Royal Canin Urinary SO is a veterinary-exclusive dry dog food developed to nutritionally support your adult dog’s urinary tract and bladder health. This formula promotes a urinary environment unfavorable to the formation of both struvite and calcium oxalate crystals. It increases the amount of urine your dog produces to help dilute excess minerals that can cause crystals and stones. Relative Super Saturation (RSS) methodology is used to help lower ion concentration in urine, which contributes to stone formation. And this specialized nutrition, with a reduced level of magnesium, helps dissolve pure struvite stones and prevent struvite stones from forming. Lower urinary tract issues may be a recurring concern for some dogs. Talk to your veterinarian about keeping your dog on this urinary dog food for long-term urinary support.

Zero's bladder stones were first noticed when Zero peed on snow and blood came out. The vet did blood work and an X-ray to identify the location of the stones. Zero was prescribed this diet. Zero's bladder stones went away completely. Zero doesn't love the food, and honestly it smells like cheez its. My dog is NOT food motivated and only gets excited about human food (mostly fresh cooked salmon or chicken) so we sprinkle a little on his meals to make him eat it. PLUS he's also Prozac and an allergy pill, so you knowwww he isn't going to eat his plain urinary food and pills as a topper. He needs human food and it's inconvenient as heck (esp when we take him camping).... Anyway, I highly recommend this product if your dog has urinary stones AND if it's prescribed by your doctor. I took zero in a few weeks later for a urine sample and he was clear of all blood!! The stones were small enough to pass thru his body naturally. the alternative was surgery to remove the impassably large stones
Royal Canin SO is a high quality dog food that was recommended by our vet for our dog that kept getting uti's. It seems to work well, and she eats it well. It is a little pricey, but there are not very many foods made to help prevent uti's...and much cheaper that continued visits to the vet & prescriptions. We order it from Chewy & it's very convenient to have it delivered to our home, as we get the large bags.
I require this food as I have history of bladder stones. I do not mind because it is delicious . I recommend it for all dogs that may have this tendency in their breed. Ask your family to talk to your Vet.
I am an old dog trainer and get alerts from the Dog Food Advisor so I can keep up to date on what's happening w/ dog food and ingredients, recalls, etc. My vet initially told me to get another brand for kidney/bladder support and while it works ok, that brand to me and most of my vet friends, is not as good. So I recently asked my present vet if I could to to Royal Canin and he agreed. Now I feel very happy about what I am feeding my dear elder sheltie, who (yes, WHO, not it!) is also my retired dog guide.
My vet was out of this and even Royal canon themselves had it on back order. Was so glad chewy had some in stock. Uploading script was super easy. Was told it would t come until after Christmas, but is came in 2 days!!! So happy! Thanks chewy!
My grandpuppy has bladder stones and after using this product for little over a year his stones have reduced from 5 to 2!! Have had surgery in the past and tried to find something that helps and this product has. Thank you!!
When the dog food that we purchase was out of stock chew sent a substitute that was more expensive but did not charge the difference without even being asked to. Their customer service is outstanding. Thanks Chewy!
My small dog has to take this bc of struvite crystals. been buying smaller kibbles in the past but bought this by mistake. noticed the mistake when I opened bag and saw larger kibbles.
The products and service at Chewy has always been top notch. And, about a year and a half ago, when one of our beloved pets passed away, they sent us flowers. A wonderful and unexpected gesture. A great company, and shipping is always very fast.
wish I never gave this to my dog, vet recommended this, my dogs symptoms after mixing this with her regular food for about 4 days got worse. And she had diarrhea from this. This is a nightmare, wish I could go back in time and not feed her this.
