Continue to Canada siteRoyal Canin Urinary SO Moderate Calorie is a veterinary-exclusive wet cat food developed to nutritionally support your adult cat’s urinary tract and bladder health. This formula promotes a urinary environment unfavorable to the formation of both struvite and calcium oxalate crystals. It increases the amount of urine your cat produces to help dilute excess minerals that can cause crystals and stones. Moderate calorie content helps them maintain a healthy weight. Relative Super Saturation (RSS) methodology is used to help lower ion concentration in urine, which contributes to stone formation. Lower urinary tract issues may be a recurring concern for some cats. Talk to your veterinarian about keeping your cat on this urinary cat food for long-term urinary support.

Pets can be sensitive to sudden changes in their diets. For this reason, it is extremely important to follow a gradual transition plan to best support your pet's health and product effectiveness. It is recommended to follow at least a 7-day transition plan before exclusively feeding your pet a new food. Cats will often refuse mixed diets, so we recommend adding the new food to a separate bowl from the old food. Start by mixing 75% of your pet's current diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the current diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the current diet with 75% of the new diet. On Day 7, you can feed your pet the new food exclusively. Ask your Veterinarian about the best way to transition your pet to a new food.
Transition Day | Current Diet | New Diet |
---|---|---|
Days 1-2 | 75% | 25% |
Days 3-4 | 50% | 50% |
Days 5-6 | 25% | 75% |
Day 7 | 0% | 100% |

Ralph requires special prescription cat food. He was fine with the Royal Canin Urinary SO dry food so we decided to try the wet food. Historically our cats have turned their noses up at prescription wet food, but, fortunately Ralph loves this.
My 18 year old likes this so much better than the pate. I do wish it was a bit finer since he is just into licking the gravy.
My cat Halle ate this food for several years without much fuss. For the last several months she won't eat it. I spoke to my vet and she suggested mixing this Moderate Calorie with the full calorie variety. Halle rejected that as well. Talked it over with my vet and I've started giving Halle just the Royal Canin Urinary SO (it has thicker gravy). I hope to have many years of successful feeding with this variety.
My vet prescribed this wet food after my cat moon spent 3 days in the vet hospital , he's been peeing and doing very well on it for the past 3 weeks ! Chewy has this to me within a day or two , definitely glad I can get his food easily !
My vet prescribed this food for my cat b/c she had a bladder stone. And this food worked perfectly. After over a month or so on this food, I took her back, (like almost 3 months later which should have been 1 month later...smh..lol) to the vet and she was all clear. Mind you I also ordered the dry food as well so that she didnt get use to having just soft food since her main diet is a kibble diet w/the occasionalsoft food added. So now I incoporated it with her reg food to stay on top of any issues she may have.
I am almost 6 years old and I have been eating Fancy Feast since I was a kitten and I love it! One day I wasn’t feeling good and my pawrents took me to the docfur. Next thing I know, after being poked and prodded and x-rayed, I’m on a special diet and no more Fancy Feast. I was not a happy camper. Mom found this food in gravy, which is a similar texture to my Fancy Feast and it took me a few days to get used to it, but now I like it .
My cat loves this food; eating this for two weeks has resolved all of his urinary issues. I couldn't be more pleased.
I’d go for the Hills version of urine-safe food. My cat seems to hate the little nubby things and he licks off the liquid leaving the meat.
I was wondering if my cat would go for the moderate calorie version of the RC Urinary SO food after having gotten used to the regular calorie pate, but he likes this a lot.... maybe too much! I have to be extra careful with his portions even with the moderate calorie food so that he doesn't get chubbier!
I wish I would have read the reviews on this food before purchasing. I have had amazing luck with other Royal Canin vet products. In fact I have a cat on gastrointestinal vet food and he loves it. I wanted to switch my cat to this in the hopes he would eat more of the soft food as he will only eat a little of other brands. I opened the can and knew by the look of it that it didn't look like other Royal Canin foods I had purchased before. And my cat confirmed it was not good when he turned he nose up and walked away. This was for breakfast and he always eats the soft food at breakfast. I put the other brand out and he ate it. I will have to keep him on the other brand until Royal Canin makes a change.
