How Nutrition Can Help

Even a lovingly obstinate Abyssinian loves this

I tried every other brand of renal care cat food, stirring just a bit in his regular cat food to start off. My Aby took one whiff and walked away. Royal Canin was the last on my list, I ordered the wet food and after introducing gradual amounts, he loves it. I ordered the dry food and without any introduction he gobbled it up.

My cat eats this food! He didn't eat the other brand after a while. I believe it was after the formula was changed.

Renal food

This is the only renal diet my cat will eat. He should be eating something with less protein but won’t touch those foods. This is keeping his renal failure is check.

All My Cats Love This and It Works

This early support renal diet has kept my cats' kidney disease from progressing into stage 3. One has had stage 2 disease for 8 years now and his sister is in stage 1 now. Given their elderly ages I expect that without this diet over the years that he would've died from his kidney disease and that both his sisters would've progressed further in renal disease. And they like both the wet and the kibble form. We've tried all the various prescription brands. Purina's was not well liked and Hill's Science quit making their canned early support renal food. Royal Canin is good quality and the cats like it.

They like it!

Only one cat "needs" this food, but both eat it and like it. I'm so relieved.

Very tasty

My kitty is new to this food.He likes it better than the early kidney dry food from Purina. I didn't give it 5 stars for the simple reason that sometimes he will not eat it.I believe this is due to digestive issues rather than the food. What seems to be working best.. this is a work in progress...is to give him a little dish with wet food ( with added probiotics) on one side and dry food on the other. He seems to need small meals or he gets acid reflux and feels really bad. My other cats WISH they needed this food! I hope they never do!

Not the same

My 13-year-old Kitty was recently diagnosed with Stage 2 kidney disease. My vet recommended this food and had an open bag near expiration that she gave me a sample of to try. My cat was crazy for it every time I fed it to her. So I purchased a new bag from Chewy. And she simply will not touch it. I emailed Royal Canin and of course they said nothing had changed. But I have read some other reviews that they changed the packaging and pets will not eat it anymore. Maybe the packaging is affecting the taste. It's either that or the formulation. Something has definitely changed whether they will admit it or not. To test this theory I got another bag from my vet and she ate it again.

Smells weird kinda herbal-y and my cat HATES it

After a week I worked the amount up to 20% new food mixed into my cat’s old brand and she skipped 3 meals. I even tried mixing it with wet food and warming it up. I gave up and she ate all of her old kibble I put down. She’d rather starve than eat this. If your cats picky try and have your vet find a different brand that actually has a meat or fish flavor.
