Cute toy but too complicated for my cat!

I really like the pizza treat hider and my cat likes the idea of it. Unfortunately, he really cannot figure out how to move the slices around and get the treats out! So he spends a lot of time standing on top of the slices and pawing at the center. That said, although I adore his furry little self, I also do not expect this particular cat to receive a Mensa invitation letter, if you know what I mean, so others' mileage may vary. But it still gets high marks for quality, holding his interest, and likelihood that other cats would enjoy.

My cat doesn't seem to be too excited about this toy. I tried putting catnip and treats in it. If I help him out a little by exposing a bit of the bin for him, he'll get it, but otherwise, he doesn't bother. =( I think our other cat (who passed away last spring) would have loved it though.

Eight compartments to stash treats

The product is well made. My two cats will go for the food only if they can see it, so I leave one halfway opened halfway shut. they haven’t figured out how to

My cat August isn’t the smartest cat, but he is very food motivated. He couldn’t understand other puzzles, but this one he figured out in a day. The other cat followed his lead. This was a very good way to get them to stop scratching my door at 4AM, leave it out at nighttime.

My cat will stay with this toy for long periods and use his paw to bat the “slices” aside to retrieve the treats underneath. He can dip his paw into a pocket and flip the treat out onto the floor. At times he almost gets the treat into his mouth using his paw! That’s quite an increase in dexterity, motivated by this toy.

Ignored by cat

another waste of $$$. Cat showed absolutely no interest in this no matter what treats or catnip were put inside, ymmv. Donated to local animal shelter.

It took some doing to get them to figure out how to move the sliders to get to the treats -- and one of them still seems not to have figured it out. Or else he's just not as food-motivated as his sister, so he's satisfied once he's gotten one, and doesn't pursue things further. But my food-motivated kitty apparently figured it out all by herself. I kept trying to show her how to move the sliders to find the next treat, and she didn't seem to get it when I showed her. But then one day I just put treats in it and left it alone, and when I checked it the next day, all the slots were empty! So I put some more in, and she came in and started digging around at it until she got the lids to move, and got every single one of those treats. I tried another feeder game that had lids that were much harder to move, and my cats just gave up trying to get to the treats in that one -- even my food-motivated kitty. So I really appreciated how easily the lids move on this one, making it easier for my cats to get to the treats.

Fun way to eat

My kitten likes this because she can eat her food in a fun way. It keeps her entertained, and it’s not overly complicated.
