How do I order veterinary diets?
- Search for the diet your veterinarian recommends and add it to your cart. You can purchase your veterinary diets along with any other items you need.
- At Checkout, you'll be asked for your pet's name and veterinary clinic information so we can confirm that the item is authorized by your veterinarian.
- Place your order and we'll take care of contacting your veterinarian. If you have a copy of your authorization, you can expedite the process by uploading a scan or photo of it to the Prescriptions section in your account or your order confirmation. You can also email it to vetdiet@chewy.com.
If your clinic needs more information from you or recommends a different diet, we'll let you know immediately.
I have a copy of the authorization from my veterinarian. Can I send it to you?
Yes. If you have a paper copy of your veterinarian's authorization, you can upload a scan or photo to the Prescriptions section in your account or your order confirmation. You can also email it to vetdiet@chewy.com.
Can I use a veterinarian's authorization if it was written by a veterinarian out of state? Yes. We accept valid authorizations from anywhere in the United States, Canada, and U.S. territories such as Puerto Rico.
Why do I need a veterinarian's authorization?
Veterinary diets are formulated with the precise ingredients and nutrients needed to address specific medical issues. Because these diets are formulated for medical issues, veterinary authorization is needed to advise you on the best way to give them to your pet and to monitor your pet's health while they are on the diet.
Can someone else (such as a caretaker or family member) place an order for my pet?
Yes, but we'll need them to contact us and provide the full name of the pet's owner after the order is placed. This is so the veterinary clinic can locate your pet's records when we contact them. Email us at vetdiet@chewy.com or call us 24/7 at 1-800-672-4399.
Do authorizations expire?
Yes. Your veterinarian will tell us when your authorization expires and how many refills you have before they'd like you to check back in with them.
Can I set up automatic refills? Yes. Sign up for Autoship at Checkout and select how often you need refills. We'll automatically ship your veterinary diets for as long as your authorization allows. If you run out of refills or your authorization expires, we'll automatically contact your veterinarian for a new authorization.
What if I have more questions? How can I reach the veterinary diets team at Chewy?
Email us at vetdiet@chewy.com, start a chat on Chewy.com, or call us anytime at 1-800-672-4399. We're here for you 24/7.

Royal Canin worked a miracle
By sfbaybluz on Jan 28, 2021
Royal Canin SO urinary Diet my dog Coco was prescribed by our Vet though she stated her doubts that it may work on the large bladder stones she had developed and felt surgery was the only choice. Since I did not have the money to afford the surgery being on a fixed income. She suggested I napply for site taking donation for pet owners in need. These all proved to be of no help and though this food was expensive within 6 months she went back to see how she was doing and the large stones were now broken down to small stones and shrinking! Its been about 9 months now and she is back to her old self happy and playful as ever. The money spent was worth it and the dog treats are helpful rather then Royal Canin SO urinary Diet my dog Coco was prescribed by our Vet though she stated her doubts that it may work on the large bladder stones she had developed and felt surgery was the only choice. Vet Diet dog treats too hard for our dog
By Gloria on Feb 6, 2021
We've been feeding our toy poodle Royal Canin dog food (both canned and kibble) for a few years, since she had developed bladder stones and then had to have surgery. For the first time, we recently ordered the urinary canine dog treats, which I was hoping she would love. But she won't eat them, and it appears they are too hard for her to chew. I even tried breaking them in half (which was difficult - they ARE hard), and also tried softening them in some chicken broth, to no avail. So I have a bag of treats that she won't eat. :-(

Yorkie Luv
By LisaH on Feb 15, 2021
Our Yorkie-poo is in love with these! She was recently put on Royal Canin SO dog food, so I ordered the treats as well. They are small enough for her tiny mouth to chew up, which can't be said for many others out there.I limit her on them, but if she had it her way, she would be treated with these and ONLY these!

Great treat
By Sharon on Feb 26, 2021
Our Buttercup loves these treats. We had been giving her kibble as treats and it’s very nice to have an alternative for her special diet. She is 11 pounds with 5 teeth but she manages this size really well. It’s large enough for bigger dogs as well. So glad I took a chance on these treats.

Hooray for treats!
By Mary on Jan 22, 2021
My little chihuahua has bladder stones and on Royal Canin SO diet, possibly for life. She was really missing treats. Our vet approved these, to be given sparingly. They are about the diameter of a penny. Quite hard but I soak in a little water for a few minutes. For those who asked in Q&A about quantity my guesstimate is > 300 per bag at least but I haven't counted.

Don’t even smell good
By Gloria on Jan 29, 2021
I bought these for my dog and let me tell you not one of my 12 dogs will eat them..... I tried to leave them for the possum and they would not eat it either maybe my batch was stale but I even tried the second Bach and they all hated them ! So it’s your choice to try it or not but 12 dogs would not eat it

Royal Canin Treats
By Sandee on Jan 9, 2021
These are great treats for dogs that have a urinary problem. Since my little dog gets bladder stones and has had to have surgery, she will now have to have special food for the rest of her life. I felt bad she wouldn't get any treats. Then I found these on Chewy and ordered them. They are fantastic and she loves them. I would recommend them to anyone that has a dog with this problem.

You can make your own treats with the canned Urinary SO
By Bella on Feb 17, 2021
My vet told me to buy the soft SO food and roll little balls about half an inch and flatten a little. Bake on a cookie sheet at 225 degrees til they harden a little. Then keep in fridge. Great idea. My dog loves them.

Love Chewy
By Xena on Feb 7, 2021
Delivery is always quick and accurate. My dog has to have prescription food and treats. Glad I can get them easily from Chewy. My vet has an online store but they are often out of stock/on back order. Can't be without treats!

Canin small bites
By Ruby on Jan 18, 2021
My mini schnauzer does not chew her food so always best to have the smaller kibble... she seems to like the food and hope that it helps with her urinary problems. Thank you chewy for your quick deliveries. I also bought the treats and she likes those as well.
