I use this bag for my cat and dog all the time. It has a clip inside so you can secure your pet while keeping it completely open (I’ve gone skiing, biking… and it has kept my pets safely attached inside). The base is solid which also helps keep them comfortable. It has a lot of space and waterproof inside incase of pet accidents, it also has a soft removable mat that can easily be washed. I travel a lot and though it’s spacious it is within airline norms and easily fits under the seat infront of you. On top of this it is quite fashionable and looks like a regular backpack when you close all the flaps, (incase you need to sneak your pet in somewhere). Also works quite well as a cooler of you need to keep drinks fresh. I’m obsessed with this bag as are my pets!
This seems sort of pricey, but honestly isn’t. It not only holds an animal up to 18lbs well with room to move around, you can put a laptop or tablet in it. The nicest feature is, if you can get your animal to be calm, if you keep the flap over, no one knows your pet is in there . It looks like a backpack. It fits just fine under airplane seats. My baby did well traveling with this bag. My only issue is the magnetic closures on the front did not do well when my dog wanted to wiggle a lot. I would also try to add a way to put a small lock on it. Other than that, very cool, very sturdy, very useful backpack/ pet carrier.
Licorice is 16 pounds. He can sit up in the backpack or curl into a ball at the bottom. On the airplane, I had to put the bag flat on its back to slide it under the seat, and Lico used it like a sleeping bag. This is a major upgrade from our last bag, the Petgear bag, which was cheaper and very comfy for him, but not as attractive, discreet or easy to carry as this one. Pluses: No one has any idea there’s a dog in there!!! The bag looks sleek and attractive. The pockets are functional. The chest strap helps distribute the weight, making it easier to carry. Downsides: the dog has to be placed into the bag—he can’t just walk in, so if your dog isn’t used to carrier bags, I imagine there might be an adjustment period where he fights it. There could be more mesh for air circulation. If the secrecy flap is down, there are only two small vents on either side. Still, Licorice seems fine in there. 4,9/5 stars.
This bag is GREAT. But it's short for my dog. Yes, be sure to read the dimensions. I didn't. My dog loved it but she couldn't see out at the top...oh well...I do hope Kurgo will hear me and make a shorter one.
