Have a ball birdwatching by hanging Perky-Pet Seed Ball Wild Bird Feeder in your yard. This unique bird feeder features a six-inch round shape and a beautiful red finish, and invites all kinds of birds to feed. Without the use of plastic or wood components, the premium metal construction of Perky-Pet Seed Ball Wild Bird Feeder stands up against squirrels and other small animals that may try to access birdseed. Birds visiting your yard will be happy that they’re not sharing their feast with other animals, which will keep them coming back to feed again and again. 1.12 lb of black oil sunflower seed, the most popular seed for wild birds, is held in the feeder. The mesh wire design welcomes clinging birds and keeps water from pooling in the seed container – perfect for withstanding elements of snow and rain!

The best thing to do is to stop feeding the birds temporarily. Remove the feeders and throw out all of the seed. Thoroughly wash your feeders. Remove all debris from under your feeder. Do not touch the sick birds. Refill all of your feeders and resume feeding.
You will need to sterilize your seed to prevent it from germinating. This will not alter the attractiveness or the nutritional value of the seed in any way. Here are two methods:Conventional Oven: Place the seed on a baking sheet and cook for 30 minutes at 300°F.Microwave Oven: Place seed in a paper bag. Cook on high power for 5 minutes.
Mold is caused by a heavy rain, driving sleet or snow plugging the feeding ports and allowing water to dampen the seed. Always clean, dry and refill your feeders after heavy weather. You may also want to try placing 1/4" of cat litter in the bottom of the feeder to absorb excess moisture.

I have purchased four of these feeders I fill them with black oil sunflower seeds and add some peanut butter suet nuggets around the edge near the top. The cardinals, chickadees. and titmouse loved them. This spring the goldfinches have shown up in a flock and stayed. We have tried thistle seed to attract goldfinch, but without success.
Have tried this feeder but found it was too small for the birds to hang on and too small for some of the seeds to come out. Would like to return them if possible.
I bought this to hang outside our window. Our cat loves to sit on the window sill and watch the birds stop by for a bite. Perfect size. And love the color!
Finches really seem to like this one, I get house finches and goldfinches. The sparrows will use it if the tube feeder is empty. I've seen a downy woodpecker visit it a few times. I was hoping the cardinals would like this, but they can't seem to get the hang of it. The squirrels have figured it out though: they hang upside down by their back feet from the branch the feeder is on. The mesh of the feeder is somewhat flexible, so if it arrives with a dent in it, or if the holes toward the bottom are too small, you can manipulate it a bit.
Needed something the birds could eat easily out of and the squirrels would not destroy. This is great! Two different ways to hang it means some flexibility where it gets put, a branch or a pole. Getting my fourth feeder. The top is hard to get off, uses a little elbow grease, and snaps back into place; that means squirrels cannot open it! Rain slides thru it and drains pretty well.
I purchased this feeder to keep squirrels from gorging all the bird seed. I filled with black oil sunflower seed. Unfortunately, the holes are too small for the birds to get the seed out.
I realize you don't claim this product as squirrel proof but some of the reviews said it was harder for squirrels to use. My squirrels have it mastered!
I wanted a feeder for shelled peanuts that the pigeons, deer and squirrels could not get at. Thsi works great. Attracts lots of woodpeckers.
Birds don't land on this much at all. I like it very nice design but only the woodpeckers seem to use it. Hmmmm
Good, sturdy little feeder. I filled it with black oil sunflower seeds and hung it next to a tube feeder on a pole. The next day, Oak Titmice started coming frequently to feed from it. The finches prefer the tube feeder and tray, but the Oak Titmice seem to like the ball feeder. Some seeds fall out, but they are eaten by birds who prefer feeding on the ground, so it doesn't really matter.
