My cat, Baby, has been on the transdermal methimazole for a couple yrs. Her thyroid was stable since finding this dose. Unfortunately, all of a sudden, she started losing weight. Took her to the vet and we tested her T4. It was much higher than it should be. This happened while one of my other cats was also diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism. I purchased my newly diagnosed other cat a few of the Chewy transdermal pens while trying to find her dose. However, her T4 wasn't coming down. My vet had two other patients on the transdermal methimazole from Chewy. Baby and her two other patients were no longer stable. My vets office also called Chewy to alert them that something was wrong with their methimazole compound. We had to switch to a different compound pharmacy for Baby, same dose, and her thyroid is normal again. Thank goodness. My other kitty was put on the pill on a lower dose and we immediately saw her T4 lower. I was told a Chewy compound pharmacist would call me because they were going to investigate, but I did not hear anything.

Does the job, not exactly what I expected.

My cat has been on thyroid meds for 6 months now and got too smart for the pill form so I asked my vet about getting a compound. He still runs from me when I go to give him his dose but I am spared all of the scratches and bites I was getting everyday trying to get him the pill. So far it has worked pretty well but I was under the impression that the meds would last longer then they have. Getting a compound makes my budget already tighter, especially when I didn't get the funds to get another dose so soon until yesterday. Being that I just ran out on Xmas eve of all days, my guy won't be getting anything till at least Friday if I can either have my next refill rushed or buy a few pills from my vet in the meantime. Overall I would recommend just try to make sure you have enough to buy at least the middle or biggest dose so you have more cushion if you need to order sooner!

I Have Concerns!

This medication says it needs to be kept at room temperature. Shipping was supposed to arrive Friday. I was not going to be home and it was going to be freezing out so I arranged for a neighbor to come get it. Well then the shipping was delayed. I still did not have it on Sunday and I did a chat with the pharmacist who told me that Fedex would keep it in temp controlled warehouse. It finally arrived on Monday, 6 days after it shipped. There are NO markings on this box to tell Fedex to store it at room temperature. There was record cold temperatures from the time this left Chewy until it arrived. I have no confidence that this medication is going to work now that it has surely been well below room temperature for some or all of this 6 days. I have no choice but to find another provider where I can be sure that it will be handled correctly. It is a lot of money, but more worrying is the health of my cat is at risk.

Transdermal is the way to go! Anyone who gives their cat an oral medication long term knows even the nicest cat may begin to avoid you because they don't want the oral medication... and I missed my furry boy's love! So I gave this transdermal medication a try... WHAT A DIFFERENCE! My kitty boy was back to loving on me again within a couple of days. Medication works as well as oral, is inexpensive and lasts me several months. Definitely a winner

I’ve used transdermal medicine on a cat a long time ago but this applicator is so much easier! I twist it until I hear two clicks then I rub it on the inside of my cat’s ear, and she doesn’t mind it at all! The vet retested her after a month and the medication is working, her thyroid number is back to normal.

My 16 year old hyperthyroid cat was just put on this medication. Had to have it compounded at a pharmacy about 25 miles from home and then had to pick it up. Took approximately 10 days. Ordered from Chewy - received 50% more medication for 20% more in price and only took 6 days to have it delivered. Chewy comes through again!

This is my first time with transdermal gel and this clicker was very easy to use! There are lines and "refill" etched onto the clicker so you can see when you are getting close to using it up, which is helpful. Overall, I'm satisfied and ordered a second one for my hyperthyroid kitty.

No more fighting with cats

This is a bit expensive compared to the pills, however, it is sooooo easy to give to him. I make like something really exciting and get him to come lay next to me on the sofa, and then I pet him all over making sure to touch his ears...everywhere...and when he's relaxed I just take the medicine and rub it right on his inner ear like I was continuing his petting. Sometimes he sees the tube and gets a little anxious but I just let him know it's all done now and how much of a good boy he was. Thanks for compounding this medication for me, with no exaggeration, I would have had to pay to have the vet medicate him because it's impossible to give him a pill. This is a lifesaver! For him and I! Lol

The outside temperature when the package was delivered was 10 degrees F. The box was uninsulated. It should have been sent in an insulated box! Luckily I have a doorbell cam so I saw it being delivered, but I wasn't home. The fedex guy just tossed it on the porch and didn't ring the bell. I got home within 20 minutes. Hope the medication can withstand freezing for 20 minutes!

5 days for shipping is too long in Ca! And never can tell when dispenser is running out as you make it too complicated and Auto ship didn’t say my credit card was valid even though I have used everywhere else today! And why dont you tell there is no refill for the transdermal as it adds to delay in shipping! And your app and web site are not clear on the different sizes to order!
