Questions & Answers

How do you open this thing? Trying to figure out how to get the 2 halves to come apart?

Answer by ChewyAug 06, 2018
This interactive cat feeder does not open into two halves. This opens by turning and releasing the compartment lid. Adjust the hole size to allow one piece of food to pass through easily. To adjust the hole size, slide open the small lock mechanism conveniently located on the side of the SlimCat, and rotate the top of the SlimCat to the desired hole size. Then slide back the lock mechanism.

my cat's food is blue buffalo which is very small pellets so what's the smallest you can make the hole(s)

Answer by ChewyOct 15, 2020
The opening for this product will measure approximately 1 inch when fully adjusted. This product is compatible with most dry foods in all sizes and hold up to 2/3 cups of dry kibble or treats.

What's the diameter?

Answer by ChewyJul 23, 2018
This interactive cat feeder has a diameter of 3.25 inches.

Is this ball easily lost? I imagine I would have a tough time finding this wherever they last left it.

Answer by ChewyJul 19, 2019
Locating this feeder would depend on a few factors. Such as the size of the home or area the cat is playing in or the cat themselves. Since all cats play differently, we wouldn't be able to determine how easy it is to find the feeder. This feeder measures 3 ¼ inch in diameter.

I had high hopes for this. I also really like the two different size holes so you can adjust for difficulty and for the size of the kibble your cat eats. My cat likes this toy well enough as well. It does slow down her eating but it doesn’t provide her much exercise. She make sure it’s up against a solid surface so she can bat it around without moving and have thr kibble fall out. Unfortunately my cat is really smart and I came home from work and she had taken the lid off. There is no bell so it’s quite to use after you go to bed which has decreased her complaints at 4am for food.

Decent treat ball, just needs better customization

I got this to keep my cats preoccupied while I'm busy. At least it's better than the handmade cardboard puzzle "ball" I made that wouldn't roll LOL. Easy to use. I just wish narrowing the small holes didn't also enlarge the large holes, and it could use one fewer hole for each size. And the lock isn't very sturdy; I was able to easily shift the difficulty even with the lock engaged. But at least my cats like it. I got two balls: the green one to hold dry food, and pink one for treats. I'd recommend keeping them confined to a large box so they don't roll under the couch or whatever.

Stella gets 10 treats in this toy each day. She really likes it, she gets an automatic reward. The ball has a variety of size openings and you could feed your cat a full meal of kibble if you choose. Stella isn’t food motivated in general but loves getting treats from this toy.

My two boys were getting... well, a bit more present than they needed to be. You heard them coming from mile away and they each felt like a Mack truck when they pounced on me in the morning. With these balls they are able to get treats AND burn off some calories at the same time. I'm so looking forward to seeing their reduced fancatsticness very soon. I'll keep you posted.

Not a good puzzle

The treats do not stay inside the toy. I’ve stuffed it with a pipe cleaner, but he’s not interested in removing it. I’m kind of disappointedin this toy.

Perfect Design For Chickens, Affordable

I've bought 6 of these so far, I put seeds or mealworms in them for my chickens. I've even modified one so it hangs. The holes can be adjusted for different treat

I've bought 6 of these so far, I put seeds or mealworms in them for my chickens. I've even modified one so it hangs. The holes can be adjusted for different treat sizes, so if you use small seeds like millet or canary seed, you can make it more challenging. Much better than the treat dispensers marketed for chickens. My chickens prefer I put their treats in their balls rather than scattering them on the ground, they scratch and peck at them to knock the treats out. I think it makes their little birds brains feel so smart & accomplished.

It scatters too much food on the ground. Even though I tried to close it up to reduce the amount coming out, it is still too much. It has become a toy for Smokey but Bandit, who needed it for diet, does not get the benefit of it.
