out how to get her into it with ease. The bag kept collapsing, but we eventually figured it out over the first few times we used it. Her SleepyPod Air and Wildone Tote are easier in that respect, but the backpack style is better for longer trips. … more

    Fits Even a Miniature Schnauzer!

    By on

It's hard to find a backpack big enough to fit a 20 lb miniature schnauzer so I was skeptical about how this bag would fit him. But it fits him perfectly!! The bottom is solid so he can keep his footing and not panic. The bag is well ventilated so he did not get too warm while inside. He can sit comfortably inside and had a great time! My only issue that keeps it from being five stars is that after a while wearing it with a dog like a miniature schnauzer, the shoulder straps right where the clip is can get a little uncomfortable. Additionally, the leash clip inside the bag can be a bit short for a larger 'small' dog. It still works though, just a bit snug to attach to a harness.
